My fiance and I were visiting the area while in NY and were looking for a place for lunch. We love Thai food, so when I found this spot on Yelp I figured we'd give it a try. This restaurant is located in a small group of street lined businesses, with parking along the street. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating on their patio. It was a chilly day, so we opted to sit inside. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive our entire visit. We ordered the Pad Garlic and Pad King lunch specials, both with chicken and hot spice level. The lunch specials come with a salad dressed with a sweet dressing. Our food was out in record time and was piping hot, so it's definitely a spot if you are in a time crunch- hello power lunch! We both thought our dishes were packed with flavor and although they had heat, we could have went with Thai Spicy. If we were local, this would definitely be our go-to spot! read more

1 Star - Absolute Rip-Off. Check Your Bag Before You Leave. ​I'd give them zero stars if I could. I ordered a large Tom Kha soup with both shrimp and chicken for pickup, and apparently, "large" means "half-empty" in their kitchen. ​To make matters worse, they completely forgot the chicken. I paid full price for a premium, multi-protein soup and ended up with a container of half-filled broth and a couple of sad shrimp. Charging customers full price for missing ingredients and cutting corners on portion sizes is a blatant rip-off. ​If you're going to order from Tasty Thai, bring a measuring cup, a magnifying glass, and check your food at the counter before you walk out. I was so ready to give this a 5! I ordered drunken noodles with tofu and veggies for takeout close to closing time. My order was ready as soon as I got there (~10-15 minutes). It was still hot when I got home and the noodles & veggies were delicious! I was so disappointed that they only gave me two pieces of tofu or else I would have put 5 stars. Not pictured was the chicken satay appetizer. 4 skewers with 2 chicken pieces each served with a peanut sauce and cucumber relish. The drunken noodle was fantastic. My only gripe is that I asked for it "hot" (they have "medium" "hot" and "Thai hot"). The waitress kept looking at me making sure I wanted it spicy and even came back during our meal to make sure it wasn't too spicy for me. Didn't ask my friend. Today I came to get a couple of lunch specials including a beef pad see ew, thinking maybe if I give them one more chance they'll get things right. Unbelievably, the food was inedible. The beef tasted spoiled and I had to spit it out immediately. I've gotten this dish from other Thai food places in the past plenty of times so I know what it's supposed to taste like. This was made badly, if I ate the beef I would probably get food poisoning. I called the restaurant to tell them what happened and instead of taking accountability the manager just yelled at me, blaming me calling me unreasonable when they're the ones that messed up my order in the past and messed up this one as well. They refused to give me a refund and just said not to order from them anymore. Well, I'll take that advice. I won't order from here anymore and I suggest none of you order from here either. I have no idea how this place got four stars. It doesn't even deserve one. God knows what the hell they're doing in that kitchen. It's probably unsanitary. I love ordering Pad See Ew when I try different Thai restaurants. This was the first establishment I tried it with Tofu instead of Chicken, it was good. You can choose a different protein with your order, I decided on the Tofu instead. There wasn't a lot of Tofu in the meal. Plenty of flat noodles and vegetables. I'm not sure if this is the case when it comes to choosing your protein, just to give you a warning in case you expect more in your dish. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and make sure to call ahead to see if they are open because sometimes they close at the in between time to get ready for the next shift. I was on the hunt to find panang curry chicken after tasting someone's leftovers purchased in Brooklyn. What I discovered for my first time at a Thai restaurant was a pleasant hostess, clean and cute tables while I waited for my dish. There was an abundance of pick up orders, so I was very excited to run home with my own. The chicken was flavorful but packed in a soup container and very saucy which I didn't expect. It was tasty nonetheless but since I'm not a Thai Connoisseur, I will just continue to explore other Thai dishes and restaurants. read more

I've been there twice. Once when I first moved close to the neighborhood, and another time more recently. Both times I was seated immediately. There aren't that many tables, and seem to do more business through delivery services and takeout. I have eaten at the location both times, and both times I've had a really good experience. The first time I got some crispy duck, and omg the food was delicious. I also got some chicken satay, which was also enjoyable. The second time I went I got a red chicken curry with some spring rolls, and I also really enjoyed everything. The prices are similar to other Thai spots. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the ambiance isn't anything special. Overall the food is delicious, and if you're in the mood for Thai and are close, I would recommend. read more

Returned to Tasty Thai for another meal. Got the Duck Gang Ped and the Tofu Pad Thai. Like the green curry chicken that only had one solitary piece of eggplant last time, the duck dish only contained one lonely grape tomato. The duck was a bit overcooked and dry, yet the skin was flaccid, breaded but not crisp, and fatty, not rendered. And, last time, medium spice dishes were way too hot for me to enjoy, so this time I ordered mild spice, and it was totally bland. The pad thai was mushy--the noodles were overcooked, and the tofu was rubbery. The pad thai at China House on Rte. 22 is much more to my liking. I might come back here to try some of the other dishes, but it fell short this time. read more

Outstanding food that can bring the spicy, or deliver a sweet dish for the family. We have eaten here two times in the past month, and have been impressed by the flavor and variety they have to offer here. From the sweet chicken dishes with pineapple chunks hidden amongst the veggies, to the more savory beef options with brown sauce or spicy Thai sauce, we have yet to find a dud. This is a newer store, and it seems they've worked out some early kinks with ordering, as both of our pickups only took 20 minutes to be ready. My daughter had the drunken noodles with chicken which were awesome and my son had the chicken fried rice which he enjoyed immensely. This is a small restaurant in the heart of Fanwood. We only did takeout. So far we love every single dishes we had. I'm going to mention this to them next time I'll call to order that Lek Mao and Drunken Noodles were little bit salty but still delicious. Came with my dad who is vegetarian and had good things to say about it from his prior experiences fwiw. In my opinion, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. To start, I got pretty violently ill after eating here. I got the drunken noodles with pork, which tasted fine at the time, but about 6 hours later I had issues for the entire night. I saw another review of someone saying the same happened to them, though it was way before my more recent visit here. No proof in this at all, but something was likely going around amongst the workers. My dad needed to go to the bathroom when we got in and the hostess said "someone is in there." There were no other patrons when we got in, so thought that was weird. We sat down and he waited about 10 minutes before going to wait by the bathroom. He waited another 5 min before one of the workers finally came out. He said another employee tried to then squeeze in before him, but he asked if it was fine if he could go since he had been waiting. Obviously this proves nothing, but I'm not sure what else one of the cooks would be doing in the bathroom for 15+ min. The bigger issue aside from getting food poisoning was the attitude of the staff. The person who sat us seemed annoyed when I asked if we could sit next to their front window instead of against the wall... even though there was no one else there when we showed up (only 1 other group of 4 showed up during our ~45 min there in addition to an Uber driver, so unlikely that it was being held). My dad wanted brown rice and white rice was brought with his meal. When he asked for this to be corrected (politely), the server just took the bowl away with an attitude without saying anything. We asked for chopsticks from server... she never brought them and I had to get up to get a set from the hostess myself. Whenever the server would refill our water glasses from a pitcher she would essentially dump water in each cup with no finesse, which resulted in a new puddle on the table every time she came back that she didn't think to wipe up or at least say sorry for. Maybe these are small things, but Thai spots are relatively common and in general neighborhood places like this aren't drastically different in food quality from one to the other so what differentiates them should be the service you receive. The decor isn't anything to write home about, it's a smaller space overall, and there's only one window towards the front. My experience was so poor here that I would never come back again or recommend that anyone go. At the very least had I not gotten sick I could say maybe just get takeout so you don't have to deal with employees, but it seems they have issues with their food on occasion as well.
