This place looks so cute from the outside. So decided to go in an get a few pastries to try out. I got a few small treat items. Even though i wanted a apple caramel almond pie, i knew it was too much for myself but the price was $12 for a good size pie. I know i will definitely get onefor events here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and nice enough to walk through but it can definitely get too crowded here. I wish they had seating options as i would love to sit here and havesome pastries with a tea or coffee. The cookie crisps i got were good. I got a rainbow sprinkle cookie amd a lemon crisp cookies they were super crispy and the perfect 1 bite (2 bite snack). The raspberry nut bar was interesting and i enjoyed but i would not get a full size bar to eat. The portion size they had available was also good 2-3 bites. I also got a red velvet cake pop because i lovered velvet. I thought the cake pop i ordered was white on the outside but was happily surprised with the turkey design cake pop. I was a bit overwhelmed by so many sweet options since everything looked really good. I decided to get the passion fruit cheesecake and the chocolate mousse cake. I justify buying two cakes as not just me being a greedy pig but really this was my attempt at testing out two very different flavors. The chocolate mousse cake was smooth and would be a great choice for any chocolate lover. I was blown away by the passion fruit cheesecake, the flavor was delicious. We got my mother a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and it was absolutely delicious! I'm not a huge chocolate fan but this cake wasn't too chocolatey or sweet. It was very good! They up-charge you if you pay with a credit card. Their Linzer tart is tasty but it literally crumbles right after that first bite. I was barely able to save it. I also found the staff gruff, and not in a great way. It felt like they wanted me to get in, pay, and get out. It is like a milled out selection of baked goods, which they have a great selection of. The location is also not too conducive, a bit of a hike from the D train. That is no fun. For a Dyker Heights bakery (just outside Bensonhurst), it is a bit of a letdown. My aunt usually gets cannolis from here, so when I stopped by to get them for her, I was immediately captivated by all the desserts they have. Everything looked so good. I bought a few things to try. I was so exited to try everything that I forgot to take a picture before eating them, but here is a picture of everything half-eaten. I ordered the chocolate mini cannolis, traditional mini cannolis, red velvet cake, oreo cake, and ferrero cheesecake. I don't have too much to say about the cannolis since it's something we eat often. I thought the cakes, both the oreo and the red velvet were OK. They weren't as light and soft as I expected, they were good, but just ok good, not something I would get again. BUT the ferrero cheesecake though.... We were blown away by it! The cheesecake was so soft and creamy, perfect taste, with the crunch of the ferrero covering, perfection. Actually weny back the next day to buy more! I am also a bit pickier because I used to work in a great Italian bakery :) Tasty Pastry Shoppe combines some of these elements and the price point is reminiscent of old times. They make specialty cakes and pastries, hot foods, they have breads and chocolates and have also kept up with newer trends. The look of the display is very nice and visually appealing and the pastries are pretty good. The Ferraro Rocher pastries are vert rich and decadent, but delicious - I enjoy the hazelnut cannoli version of this. They also have the good French cream that isn't just whipped cream in pastries like the lobster tail. You can also get an extra large version and have them filled with cannoli cream if you want. Staff is nice and Jerry was so helpful and patient when I was here the first time. I had a wonderful experience and have been back since. I also enjoy the toffee candy which is hard for me to find a good one that comparable to the best one I've ever had (in Chicago). This place is just pretty nice. I see the wide variety of pastries and cookies and cakes that they have and it's really unique and colorful in there. There's not much space and there's no seating which makes sense because the pastry shop is just for to go. We ordered chocolate covered Oreos, some shortbread cookies, and also a cannoli. I haven't had many cannolis, but this cannoli just taste. OK there's nothing unique to it. I think that their pastries are pretty standard and they're pretty fresh because they just taste nice. The service is also good. The workers are friendly and they have your orders packaged so no notes on that. read more
