This bakery which was established back in 1963 is located in a cute area off of Market Street. It's kind of hidden so look for the American flag. When you walk in there is so many bakery options. It took me a second to really decide what I truly wanted. I must say the jumbo cupcakes look amazing. They offer cookies, muffins, donuts, eclairs, and cupcakes of course. I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was moist and delicious. It was definitely one of the best blueberry muffins I have ever had. I can't wait to try the coconut cupcake later! The staff is friendly and ready to help you when you walk in. They also have a lot of outdoor seating to hang out and enjoy your baked goodies. I love Tasty Pastry! I don't have the time or energy to make baked goods at home so I enjoy going there to get a tasty treat. I've been craving cinnamon rolls for a month and tried them at many places but was left wanting. The cinnamon roll I got at Tasty Pastry yesterday morning was everything I've been wanting--warm, fluffy, perfect amount of icing. They offer them with or without raisins. I got them with raisins. Despite having pictured cakes that they've created on their website, they will only allow you to select from a numbered list of cakes when placing a custom order. Even if it's been custom made before with a listing on their website you can show them; such as a pregnancy belly cake, they will not create another because it's not a "numbered" cake. Not sure if this is because they're relying on straight-out-of-school bakers or lack of care to try and make a sell. Save time and frustration by going to Publix, at least they're consistent. read more

Id say this is probably the best regular bakery in town for the money. Rows after rows of inventive delicious baked goods all for prices that won't burn a hole in your wallet. Honestly is better in some ways vs the more traditional French bakery in town, but makes different treats. Well worth visiting! read more

They are lucky someone hasn't died at their negligence!! So the week before Christmas, my 93 year old grandmother went to Tasty Pastry to get a quiche for the holidays. She has a condition called Alpha-Gal, which makes her highly allergic to beef, pork, and lamb product. As we went in, she explained her health issues and was told to get the spinach and tomato one. She looked it over and asked again if there were any meat products used whatsoever in the quiche or even may have been in contact with them. The cashier assured her that these were completely vegetarian. When she took it home and are the first bite, she noticed a strange texture but assumed it was an additive or something like that. Within a short time, she had an extreme reaction and was violently throwing up and shaking. She didn't want to eat any more of the quiche after vomiting it up all day, so she gave it to my aunt. My aunt quickly called my grandmother and explained to her that the quiche had minced (basically pulverize) ham in it and to take her allergy protocol. She and I have both called the store and were told we would hear back from the owners about making sure this doesn't happen again. This may seem small or petty to some, but those with food allergies know this is literally life and death (especially to a 93 year old. Here is the label of it if anyone else has these issues. My wife woke up with a craving for bagels so we tried Tasty Pastries. Mistake! Everything in the place looked fantastic but when we got to the eating part the product was old and stale, not just the bagels but I had a donut and a five dollar cupcake! RIDICULOUS!!!!! The lightest fluffiest most full of fruit blueberry muffins, cranberry muffins wonderful they did great pastries have some wonderful things. Tasty pastry. We love the blueberry muffins the most, but it's true Bakery use real sugar and probably makes some wonderful croissants anyway it's fun to go there. it's clean and there's a couple other stores that are close by that you would enjoy going to , give it a try I promise you'll like it some part of it. But, in picking up a cake that my husband ordered for me daughter - who LOVES this place - I had a very pleasant experience. I've never tried this place, but I figured since they'd been open over 50 years, their products must be good, but I was wrong, the cake I ordered was great! I ordered a 5 layer chocolate ganache cake for my son's graduation over the phone. I explained what I wanted, just a simple "Congratulations" with my son's name on it, and maybe 2 small graduation decorations. My son has an unusual name, and I was thrilled that the decorator called me to confirm the spelling of his name. The people who work there could not have been nicer, and each person who sews you makes sure to ask if you've been helped, and everyone there had a smile on their face. Craving CARBS! I walked into a line of happy people waiting to get great service. After a moment, it was my turn. I ordered sour dough bread, three cheese croissants, three plain croissants, three chocolate croissants, and chocolate dipped Oreos. The pleasant server gladly put my order together into boxes. The total for everything came to $28. When I opened, the wonderful smell of croissants filled the air. The cheese croissants were insane. Like always, I will be back. Oh so delicious!! Customized two-tier baby shower cake, and the cake was absolutely delicious! The real test is how the cake holds up the next day...and SUCCESS!! We forgot to put the cake into an air-tight container after the shower, and the leftover cake was left in the original cardboard box overnight. The cake was equally delicious even 24 hours later. We never got around to storing the cake correctly, but it stayed in the original cardboard box for 4 days...and the cake was still moist! The actual cake (vanilla cake with vanilla frosting) was delicious! The cake was not sweet, and the frosting was sweet enough to compliment the cake. NOTE: This was "winter" time in Florida...so I'm sure the humidity would impact how soft the cake stays! read more

Love that this bakery is still around. I have loved them since I was a kid...and now I'm a middle aged lady. :) I recently ordered a birthday cake for my sister. On their menu, I selected carrot cake, the design and all the details. Paid, everything was great....but, apparently they didn't have carrot cake and all I got was vanilla. I can't keep track of how many bakeries I've been to in my lifetime & I've been to Tasty Pastry more than once. In my opinion this place isn't bad but it's not great either. The service is good & they have a good variety of pastries but the taste is average. Maybe I need to try one of their made to order cakes since that's what a lot of the good reviews seem to be referring to. Favorite Bakery in Tallahassee!! There's definitely a reason that most coffee shops in Tallahassee sell their pastries, they're just so good. I have never really liked muffins until I tried their banana chocolate chip muffin, I became obsessed and can eat it any time of the day. I have never had a bad customer service experience here, every time I go in they're always super busy but get me in and very quickly (which I like). The only downfall is that they don't do special requests (emailed them once to see if they could take the nuts out of the banana bread they sell and they said no). read more

Some great items and some not so great. Amazing key lime pie cheesecake and cheesecake w nuts and chocolate chips. Almond horns are good. Chocolate cupcake w chocolate mouse is moist and good frosting. Poor quality: quiches, cheese danish, chocolate eclair, magic 7 layer bars. Muffins are moist but waaay too much sugar on top. Red velvet cupcake: decent cupcake but cream cheese frosting has very little cream cheese in it so has mediocre flavor. read more

Ordering was easy, they were pleasant and accommodating, delivered on time and even were kind enough to wait when my daughter wasn't at first available to receive them...and she said they were delicious. I ordered the King Cake from here to celebrate Carnival. I ordered it a day before and it was ready on time. My only concern is that when I walked in, I saw a table that had a bunch of King Cakes on it, all packaged the same. I thought that maybe these were made specifically for walk-in orders, and that mine (because I pre-ordered it) would be different (aka fresher, different packaging, etc). When it was my turn to get to the counter I told them that I was picking up a King Cake I ordered yesterday, so the woman walks to the back and hands me the exact same box that was on the table in the front. I thanked her and paid for it, but it made me think that these King Cakes are not as fresh as I would have liked, or even not made in-store (especially for ordering from a bakery instead of picking it up at the grocery store, for example). The King Cake itself, sadly, was just very typically. Nothing to write home to; it's a huge, dry cinnamon roll with green/purple/yellow colored icing. This particular experience will not deter me from shopping here, however, as they had many wonderful looking treats on display that I am sure taste wonderful. read more
