Came in during the weekend; by mid afternoon fresh baked breads were basically sold out. Got a Apple Strudel and a mini cannoli- both tasted good. The strudel had a lot of sweet apple filling; though the pastry wasn't as flaky and crispy as I had hope for. Counter staff was friendly and gave some good recommendations about their popular pastries and sweets. I'll surely remind myself to come in earlier to purchase their tasty breads. Overall, a good bakery

Word in the halls of Walgreen indicated that there's a hidden gem across the street. A conversation was struck while we all waited for our vaccine and the woman said her friend used to work at the bakery nearby, called 18th Ave Bakery. It was as if she read my gluttonous mind, she knew it had been a while since I laid my hands on some delicious rainbow cookies. I popped over to the shop and was welcomed by a gentleman behind the counter with his beaming smile and gracious demeanor. He was a pleasant individual equipped with a great sense of humor and a refreshing amount of enthusiasm talking about the baked goodies in the store that any customer would love to encounter. I asked whether he has rainbow cookies, and he was almost appalled that I never heard of his decadent colorful morsels. "You've never had a rainbow cookie until you've had mine! No one makes them like me," he exclaimed. One bite, all it took was one bite, and it was heaven. Chi non ama una buona pasticceria italiana? Grazie, grazie mille!

This is one of the last surviving original Italian coal oven bakeries in Brooklyn. They have the best seven layer cookies I have ever had in my life and an array of traditional Sicilian pastries like cannolis, lobster tails, napoleons and more. Their bread is famous in the area and I wish they had bread like this in Florida. They don't use any preservatives.

I had just had a driving lesson at Brooklyn driving school and upon walking home found this bakery; I ordered the rainbow cake slice thing and took a business card. The cake was moist, fresh tasting and delicious not artifical-tasting, dried out or stale like other bakeries I've tried in the area. So glad I took a business card, I'll definitely go back.

Very good bread here. I'm told but have not tried yet the lard bread which is said to be available only on the weekends.

Old world Italian Bakery in the heart of what used to be an Italian neighborhood. While the neighborhood changed the bakery kept its charm.

Simply the best Italian Bakery in Brooklyn. The cannolis are supreme, the fruit pastries light and sugary, and the breads superb.

This place definitely lives up to the hype! The food here is amazing, and when I say food, I mean…read moremore than just the baked goods. Starting off with the baked goods, the brown butter corn cake may be the single best pastry I've had in my life. It has a great crispy exterior and a super moist and decadent interior that just makes it the best pastry you could ever ask for. I also think they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city, and their cinnamon roll is light yet executed perfectly. In addition to their pastries, their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is this chili crisp tofu sandwich. It is packed with great flavor, perfectly tender tofu, and is layered between two pieces of delicious bread. I also love their arugula burrata prosciutto sandwich that is paired so nicely with their focaccia, making each bite the ultimate experience. While I've never waited in a really long line, I can say that they do move pretty efficiently. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to eat inside, but on a nice day, if you can grab a table outdoors, it's a great experience in the lovely Greenpoint neighborhood.

There was basil in the first sandwich that cuts through the fattiness of the meat and cheese which was great. The second sandwich had this spicy sesame sauce which was so good - was not expecting to like the tofu one that much. Brown butter corn bread was the most moist one I've ever had and the top was so crispy. Rhubarb pastry was good but nothing special - didn't taste the rhubarb.

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .
