I paid $26 for a lousy greasy fried chicken sandwich and soggy fries. Couldn't eat but a few bites. Chicken was pink. And the frier oul clearly needs changed out. Awful! Should have went to Chick Filet.

Make your own pasta bar for weekday lunch
    Anoop I.

The pasta bar at the Onion Creek Grille is one of the best kept lunch secrets among office workers in the area. Back when I used to work in this neighborhood I used to frequent this place, and today it's still the same chef behind the counter, the same pasta and sauce and veggies and proteins. Little has changed in 15+ years and that's a good thing. I personally like the spiral pasta with a mix of their spicy cajun sauce and the pesto with lots of veggies. Too bad they only have this Monday through Friday. It's still worth the drive on a weekday.

    Southwest chicken and greens

This is supposed to be chicken and mixed greens with black beans, roasted corn, pico, cojita cheese, avocado, and cilantro lime dressing. $15. No corn. No avocado. No mixed greens. The name of the meal is Southwest chicken and greens.

    Rare?

Potatoes and toast were perfect. Eggs over easy were cooked too long and stake was raw.

Great food. Lunch break. Had some to take home. Create your own pasta meal. Was delicious.

Shame on me for choosing this restaurant but in my defense I was exhausted and since I DJ t consider myself a big foodie, I figured "how bad can it be"? The best thing I can say is that Francis the waitress was sweet as can be. Now that the nice things have been said... The menu has exactly 2 things on it that were tolerable: 1. Whipped potatoes 2. Ok. Just whipped potatoes. (They were really good.) My table had chicken noodle soup, grilled chicken, "market" "vegetables", POTATOES, and some other forgettable things. The chicken was rubbery and very fatty with a greasy skin that said around. The soup had no real taste and I think they forgot the chicken. New name suggestion: lukewarm flavored water. The vegetables were such a disappointment too. I thought "surely they can mess up cooked vegetables". When will I stop tempting fate? See photo of "vegetables". I was literally just given the stalk. The meal was really expensive for how bad it was. I paid $29! I guess that's what I get for eating at a hotel restaurant but I really had very little choice. In hindsight, fast food would have been the better option. Next time I see a restaurant with already poor reviews I will have faith in my fellow man and choose to believe them.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Early flight and a room near the airport had us dining close by. The food and server were excellent. Pan-seared Salmon and mushroom ravioli were delicious. We will be back. Our server Victor was very attentive. The wine list was very good.

Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding and a Stephen Goff Sauvignon Blanc... yummo.

Im in town for business. After a long day and a late 6 mile run along Ladybird Lake, I was just looking to put some fuel back in the tank so I walked to a Onion Creek for a night cap and something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I had the Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding with a Stephen Goff Sauvignon Blanc. My server, the service and more importantly my food was excellent.

The oil with the bread was delicious...not sure about the pasta sauce.

If you are staying at the Omni Hotel or nearby, this is a good experience. Personally, of you are visiting Austin and you haven't been here before, find some BBQ or Mexican and live music. Get out there! You can do it! If you are a business traveler like me and want something more upscale than fast food, you will be satisfied here. My server Adam gave the perfect amount of attentiveness. I was seated quickly, no wait. Lots of open tables. The bread comes with a wonderful light olive oil over a base of Parmesan and Italian herbs. Perfecto! I had the mushroom ravioli. Great combo of exotic mushrooms but the base sauce was...well...odd. It was not a cream sauce at all as I pictured. Very thin not creamy. Not bad, but I couldn't place it. The two bad things on the experience were the incredibly slow bar service and the noisy party that was going on in a room nearby. I recommend this restaurant if you are not looking to really take in the local scene.

Chicken + shrimp + veggies + spinach pasta + marinara sauce + pesto sauce = Delicious!

The restaurant is overrated and pricey for the small amount of food that you receive. $5.00 for plain black coffee is crazy.

There's usually something on the menu for everyone, which makes it such an easy choice for almost any occasion. Their happy hour is one of my favourites in Austin. The mini martinis are served on a martini tree, which makes the experience especially fun, and they also make an excellent dirty martini--perfectly ice cold and well balanced. The beef tartare is another standout and easily one of the best in town. It's always topped with an impressively large egg yolk, which I love. Murray's is an easy recommendation for anyone in East Austin looking for a relaxed, lively atmosphere and a satisfying meal.

My salmon was delicious, the Chicken Francese amazing and the Chicken Pot Pie unique and great, to name a few. Since we were there during happy hour, bottles of wine were half off-a great deal--and portions were very large--another welcome surprise. Knowing we were celebrating a birthday, a manager brought out a tower of seven mini glasses of champagne- a great touch. The Sticky Pudding on the dessert menu also a hit. While a bit out of the way, tucked in a neighborhood, this spot is worth the trip. We all plan on returning soon.

Twenty-three acres with pastures and gardens. Their daughter Mary was an incredible cook who loved making meals for family and friends. After getting married, she returned to live on the property for a few years. In 1946 she remodeled the farmhouse into a restaurant (which was at that time also called Green Pastures). The restaurant welcomed people of all religions and races since opening its doors in 1946 (18 years prior to desegregation in Austin). Decor/Design/Atmosphere: The grounds have peacocks strolling about and squirrels frolicking. It's like being transported to a magical fairytale land. It just oozes the generational love and caring put forth by Mary and her family so many decades ago. Lovely landscape. The Victorian architecture lends charm to the elegant decor from the floral wallpapers, stained glass windows, and fireplaces to the hardwood floors and the pastel and ethereal color scheme. There are multiple dining rooms and an upstairs bar (bar has a great peacock wallpaper). It truly feels like you've been invited to dine at a friend's house. ...And, what you've all been waiting for.. FOOD: HANDS DOWN BEST BRUNCH IN AUSTIN & MAYBE BEST BRUNCH EVER! My boyfriend and I shared the following: Fried Green Tomatoes- Comes with a crab + corn salad (that I didn't eat) my boyfriend lost his mind over the crab salad and we both lost our minds over the tomatoes. The breading was exactly what you expect on a green tomato fried up Southern-style. Light, airy, and seasoned to perfection. That batter was absolutely delightful. The tomatoes were crunchy yet warm and tender. A happy dance for our mouths. Rainbow Carrots- Wood grilled to perfection and topped with feta crumbles, a lemon vinaigrette, seeds, and hummus. The carrots were fabulously tender-crisp with sweet and tender centers. Tiramisu French Toast- The most wonderfully decadent and glorious brunch treat to cross our lips. This work of art included sticky toffee, molasses made of bourbon and espresso, and mascarpone (whipped). It left us both delightfully dizzy. We washed everything down with flavorful teas (in our own little pots). I stuck with a classic, Earl Gray as did the boyfriend who went with Jasmine Green. Both excellent selections. There are many things on the brunch menu (as well as the dinner menu) we still want to try and can't wait to get back. In fact , I will be heading back in a few weeks with friends. For that reason, I opted not to take pictures today. I do this every now and again (wait to take pics or not always take them at all...just depends on my mood & the vibe---don't try to figure me out, that's not for you to do.). 5/5 rating though it should be 10/10.

As a reviewer, one thing I hold myself to is visiting a restaurant multiple times before I write a…read morereview. My process is to get a feel for the menu (especially if there is more than one menu available) and to increase my sample size. So let's get to it! First for appetizers, I recommend the pimiento cheese, which is amazingly done. Tasteful and the perfect start to the meal. As for lunch, brunch, dinner, I have tried multiple plates but let's just say you cannot go wrong with the chicken. Mattie's offers a chicken and waffles dish for brunch and chicken plate for dinner. Their drink/cocktail menu is also quite fun and I would encourage anyone to explore! My favorite dish by far has actually been the chicken plate for dinner. It is filling and i definitely think they have their chicken down. That said I do think the chicken during breakfast time is more on the salty side, so you may consider an alternative option. That said, the service, is subpar. Twice I had bad experiences. The first time I went I ordered the pimiento cheese as well, and our server was persistent we ordered the cheese board. That's not enough to knock off two stars, but the last time I went was another unfortunate experience. My party ordered the appetizer and we were asked about our main mean at the same time. I am used to servers not putting in your plate until after the appetizer hits the table. But that was not the case, appetizers came same time as our meal. I think the ambiance is lovely and the food is pretty good for a family spot, friends, or professional setting. However, the service it really depends who you get, as all places. It's just unfortunate because everytime I want to go, that's the one highlight that turns me off. A restaurant is just as good as the people who represent it. Anyway, all of that said, that is my justification for three stars. I think it's worth a try and I hope everyone has a lovely experience. However, if you also feel like the staff is rude and snobby, I suggest giving your buisness to odd duck, uchi, or Eberly, etc. Happy dining!
