My wife and I went for breakfast here this morning. They asked what we wanted to drink and when I responded with Diet Pepsi and a mountain dew both no ice she then looked at my wife and asked what she wanted to drink. this begs the question do they actually listen and or think. if it was a soda and juice or coffee I could understand but a suger free cola and a very high sugar citrus wouldn't even make sense and then assuming that my wife is the one that would need the sugar free. then I order my breakfast that came with eggs and I added hash browns with onions. I asked for my eggs over medium and even specified the whites full done with the yolk runny. I got hash browns that were very soft and barely warm and eggs that were cooked with a very hard yolk. when the waitress returned I asked for the eggs to be recooked how I ordered them and hash browns that were hot and cooked. I then watched what I assumed was the manager at the kitchen window dissect them with his fingers and become very defensive with a poor attitude that I would send them back. when the food came back the eggs WERE correct (they did a very good job on the second set of eggs) but my hash browns were mush like they poured oil on frozen potatoes and chopped onions then stuck them in the microwave (I was literally able to make mashed potatoes out of them with my fork) and the onions were raw and crunchy. If breakfast for two is almost $40 (2 eggs, 3 sausage links, 2 slices of French toast with a side of hash browns) and ( French toast and 3 sausage links) and 2 fountain drinks. I should not get better food at McDonald's at that price and a sit down restaurant. read more

I started going to Tate's for lunch back in 2016 when I was an Admin at Fegely MS. Our whole office would order from them. We moved to Portage during the Pandemic, which meant that I was closer to Tate's Place! They have always had great food and great service! I recommend the Portage Cheese Steak, The Portage Cheese Steak (substitute chicken), or the Turkey Bacon Ranch Wrap! They are always good! read more

Ok so it's been 5 years since the last time I was there and this place has grown in quality and the prep of food is great. I ordered breakfast to go. Denver omelet which comes with toast and hash browns. I have had my fair share of to-go orders since covid and their togo was simple and perfect. But by the time I got home, it tasted amazing! Today was my first time going here. It will also be my last. I ordered a chef salad, with ranch dressing. My friend ordered sweet potato fries with a side of ranch dressing. First of all the salad was $11.99, and that was with one meat on it. If I wanted more meat I would have to pay for a deluxe salad. I've never seen that before. If it's a chef salad it has a multiple types of meat. I asked for shredded cheese, they gave me big, thick strips of cheddar cheese on top. The ham was also wide long strips, and was incredibly salty. The salad was basically a bowl of lettuce with the ham a hard-boiled egg a couple of cherry tomatoes and a couple slices of cucumber. But the real spoiler came with the first bite. I knew something was off. The dressing tasted like miracle whip not ranch dressing. My friend who also had ranch dressing said the same thing. I thought about sending it back and getting another salad with a different kind of dressing, but I didn't have time to wait for another salad to be made. I ate about a quarter of the salad, and I just couldn't tolerate the taste. Miracle whip does not belong on a salad. There's also the fact that I'm a diabetic, and I chose ranch dressing because it's low carb. What I got was miracle whip; probably, maybe? I don't know. So I don't really know what that's going to do to my sugar. When the server came back she asked me if I wanted a take out box and I said no. She said "are you finished"?, and I said yes. She didn't even ask if something was wrong, which seemed odd given that I had only eaten about a quarter of my salad that I paid $13 for. I told her about the dressing, and she insisted it was hidden valley ranch dressing. My friend and I both disagreed vehemently, saying we knew what hidden valley ranch dressing tasted like. Hidden valley ranch dressing tastes vastly different from miracle whip. Miracle whip or generic miracle whip, has a vinegar taste. It also has about 4 g of added sugar. So my friend and I were both displeased with our meals because she got the sweet potato fries to go with the ranch dressing and she couldn't finish hers either because of the ranch dressing. When check came, nothing had been taken off. Apologies were made. The server speculated that perhaps they ran out of hidden valley ranch and made their own. I disagreed as did my friend. That was not an attempt at ranch dressing. That was something very different than ranch dressing. The fact that, with both people being dissatisfied with their food, nothing was taken off the check, not even a discount. Just nothing. That just rubbed me the wrong way. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll just add Tates place to my, "Don't go back" list. read more

Honestly been driving by this place for the past few months, mistook it for a church. After discovering that it wasn't came in for breakfast. This is also an entrance to the Dunes trail; you can walk off your meal after (no excuses). I was Very satisfied, good service, Olivia was so nice attentive and dead on. They have an interesting menu, consumed the Mexico omelette for breakfast, with the raisin walnut bread (yum), a mild cup of coffee (no jitters), and them Fries. Okay, this may be a bit late considering that my friends and I went here in early July. BUT, it was so worth it. The restaurant had less than an hour to close, but the food was hot, delicious, and quick. I got an omelet with hash browns, if I remember correctly. Their bread also tasted delicious. Worst take out experience ever! I was given someone else's order and after telling them I am sure it wasnt mine they assured me it was. I checked it in the car and it def wasn't mine. I took it back in and watched it handed to another customer! Finally my food was brought and set on counter w/o telling me. I grabbed the bag and had to check if it were my order!! The bacon was burnt, they gave me 1 biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and the food was cold. This is the first time having a bad experience like this at this restaurant. Local establishments claim that they're hurting for business but this place actually refuses business. They must have a millionaire for an owner or they doesn't care if they have to lay off people & close. I was trying to give an order to a local establishment as opposed to a large chain. Uber eats offered this place for delivery. I did a whole order of $140. It took Tater's Place an hour to cancel my order and say they don't do Uber eats. And then when I called they were really rude and hung up on me. And the owner wouldn't come to the phone. So I would stay away from this place because they don't care about getting business nor about customers. We were trying to order food because our cousin's daughter is dying on hospice in the living room and they couldn't bother to let us know so now no one has food. Horror show. read more

Came here with family its their neighborhood spot. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich my wife ordered the chipotle beef panini. Service was good, staff is friendly, food was just ok. The chipotle beef panini came out with toasted warm bread melted cheese and cold meat. I asked for a side of marinara came out cold. my wife ordered a side au jus for her panini came out luke warm.
