Dave's Hot Chicken is hands down, the best fast food chicken chain out of the many that have popped up in the past few years. My go to is their tenders meal at the mild spice level, which I feel like does not add spice but makes the chicken flavorful and delicious. The menu is a little bit pricey, but I do feel like it's worth it for the amount and quality of the food you get. This location isn't the best one I've been to, but it is still good. It does tend to get busy, so be prepared to wait a little while for your food. There is a good amount of seating and a variety of table sizes, and I've never had trouble finding a seat. There are individual use bathrooms which are generally clean, and I believe at least one of them has a changing table for children. read more

I got the tender and slider with mild heat for the slider and medium heat for the tender. Man did this place not disappoint!! The chicken is extremely juicy and the seasoning they add to meat is delicious! The mild didn't have any kick, but the medium heat has a small kick which was enough for me personally. However, if you want spicier you can go for hot or extra hot or even reaper! Overall, the slider was a little sweeter, I added Dave's sauce and honey on top, so if you would like it a little less sweet then don't add the honey. Overall, I was impressed and I will say it's definitely was of the most unique chicken sandwiches I've had! I highly recommend trying this place out for a new chicken experience. However, I could easily have split their double slider meal with my wife, but we bought two orders, and couldn't come close to finishing them. But if I loved it, why is it missing a star? I have eaten here twice. First time, I went with the Russian Roulette party pack and unfortunately got the mild and the medium spiced sandwiches. They were not spiced enough for me and I did get to try a bite of the reaper but I didn't think it was that hot. The Pickles and sauce was good and the sandwiches were larger than I expected. The second time I ate here, I got the hot and the reaper tenders and fries combo. Again the hot wasn't hot enough for my liking. I then ate the reaper and was ok until the halfway point at which point my lips were burning, my eyes started tearing on its own, and I started to not enjoy my experience. I finished the reaper off but I must say it wasn't a fun experience. The next day, I paid for it too as my stomach was sore for the whole morning. Overall, I think the chicken is good and worth it due to the size but i don't like the fact that the hot is not hot and the reaper hurts you both in and out. Like I said the sauce is good and tasty as is the pickles but fries are just ok. I think I would eat here again but its not my favorite chicken joint. read more

TAKE OUT REVIEW: Such a great addition to the Portsmouth area. The prices aren't insane, and you definitely get your money's worth. The chicken is crispy and juicy will a lot of variation in heat. The tenders and the sliders are a great go to. The mac and cheese is pretty standard nothing too special, but still good. The fries are crinkle cut, which aren't my go to, but again like the mac and cheese a good standard. Given that I had this delivered, it wasn't soggy which was noteworthy. Great place to go if you like applebees chicken served on a slice of wonderbread. If you order a slider they put a sliver of cabbage on it which they call slaw. Crinkle fries came out of the freezer. Price was unreasonable for quality. Would have enjoyed mcdonalds better for a fraction of the cost. As an individual with a dairy allergy, I always check online for allergy information before going to a new restaurant. I was disappointed to not find any allergy information, but decided to go to Dave's anyway. I was very disappointed to learn from the nice wait staff that all the chicken contained dairy.
