I've had several different quiches and they all have been amazing as well as their breakfast burrito which normally I would turn my nose up back but decided to try it and it is amazing. Tupelo's doesn't have a big menu, but it was big enough. Sandwiches and salads basically. And quiche or another daily special. There is a separate little shop in this restaurant, where they sell all kinds of Honey, and many other items that are great for little gifts. My only complaint is that even if you are eating there rather than getting takeout, everything is in plastic containers, and there are plastic forks and plastic cups. I just don't see the point of not having even a small dishwasher, and just filling the landfill with plastic when there's not really a reason. It was also hard to eat with just a small plastic fork. Next time I go there, I will bring my own plate and flatware :-) read more

Tupelo's Bakery & Cafe is a pillar of Monticello. I need more every time-- I can eat from here indefinitely. The sandwiches are enormous and stacked with the best quality bread and freshest ingredients. The pastries alone outmatch 90% of the competition not in the local competition, not in the state, but the entire country. I need more scones. I need more cookies. I need more Tupelo's. The staff, management, and owner(s) are a methodical formula numerous businesses desire to emulate and perfect. The interior is a mix (to my mind) of a retro diner with a pâtisserie-- and it is wonderful. The store adjoining it with merchandise such as clothing, books, accessories is wonderful as well. I had the Hippie Chick Sandwich with a Lemon Cake Slice (lemon curd filling/cream cheese icing) for dessert...my friend had the pesto grilled cheese with a cupcake for dessert. Tickled pink with our meals! Just, wow! So good. Filling. Tasty. Freshly baked bread! Everything tasted like they know exactly what they're doing. The lemon cake was a special delight for me as I am a sucker for a really good filling: a very rich dessert, but a very special treat! Cute "honey" gift shop in the cafe and also an art room for classes but has local works on display in the art room, and in the main dining area...a nice little place to browse. We dined alfresco on the back patio which was nice on a gorgeous day. (Not quiet (there's an AC unit just off the patio) but gorgeous weather AND we got to pet a local dog, which was plus plus plus and put the dining experience into the bonus for me.) I'm looking forward to going back and I want to try the Tab next time, which has a different twist for me on a turkey sandwich- "The Tab: Boar's Head Turkey, Vermont cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, fresh apple slices tossed in a little lemon and cinnamon, a dab of our homemade apple butter and mayo. This is an adorable bakery & cafe! The menu wasn't extensive but the food was delicious. I tried the TAB sandwich, which was so yummy. It had bacon, turkey, and apple. It was a perfect combo. I also got a peanut butter sandwich for my daughter and she enjoyed it too. The desserts also looked very yummy. Overall, this is a solid spot. It's also very clean and prices were very affordable. I'd highly recommend this spot if you're in Monticello. They also have a great little side store which sells honey. They had a great variety of honeys, shirts, towels and loads of other goodies. Came through the downtown area on the way back from donating items to the local school. My friend wanted to stop at what she described as "a great little place." The cafe is just the right size, indoor seating (there appeared to be one table outside). Good service. I ordered a piece of tomato/feta/spinach quiche and a slice of zucchini bread. My friend ordered the hippie chick salad and a slice of lemon cake. From what I understand, many of their ingredients come from local farms; the to-go container for my quiche appeared to be very biodegradable, which is great; love when restaurants are eco-friendly! While waiting for our order, we were able to step over a few feet to a nice little "gift shop like" store - Full Moon Farm Store. This store had all kinds of goodies, from locally made honey (various flavors) to goat milk scented soaps to essential oils. The young lady at the cash register in the store was so very pleasant. Back to our lunch - I enjoyed the quiche; some spinach on the top was a bit "crispy," but that was fine; the zucchini bread was tasty, though I did not care much for the chocolate chips that I didn't realize were in the bread. My friend enjoyed the chicken salad and her cake. I will plan to visit again and try that famous chicken salad - and perhaps the scones. read more

Although a seemingly quaint cafe in a small town, Tupelo's packs a flavorful punch! I have stopped in multiple times over the years while working in the Monticello area and always recommend this cafe to friends. They're scones are the best I've had in the entire area and always on my order when I come in. Seriously, the blueberry scones are incredible! You can taste the fresh berries and the pastry just crumbles apart in your hands. Pair them up with a nice cup of coffee and sandwich, and you're set! Stopped in for lunch after picking up some beef ribs at Johnston's Meat Market, had their Southwest salad with cilantro lime dressing. Salad was AWESOME, I even enjoyed the cilantro dressing. Tupelo's is always great for breakfast, brunch or lunch. read more

Came to this place from a recommendation from a friend as a place that supports local food. It's 5 miles off the highway so would never have found it. This place was very open and quiet. Tables were all types of different dining tables, ones you might find in your house, which made for a very cozy feel. Most of the food items were organic. Many baked goods including bread made daily. I went with the Italian Stallion sandwich. I love fresh bread. It just has a certain taste you'll never get from the grocery store. The dressing for the sandwich was especially tasty. Really a gem of a fund and a nice alternative to fast food if you're on the road. Will be sure to eat here again next time I drive through. read more

Breaking with our tradition, The Fat Guys crew moved the Friday Night Dinner Club to Saturday afternoon and made a somewhat abbreviated road trip to Monticello. FL. We've lived here since 1985 and have never visited Monticello. The plan was to eat lunch and do a bit of shopping. Our destination? The Tupelo Bakery and Cafe. Tupelo bills itself as using local organic ingredients whenever possible. Meats and cheeses are Boar's Head. Sandwiches do not come with any sides, so opt for the bagged chips if you need something extra. And notice that "Bakery" is the first word -- this is primarily a bakery that adds a few sandwiches. The decor is eclectic -- local artist Patty Maney paintings adorn the walls, there's a room featuring local honey, a "Wild Child" room, several mismatched tables, a couple of chairs and a couch. There's an exchange library to take advantage of, too. Quite comfortable it is. My partner had the Turkey and Swiss press. Today's bread was honey wheat so that's what the sandwiches were prepped on. Turkey and Swiss were paired with organic spinach and garlic cream cheese, then pressed. Nice press marks, warmed through, this was deemed a "very good" sandwich. My choice was the "Super Club". Again, honey wheat bread with turkey, ham, bacon, organic greens, onions, and tomato dressed with canola mayo and mustard. While I would not use the term "Super" for this sandwich, it was good. The sweet tea is quite good -- not "diabetic shock" sweet as Southern iced tea tends to be, but perfectly sweetened for our palates. Would we make the 30 minute drive just for lunch at Tupelo's? Probably not. But in conjunction with a shopping trip it makes for a nice respite. Be aware that lunch is served only from 11:30 to 1:30 Tuesday thru Saturday, so schedule carefully. We like that Tupelo utilizes local ingredients and that they support the Jefferson County Humane Society. read more

Ordered their tomato/feta/spinach quiche, a breakfast biscuit, pecan bar & zucchini bread. The crust on the quiche was super flakey & the egg filling very smooth. The biscuit was perfect - soft on the inside & just a little bit of a crisp on the outside. Our bread & bar were awesome as well. Super friendly shop to boot. Definitely worth stopping by! read more

Living in Monticello, this is my favorite place to eat. Their scones are amazing, and the people are even better.

Always a great meal from here , always clean, the employees are always very nice and polite and also attentive. One of the only good places to have breakfast in downtown Monticello. They have a wonderful atmosphere and even sell home made beeswax products such as soaps and candles and also honeybee apiary supplies. With great prices on everything and great food made from scratch this place would remind you of an evening better but smaller version of Cracker Barrel and no not the one in Tallahassee that Cracker Barrel is very good. read more
