Polish sausage special ($1 off) with an order of fries
    Audrey H.

What a great find! Order taker was very patient and sweet while we navigated the huge menu and how to order the build your own salad. This place is packed and everything people ordered looked great! It's a hot dog stand on steroids. Great salads, in addition to a "salad" bar you select what you'd like with a generous serving of dressing. On the other side of the pick your own salad, is a pick your own wrap. Friday's special was a really good Polish with perfectly grilled onions and yellow mustard. 2 soups in addition to homemade chili. Green pepper soup was an offering and it was fantastic and not too salty. If you're a senior ask for their value card. Mention it before ordering and get 10% off, and then on your tenth visit you get $7.00 off. They also serve beer and Friday's is a $1 beer.

Jumbo dog with all the trimmings.

Parking no issue, big lot. Exterior well lit and inviting. Huge selection. Tonight, Jumbo hotdog for me, cheese burger for the wife. Order taker pleasant and efficient. Lobby / seating area clean and comfortable. Hotdog served HOT, a treat where others are usually served warm. Very favorable hotdog. Condiments fresh and abundant. Cheese burger served in like fashion. Great experience. The only take away, hot dog bun NOT steamed.

Build your own salad is AMAZING!!! Great garlic dressing too!

I'm not sure why I haven't been here before. I tried the build your own salad and it was amazing! So many great options. It's a very large salad, and the creamy garlic dressing is great too. Hubs got a polish sausage sandwich and said it was great.Lots of other options on the menu that look good as well. We'll be back.

I like this place alot. The best way to describe this place if you're from the south side of Chicago is that this place feels like the former Dukes Drive - In at Bridgeview. This place is huge! Not only is it huge so is their menu options. Besides the food menu options, it's cool that this place also sells alcohol and salads, they truthfully have something for everyone. They got a large parking lot and they even host car shows here judging by the pictures on the wall. It appears to be a popular stable in the community too so this place definitely has my attention.

Super Our Burgers are 100% pure ground beef, made fesh daily, never frozen-

The food is as expected, more than mediocre. It is the hospitality that does the food a disservice. Every time I order through the drive thru- the person taking my order is always in such a rush that they confuse and mess up my order. For instance, I ordered a Super Burger with EXTRA mustard and EXTRA pickles. When I received my order and drove home, I found that the burger was made with ONLY mustard and ONLY pickles. Through the intercom, a lady kept cutting me off while I was speaking. I couldn't get my full order out without her saying "is that all" "would you like anything else with that" "that comes with ..." I understand that the worker wants me to acknowledge the full extent of the menu and perpetrations of the food; however, it was very rude how she did not let me finish talking. The drive thru workers need to learn to listen then speak. If I wanted fast food, I would have gone to a franchise. As of lately, the hospitality of Babe's has been on a decline. The quality of the food has remained. As summer came to an end, and with all the student workers returned to classes, the older workers have been picking up more shifts. Those workers who have been picking up more shifts are agile and gloomy. They may smile and "put up an act" but their actions bleed through that façade. Their action of turning their backs while customers are speaking is unacceptable. The big chair in the front, I think it's really cool

Babe's offers a variety of Hot and Cold Wraps or you can Create Your Very Own- Chicken Caesar wrap
    Emilie C.

Quick service I had wanted cheese fries for a while I got chili cheese fries since it's been cold. Very tasty great portion for it. The chicken Caesar wrap is good crisp tasty. The only Con was the employees weren't wearing their masks properly it was below their noses. * with glasses I get that's hard but still.

Nice place to grab a hotdog with the kids and Wednesday nights during the summer they have cruise nights good time to get a bite to eat and check out some cool cars

I'm glad yelp gave me a reminder. Still over priced and over sold on quality. Home of the food poisoning.

Stopped for the first time at Babes for hot dogs after hockey practice. Was not impressed with the dogs or fries. But, service was good.

Love all of their hot dogs. Great place to stop in and view the many photos on the wall. My suggestion is to Try a jalapeño hot dog!

Parking wasn't an issue at dinner time but might be at lunch. Got a tip to try their Italian beef, so a hot dipped it was. Great chew and beefy flavor. Perfect heat on the giardiniera. Really good fresh cut fries and great cheese for dipping for just a buck. The meal deal was less than $15 and you can get double meat for a buck and a half more. No way I could finish that. Regular size left me stuffed. Great staff and the place was very well kept. You will find classic RC at the soda machine. Looking forward to exploring their menu. Next step, smashburger. I did stop by on a Thursday for the gyro meal deal. I like the smaller chunks vs long strips. Really good tzatziki sauce too. There's no shortage of meat piled on this sandwich and no skimping on fresh cut fries.

MAXWELL STREET RACING…read more Ya gotta make a pit stop for polish sausage at this Portillo's Pickup in Joliet. Speed isn't just the goal here; it's integrated into the overall theme.  Most Portillo's have decor from a certain era (e.g. Glendale Heights features 30's prohibition, Elmhurst is a 1950's neon diner, Homewood has a 70's hippie vibe), but this location on Larkin Ave is all about NASCAR. The racing motif is fitting, as this Portillo's has a unique triple drive thru (yep, *3* lanes) to serve customers as quickly as possible.  Since there's no dining room, all business is done at a small pickup counter inside or via the drive thru.  Service has been zippy across a few visits. There are lots of great things on the menu, especially the beef 'n' cheddar croissant ($8), jumbo Chicago style dog ($5), and the iconic chocolate cake ($6).  Lemon cake is a seasonal fan favorite, and my wife absolutely loves their strawberry shortcake ($5).  Char burger w/cheese & bacon is underrated, too. As with the classic hot dog, their Maxwell Street polish ($6) comes on a steamed poppyseed bun with mustard.  It's seasoned to perfection and has a wonderful 'snap' to it. Grilled onions are piled on top, and for an added burst of flavor, I recommend adding sport peppers. On my last trip here, I ordered a cup of hot giardiniera to go with an Italian beef and instead got.....a cup of hot oil.  0% "giard", 100% tub o' spicy liquid.  I found this more amusing than upsetting, but it wasn't what I paid for, so I have to dock a star. * TL;DR * Put the pedal to the metal and hurry to your nearest Portillo's! The Maxwell Street (a.k.a. footlong polish sausage) is great for those with a hearty appetite, although you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.  Sign up for their rewards program and they'll give you a free large fry, plus a free piece of cake on your birthday. This location is lacking the interior charm of other Portillo's in the Chicagoland area, but if all you care about is getting tasty food relatively quickly, then consider this place victory lane.

I've been looking for an excuse to come to this Portillo's forever since it opened. I assumed I had…read morethe perfect chance to visit after getting a free coupon for an Italian beef sandwich from a hockey game I went to months ago from a Portillo's promotion. Mind you that my card was valid until the end of 2026. The people at Portillo's were telling me that my card voucher was expired though it was not. The worst part was is that it took me 30 minutes just to get up to the lady to ask for my food too. Just to be the client and even get out of line in the end wasting my time that I won't get back. It's supposed to be a three-lane drive-thru and the traffic is more backed up than Interstate 55 heading towards Chicago just to be able to obtain your food anyways. After experiencing this, I will not be coming back to this Portillo's. If I do come back there better to be an area for me to walk in and order my food and not sit in the Drive-Thru the entire time.
