We walked over to see no one inside so right up to the counter we went after looking the menu over. Greek- Mediterranean food items here so of course a Beef Gyro for me and two pieces of dark chicken for my man. Salad side for me and none for him. Decor is plastic seats attached to table, black and white checkers with white tiles. Soon there were more and more people coming in. In no time our food was ready. Both times I've dined at this fast casual spot, the chicken was on point...crispy and tasty on the outside, moist and flavorful in the inside. I definitely didn't expect fried chicken to be this good outside Portland. On the other hand, they also serve Mediterranean food...which is a homage to who they are. But is it good? I am writing to formally complain about my experience at Tasty Fried Chicken in Portland, ME on 12/19/2025 According to your website, the store closes at 2:00 AM. At approximately 12:23 AM, I placed an online order for two 35-piece chicken meals with fries and drinks. The order was accepted and confirmed without any warning, restriction, or notice that large orders would not be fulfilled after midnight. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:00 AM to pick up my order. At that time: * All lights were off * Employees were preparing to leave * Staff acted as if no order existed When I asked about my confirmed order, the person in charge explained that after 12:00 AM they do not do large orders because they have been "stood up" in the past. This policy was never disclosed during ordering, and it has nothing to do with me as a paying customer whose order was accepted. To make matters worse, at 1:05 AM--nearly one hour before the posted closing time--all employees exited the building and locked the doors. read more

When I searched for fried chicken near Portland, I was underwhelmed by my options. Popeyes was sporting a lowly 2 star rating, while Tasty Fried Chicken was over 4 stars...decision made, let's support the local spot. They cooked my chicken fresh to order, so it took a few minutes. After many activities during the day, we went for a very late lunch. The staff were nice. The menu looks like what you find in a mall food court. I got chicken tenders and fries. Both were clearly frozen and generic. I was surprised though that the fries were still hot even 10 minutes later. Friend got a gyro. He said it was really good because of the sauce. Worth what we paid but I wouldn't suggest we go again. I wouldn't say no though if I was asked to go back. Next time would probably get the shish kabob family style and split it. read more

Wow this was so good I did not even know it existed till today . This place was sparkling clean the staff was friendly and efficient. We had called ahead and got there every was ready . We got an 8 piece chicken with sides ( pictures are not great they starting eating before I got the photos) masked potatoes came with gravy and were good Coleslaw was fine. It was hot and juicy with a crispy skin that had a little bit of spice to it. It was soo good . Fries were excellent but next time I will ask them for less salt. We also got a chicken finger with fries this was good but felt a little over cooked. The chicken gyro was scrumptious the sauce was a little different than I had had before but I really liked it. The lamb plate over rice is delicious . The rice is soft and pieces of lamb tender. Please do not come to this place and compare it to foods in big cities. I have lived in big cities and there are so many options so to compare one state to another of what you are "used" to is unfair. We are in Maine and this is what we have. This place does not deserve less than 5 stars. Its fried chicken is delicious: juicy and crispy skin. Its service is fast , efficient and nice. Any thing else you can ask for?? This place used to be good it's gone down hill big time . I ordered the chicken Philly sandwich which used to be shredded chicken with green peppers and onions with cheese. This time they gave me some chopped up chicken kabob with some cheese thrown on top. I told them I got the wrong sandwich as it wasn't what they gave me in the past. Only a few mins, but mostly because we didn't know which online opening time to believe; thus my opening line. The food...meh meet feh. Are you from NYC? Do you miss the chicken joints that are as abundant as coffee shops and bodega cats? This is the spot for you! Chicken is a solid rust red and has a spice pallet to match. Not offensive or actually spicy, but clearly an after taste of ("paprika"?) and a fried shell which comes off completely with the first bite! The meat is cooked and surprisingly juicy. If you hand off the fried part as a treat to someone else, the meat is fine. As a full bite of food, PASS. The fries come in a range of sizes and as we have two kids (near 6 and almost 5) we got the medium. As is true of NYC sizes, what the city calls medium, normal America calls large. That box of fries feeds 4 adults EASILY. They are standard and uniform. Salted and not overly oily, but yes I taste the oil. I enjoyed them which has always been the case for me with city fries. (10yrs in Queens after all.) They didn't even get finished to be honest. We got an 8pc combo to share and it was too much for us. 2 adults and 2 kids. THAT SAID, my kids and I are ASD and hadn't eaten here before, so only my wife was sure she'd be able to eat what was ordered. I should have been more clear about size purchased. The bird all got ate tho cuz we have 2 puppers at home as well. It came with a side and 2 rolls. She had the Cole slaw which was "too...mayo...ee? but much better day 2 as leftovers in fairness." The rolls were solid chill in the center. I don't know if they were frozen and didn't thaw or just never warmed from the fridge, but....yuck. Sauces were offered and are the exact pre done dip cups you expect at like KFC or Popeye's so I did a hard pass. My wife got the Jamaican beef pattie (life time New Yorker) and was disappointed. Either it didn't match her memory or it wasn't the quality she expects them to be, but it was too mushy and too thin according to her. (I did remind her the filling is a paste by design, but she still wasn't happy with what she got.) Personally? Nope, not going back. Not usually a fan of bone-in chicken, but I found I really liked this. We got an 8 piece bucket but my wife found she didn't like it much. So it was all for me. And piece by piece. I ate it all gladly. The fries were not very flavorful, but a massive portion size for a "medium." Horrible customer service I approach their restaurant at 9:46 PM on a Sunday and mind you the site and door sign says that they close at 12 AM midnight once I approach the restaurant I was met by two men standing outside, smoking. Me being a black woman and not trying to just jump into conclusions I just didn't think about it went back in my car scrolled on my phone to see what other location is open while I was scrolling two cars pulled up in the parking lot. One of the them went into the Jersey Mike's and the other person went into the same store that I tried going in, Tasty fried chicken. So I watch, the lady open the door and I'm thinking why is the door not lock? If he's closing in five minutes wouldn't he lock the door up and not allow any more customers. I follow the lady into the restaurant. She actually held the door for me, (Thank you!) being curious. I look at the door sign and try to just make sure I had the correct times. signs on the doors said their time and days of business. This was Sunday, March 3 and they close at 12 midnight, so I'm behind the lady that's ordering her food and I asked him the cashier. I thought he was closing in five minutes. First of all, the employees were so nice! they were very respectful and patient when I was ordering, and the whole restaurant was very clean, cute, and nice! Additionally, the chicken was SO GOOD! Food wasn't really good. The mac and cheese was gross tasted like dishwater and the mashed potatoes & gravy tasted like bad instant potatoes gravy wasn't good tasted like canned dog food, the chicken had lots of bones (I know fried chicken will have bones) it's was 80% bones 10% chicken. The service was somewhat good one of my items was missing but the manager was super nice and gave me a refund for the meal, great guy I wouldn't really recommend this place unless you like KFC taste pretty similar. After our hike in Brighton, we tried this place. To our surprise, we weren't disappointed. The servers were polite, courteous, and very friendly. The restaurant and the kitchen which you can see from the dining area were clean. We ordered the kicked kabob, fried chicken, fish with rice, and lamb chops. The food was cooked to perfection, everything was very tasty. For a fast food place, I was surprised to get tasty, good quality, and quantity food. Tried it at first because everything else was closed, but realized soon thereafter that it has a very tasty menu with a wide variety of choices! Interesting? Eclectic menu offerings. TFC was suggested to me by a friend who tried their gyros and was hooked. Unfortunately, I can't say the same. Chicken gyro with rice and salad. Lamb gyro and we purchased a fried chicken breast to give it a try. The menu also includes cheeseburgers and fish where does it stop??? Hahaa It was decent. Nothing had amazing flavor. If you're searching for grimy fast food chicken- this is a good place. That's not my palate. Desserts are pre made cheesecake slices and other random chilled pastry- style individual servings. Cans of soda available. I didn't finish the chicken gyro plate. They are open late night for the partiers. I do appreciate the fresh quality of grilling the lamb and chicken when ordered. This is my first review of a restaurant so it's gotta mean something.....Me and my girlfriend came out to Maine from Las Vegas to visit my family, we're so used to hitting up McDonald's for late night snacks cause they're 24/7 there, to our surprise at 1230am nothing is open through South Portland, Portland or Westbrook..... I was looking for a good fried chicken that wasn't frozen and pre-cooked . I checked out some reviews most of them saying that the chicken was very good , I had to agree! The coating held on and it was tender and juicy, The fries were really cooked well right to the point of crunchiness that you want not soggy , they are also made on site. We also tried the mix lamb and chicken over rice with a salad that was also very good! If you want to pack a soda and some chicken into that nasty gut of yours, I promise, this place Ndamukong Suh-laps. The menu opens like a Jacob's ladder and you're crushed with a choice of deciding to get a meal like an adult, or destroy your body with a platter of sides. Grab some depends from a store nearby, because this place has desserts too. You'll be in and out before you know it. I didn't eat there, because I'm a pig and don't want anyone to see me unhinge my jaw like a snake, but they have some tables too. By the time I could force myself to go get some more napkins, I was already semi-conscious and sweating like the driver of a Sanford routine traffic stop. I ate to the point of pure discomfort. I ate until I decided to stop and switch to sweatpants. I wish the kabob and rice would shower over my disgusting body from the heavens. You won't be able to look your significant other in the eyes for a week after. One of you will probably move to the spare bedroom and start exercising more, after you watch each other shred chicken like wild hogs in some disgusting feverish trance. It may ruin you two.
