This is because this place has several artist and in my opinion each one has a style which I think it's amazing as they will perfect the stype of art you are looking to get. I was able to go over details and what I wanted to get done... We went over the calendar and worked together to make the date happen that worked best. Please note that I previously did my homework by researching the type of work on the sites IG plus I was referred here. I just had my second session with Ms. Kelsey. She's just great, and I can't say enough good things about her. I mean that simply from a client interaction level. Just a good person. She values time, and she knows her worth. I'm not going to speak too much about skill level as I'll let the pictures do that. She's just great. I always feel like businesses in the second floor are highly sketchy for some reason...not sure why but that's usually my first initial thought. Tattoo Boulevard was the complete opposite of that. I had been following tattoo artist Barry San for the past year after seeing some work he had done on a performer at the Tiki Hut (I know so random) and loved it. I was finally ready to get a piece wanting to get some closure for the next chapter in my life. I had a consultation with him prior to scheduling my session and it was amazing. The space itself is very open and spacious and I felt comfortable as the walls were adorn with various art work from the different artists. My session was on a Sunday....meaning free street parking! From start to finish my experience was fantastic! The details, the vibes, so much unexplanable awesomeness...the design/detail completed piece was more than I could've imagined. I just moved to Chicago and was in search of tattoo artists to get my sleeves going. I stumbled upon John Bass' Instagram page and instantly fell in love with his work. Let me tell you...this guy is TIMELY when it comes to replying to clients and made it so easy for me. I basically just sent him my reference photos for ideas along with a photo of where I wanted the tattoo placed and we were able to plan a date and time within a week. The shop itself was super spacious and clean. I came on a Monday (appointment only) and loved that it wasn't crammed. John took his time answering all of my questions and gave great input when I was torn between placement. He put his own spin on my original idea and offered suggestions on what he thought would make the tattoo look best. I could tell he actually cares about how a tattoo looks on a person as opposed to just doing exactly what the client wanted and collecting his $$$. During the tattoo, we didn't have much conversation but I just let him be in his zone-- it wasn't awkward at all. He always made sure I was comfortable and okay to continue. I sat for about 3.5 hours. He surprised me with adding white detailing which I was not expecting at all but was something I always wanted on my tattoos so it ended up being perfect actually. So good! I got my first two tattoos here from Luke. I found him on instagram after searching for someone for awhile. He was super nice and it was easy to make an appointment. My mom and I got matching words on our wrists. He gave us multiple options for sizing and placement. I also got a butterfly on my ankle. I hadn't even thought of it, but he offered to do details in white which I love and look so good. I came back recently with my cousin. I wasn't getting a tattoo but I just went with her. All the artists and team members there are very welcoming and accommodating, it makes you feel confident and comfortable in their environment. So... A+ to start with. I was lucky enough to land a session with Adrian Morales, and let me tell you, this dude is a master and a true artist. I came in with a good idea of what I wanted and after consulting with Adrian he added ideas that blew my mind and made it even better. Adrian takes his craft very seriously, he puts everything he has into every piece of art he creates, he has an amazing style and will work with you to infuse that style to create a beautiful piece of art. That being said, don't expect to go in there with a plain piece of clip art and expect him put that on your body, like I said Arian is an artist, and there are plenty others that will tattoo clip art. Adrian leaves you with a piece of him that you will carry forever, he takes pride in that and will do whatever it takes to make that art perfect. So in conclusion, if you want to go on a journey to get the best piece art possible, i suggest you go see Adrian. Superb work on my sleeve. Very friendly atmosphere and professional artists and staff. Tattoo Boulevard was recommended to me by my brother-in-law after he had his sleeve and shoulder work done by Rhyno. I contacted the shop via their Instagram, and started consulting with Rhyno about some work. After a few days of conversation I set up an appointment for October 2019. The process was easy and convenient. During that time Rhyno and I bounced designs back and forth. I decided on a forearm piece of a tengu before getting more. I came in and the shop was similar to most tattoo shops. The artists' are work hung around the shop, which was quite sophisticated. To me at least, as it felt like there were more there than just skin art. Usual paperwork and was off. Rhyno explained the process and got going on the piece. He knew a lot about Japanese folklore and history. Very affable. After it was done, about 4 hours, the price was very reasonable. Side note, if you're going to a tattoo parlor expecting a bargain price for a custom design be realistic. They do offer $100 sales, but for custom pieces expect to pay. After the forearm, we started to discuss the design for the sleeve. Set up another appointment and got to discussing art choices. After a few weeks I settled on momiji on a cloud background for the sleeve. Process same as before and scheduled 2 more sessions. Again, first-time people keep a realistic timeframe for large work. Mine took many months and countless hours. I cannot stress enough how friendly everyone at the shop is. Everytime they were making a food run Rhyno asked if I wanted to join in. I don't really like eating while getting tattooed or sitting for a long time. Everytime someone asks to see my sleeve I am quick to mention Rhyno and Tattoo Boulevard. read more

Absolutely awful experience with Adrian Morales. I went to him because the first time he did a good job with a script on my back. He was super easy to work with. The second time I went for a portrait. He showed up two hours late for the appointment. I was the first of the day. The portrait had a script underneath. He had trouble writing it on paper and then I verbally spelled it out. He seemed confused and I frustratingly took the paper from him and spelled it out. "Do what thou wilt." He was writing "do what though wilt." Really... Thinking the matter was settled I was happy. Until after I was horrified that It contained his original spelling mistake that I had corrected twice before. No wonder he cropped out the script from his Instagram because he realized his mistake. He did not own up. Accused me of making the mistake. And blocked me on IG as well as removed the original image which I screenshotted before he took it down. Amazing first tattoo experience at Tattoo Boulevard! I had my tattoo done by Angel, the shop owner and an incredibly talented artist. I worked with him to get a tribute tattoo done for my mother and he helped to adjust it and make it even better. I am so happy with the result. On a whole, Tattoo Boulevard is a very spacious and clean place. All the artists are very friendly and have personalized their own work spaces. I just wanted to write a quick review of my experience getting my first -and second!- tattoo here with the great Miguel Mercado. My buddy and I came here to get Miguel's stamp. We set an appointment and when we arrived the wait was short. Miguel was very nice and listened to what we wanted. For my particular tattoo, he redesigned his stamp and included what I wanted, which is the Picasso sculpture located at the Daley Plaza. This was my first tattoo. I was not nervous or anything, and if I have to describe the pain for starters, I'd say something like 2 or 3 in a scale of 10. When you are getting the tattoo, it feels like they are slicing bread with a knife. The day after, it felt like a sun burn, a very bad one. Again, the pain never went beyond 3 in a scale of 10. I understand pain is a very subjective feeling, so for every individual it is different. I was very happy with my first tattoo. It healed in 10 days following the given instructions, and it looks great! A month later I went back to see Miguel again for my second tattoo. This time, I wanted a stamp of Barcelona, the city I was born in. So I have the couple of cities I love: the city I was born in, and the city that adopted me. For Barcelona, it was very clear to me I wanted the Sagrada Familia temple on it. I kind of wanted the Catalan flag as a background also, but I did not know where to place it. Miguel went the extra mile and spent whatever time necessary to find the best fit. Incredibly, he came with a design that resembled the Antoni Tapies art, which is a Catalan artist I am very fond of. So there you go, as you can see in the pictures I uploaded, I have the two cities I love "stamped" on my back. I recommend Tattoo Blvd, and I particularly recommend Miguel to get a tattoo. Every artist here is impressive, but I personally was looking for a great black and grey artist. I found Adrian Morales on Instagram and HAD to get tattooed by him after seeing his work. He made setting up my appointment extremely easy. I was super nervous going in for my first tattoo, but I quickly felt relaxed once Adrian and I started talking ideas for a design. It didn't feel rushed and I could tell he really cared about helping my bring my ideas to life (he somehow made sense of what I thought was the nonsense I was trying to explain lol) I had a million questions about aftercare that he was more than patient with me about, and my tattoo healed perfectly. I'm in the military and have found Tattoo Boulevard the only shop in Chicago worth investing any of my time or money into. I'm not sure where these negative reviews are coming from because they do not give one ounce of factual information. Let me give you the real scoop. I usually only make it into town once or twice a year, and after years of searching for the right artist and right shop I thankfully finally found Adrian at Tattoo Boulevard. He has always been punctual with his time, and always puts in more effort than I would have ever expected. After building a client/artist relationship he always makes sure that when I'm in town he makes time for me to be able to get tattooed. And his work is unsurpassed in the Chicagoland area, and trust me I have looked time and time again. Next let's talk about the shop itself, the walls are decorated with all of the shops artists work. You can see the diversity of art that this shop can provide. These artists are like a family and if one artist thinks his partner can do a better job for that style they will introduce you to the better artist for the job. They have a comfortable waiting area, and professional work sections. There's plenty of space for you to bring a friend or loved one if you're nervous to come alone. Although you have no reason to feel nervous this shop is a big family. I love Tattoo Boulevard and will never get a tattoo anywhere else. It's difficult to give a true rating because I had 2 very different experiences here. I first came as a walk in and had a terrific experience with John bass. He greeted me warmly, worked with me to generate great ideas, and was meticulous and thoughtful in his tattooing. He was friendly and kind. However, for my second experience I had made an appointment a week in advance with Miguel. I had shared ideas with him by email of what I was hoping for my tattoo. He showed up almost an hour late to our session, and had no idea what kind of tattoo he was doing. Every other artist I've booked with in the past always has come to the appt with at least a sketch or rough draft ready. He did not seem to care at all. He was rushing me to pick one of his prior designs rather than try to create something personal and unique. The price quoted seemed high for a cookie cutter small rose and then he told me after all that he was cash only! I did not feel comfortable moving forward so I left. That experience definitely ruined my first great impression! read more

Kelsey was very professional and did a fantastic job. I hadn't had a tattoo in over 20 years but she made me feel comfortable and at ease. While I was waiting other artists were friendly and helpful. One guy actually spent 20 minutes fixing the image I wanted before Kelsey was available just to be nice. The ambiance of the place is fantastic, with beautiful artwork by the artists on the walls and good music and movies playing. I would definitely return there if I was to get another tattoo. The only reason this is not a 5 star is I had made an appointment the day before and they said Bill would contact me and do my work. Bill did not call me and I waited for 90 minutes and he did not show. So as long as you don't get Bill, I highly recommend the place. We worked for two weeks on a design back and forth numerous times till we got it just right. Tyler has done my whole neck left and right arms and one calf. So I've know the guy for a long time and consider him not only as my tattoo artist but a good friend as well. Reason for a 4/5 star is because the guy that was copying IDs and handing out paper work literally just threw papers at me and I can understand that it's busy and you're in a hurry but it's still unprofessional, other than that I thought it was really cool how they had three different boards and each one had a price point for you to pick out from, I picked a $60 tattoo and my artist was "rugrat", super friendly guy, clean shop, and made good conversation through the pains, I wouldn't mind coming back for a future tattoo! read more
