Tasty Bites in Mokena is seriously one of the best spots around. The food is always incredible, the portions are great, and everything tastes fresh and made with care. If you go there, do yourself a favor and order the Gym Shoe sandwich. I honestly still don't understand the name, but trust me--it is absolutely amazing. One bite and you'll understand why people rave about it. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the family behind it. They are some of the nicest people you'll meet--always friendly, welcoming, and great to talk to. Gyro is not worth even close to 12 bucks. At best it's a 6 dollar gyro. Keep trying to give them a chance but it's always the end of the gyro log and chintzy. I'm going to start buying gyro kits for 10 at Jewel triple the size. read more

Went to tasty bite and had the hotdog special. The food took quite a while to come out. When we got the hot dogs, they were still cold in the inside. Seems like they just took them out of the refrigerator and didn't cook them enough. Not a very enjoyable experience. read more

They posted all over about their buy one get one gyros. One would think they'd be prepared. There was no line when we walked in . We were informed there would be over an hour wait for gyros. No offer of anything in leui of the gyros. They let everyone coming in behind us leave. Their brother owns Roostys in the same strip mall, so I'm sure that was convenient. We did end up at Roosty's but the owner acted a bit pompous when we joked about them getting the business from them. No pics of Testy Bite because no food. First visit might be our last. read more

We are going middle of the road here with three stars. I want to give them more but they've proven we aren't there yet. Things to strive for... We've ordered gyros twice. Tzatziki on the side both times. Tzatziki missing from the bag both times. First time, we drove back for missing tzatziki which is inconvenient and kinda meh to put on now lukewarm gyro meat. Second time, we arrived home after their 8pm closing time and made do without it. It would be awesome if we could get what we ordered and paid for. Fries. Large fry is HUGE!! Very generous. But the fry oil has a distinct taste that isn't salty potatoes as expected. I'm not sure what's happening here, but fresh and hot salty fries should only have those flavors going on. When I couldn't decide what I wanted for my most recent meal here, they suggested an Italian beef. Perfect! Except that the beef isn't seasoned and really comes off as roast beef lunch meat that has been heated up. No grizzle to speak of which was nice and the roll was soft (likely Turano's which is always a great choice!), but an Italian beef sandwich should have some flavor brought out by a nice mix of spices. On a 30 degree night, the overhead fans were going in the dining room and it was freezing no matter where I stood or sat. I couldn't have dined in if I wanted to do so. It was uncomfortable. Plenty of staff means the food is ready quickly and everyone is polite. Restaurant appears clean. Plenty of parking in the lot. Maybe we will try a burger or Polish sausage sometime to see how that goes as I want to love and support a local small, independent business owner. read more

Lives up to it's name. I got there Gryo, Corn Dog, and fries. The gyro meat was well seasoned and cooked really well. The fries were the right amount of crispy and mashed potato. They have plenty of seating and a very clean restaurant. The staff is really nice and accommodating. There is plenty of food options that you can choose from. I don't think they ever change out the oil in the fryers! Anything fried tastes so old. I noticed when waiting that when they want to re- heat already made French fries they take them and put them right back into the fryer. Terrible! Also, just as a sanitary measure, anyone accepting money should not be making the food unless they are wearing gloves. This practice is not being followed. read more

Wow! Are we glad we stopped here! Top marks on quality and over the top on quantity! My husband got the gyro platter, I got a chicken gyro. We shared a Greek salad. His platter would have fed us both with leftovers. Every thing about the food was excellent. The meat and chicken was high quality, the feta on the salad was not just run-of-the-mill--much better than most small eateries--and the pita was puffy and warm. Typical hole in the wall fast food joint that has gyros, hot dogs, burgers and so much more. The few times I've went in, I've gotten either a gyro sandwich ($4.25) or a Beef ($4.25) with a large fry ($1.75) and I've been satisfied with both. They're been in business for about 2 years and I'm surprised they're made it this far. I never see anybody in there whenever I go in nor when I drive past there, which is weird since its got a great location. The inside could use some updating. The people there aren't too personable and they seem a little on the miserable side whenever I was there. I'll be surprised if they can make it out of our recession. read more
