Been coming here since 2016 and I can't say enough great things. I've gotten my whole sleeve done by Enson in 2016-2017, and he's still there today! Great work, friendly, and knows what he's doing. He even touched my sleeve up 9 years later when I moved back to the island! I truly feel like family when I go here. Tina and Olga at the front desk are the sweetest ladies and they make sure you're well taken care of. You can catch me up there chatting with them before and after every appointment. I've never seen bad artwork come out of this shop. Every artist is amazing, they all have their own style and vibes, so you're sure to find one you like! I got part of my leg and my fingers done by Huevo. Goofy dude but puts out great work as well. From American traditional, to fine line, to horror. He even did my boyfriend's sleeve! Prices depend per artist but it is Waikiki and it is Hawaii - what you expect for the location and the quality of work. Inside of the shop is spacious and clean. It makes me really sad to write this review, but almost a year later, and i'm still extremely sad with my experience with the artist, James Pope. In November of 2020, I booked a consultation with James for a really meaningful piece to cover up self harm scars on my thigh. It was something that took me years to finally do. Come the consultation day, James was late. When he arrived he was not apologetic or welcoming. He did not greet me, he just sat down and expected me to start talking. This was my first big piece, so I didn't know really what to say. I ended up showing him the size of what I wanted, where I wanted it, and I gave him many examples of what I liked and made it VERY CLEAR what I did not like. I showed him pictures of peonies I liked, and showed him what I did not like in some photos, just so he knew exactly what not to do. We had this consultation so he could draw it up and have it ready for my appointment a week or so later. I told him I DID NOT want lines in the petals of the flowers, I wanted the centers to be dark and the petals light, and I wanted the petals to be rounded and feminine. He quoted me $1k for this tattoo, and of course I did not like the price, but I figured he would do a phenomenal job giving me what I wanted, and this tattoo meant the world to me. To finally let go of all of the pain and hurt that those scars reminded me of. Come the night before my appointment, I get a call in the late evening, I don't remember the time, but I do know it was already dark outside. It was the receptionist saying that James wanted to reschedule our appointment because he needed to leave the Island and catch a flight in the early afternoon. He still took me the next day because I said that I didn't have any other days, because I didn't. I had just my daughter a month before. He was late and drew the stencil that day. After I arrived. Something he was supposed to have done already. The stencil was very pretty and I did not see anything I didnt like (because there was no shading and no harsh lines). As he was tattooing me, I found out he was going to cancel my appointment because he was going to the big island to buy a boat. Nothing urgent. I also did not ask for any breaks and could not see what was being done, so I didnt see the tattoo until after all these line work was done. I was so so sad. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he could fix it. He charged me $1,000 for 3 HOURS, and did everything I asked not to do. That is $333 per HOUR. James, was this worth $333 per hour, $1,000? I have reached out to him multiple times since then, telling him how devastated I have been. This was such a meaningful tattoo. I'm still heartbroken. He has told me he'd give me half of my money back (which I paid $1k STILL even though he did everything i asked him not to do), and he has told me numerous times he'd pay for me to get it removed. I've told him he could do that, and he said he'd talk to the person who removes them and he'd get back to me. Every time I'd reach out, he'd say that. He never would get back to me. And I have told him multiple times that my family is military and will be leaving the island in february, so it would need to be done soon. Still nothing. I'm sorry to be writing this  post, but I don't want anyone to go through what I am still trying to deal with. To reiterate, this was a tattoo to cover my self harm scars. Something to finally set me free. Something to cover them. Now i'm just reminded of my past as well as my horrible experience and the fact that I paid $1,000 for everything I had asked not to do. This is forever. I wish he had taken it seriously. If there's any way this shop could help me, I'd appreciate it. read more

My husband and I are moving from Honolulu back to the Mainland, and we each decided to get a tattoo to keep Hawaii with us. We're in our early 60s and have never had a tattoo before, so we did our research, read lots of different place's reviews, and checked around in person to see which tattoo company would be best for us. Tattoo Licious is absolutely THE BEST!! Their shop is by far the cleanest and it's the most organized with enough space so that we were not crowded in with other people at all! They're even the only tattoo shop that has a coffee shop attached inside, which was pretty cool. ENSON, our tattoo artist is FANTASTIC! He understood that we're newbies to tattoos and patiently explained everything we needed to know, from design to aftercare!! We each had our own designs in mind, which we explained to him, and he came up with the perfect final designs! Tattoo Licious is ultra-clean; they use only sterilized equipment on each person, no ink colors were reused between us, and we felt very safe. I cannot begin to convey how great this tattoo shop is. The ambiance is top notch-probably one of the best shops I've been lucky enough to encounter. Tina and Jenna (and everyone at the front desk) were very friendly and helpful. They arranged for me to receive this tattoo on the last day of my vacation outside of their normal operating hours so that I could get this done without interfering with my plans. I love that they did this fundraiser and I was very pleased to be acquainted with the owner, Sean (who came in hours early to do my tattoo himself.) if I could give a thousand stars I would. I had a tattoo done here by Andy a few years ago and it's the worst ink I have on my body, in a collection of 7. I hate it so much and I can't wait to get it removed or covered. While he was super nice and we had great conversation, the quality is absolutely awful. I keep it covered at all times. The lines are very thick and blown out, and extremely, extremely, shaky and uneven. I brought in a picture of The Great Wave, a famous art piece. He wanted to change it to match the colors of more tropical waters - like Hawaii. I agreed and thought it was a neat idea. He ended up making the sky fade from a unsettling yellow straight into black for the sunset. Which didn't blend, didn't hold, and now looks awful. He didn't do anything in white even though the waves are dramatically white capped. Most of the color has fallen out and is splotchy. It's nearly 5" tall and I paid over $300... My regular tattoo artist now scolds me for getting a tattoo on vacation, and I will never do it again! Hopefully I can eventually get it fixed. read more

I did not enjoy writing this review because I love my tattoo artist and I really love all of my tattoos which make me want to keep coming back. I love recommending this shop to others because I am so happy with my tattoos! My tattoo artist is also very kind and I enjoy all my sessions. I definitely rate my tattoos and my artist a 5/5. I have been to Tattoolicious three times. All three times, my tattoo artist has been at least 45 mins late to my appointment. I try my best to give the benefit of the doubt because life happens. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time my artist was very late. I got a confirmation yesterday to confirm my appointment was at 11am. I got in later at 11:30 am because I had a feeling my artist would be late again and I would just have to wait an hour for my appt. My artist still was not there when I showed up and I was already late... then the receptionist told me that the artist mistaken my appointment for 1pm. I was confused on how this could have happened especially since I did receive a confirmation for my appointment via voicemail the day before for 11am. This shows my appointment was in the Tattoolicious schedule system. Either there is a lack of communication between the receptionist and artist or something else is going on. I went to the front to check if my artist was there at 12:50pm and she still was not. I was hoping there would be at least some urgency to come in a little earlier since my artist had made a mistake for the timing of my appointment. I decided to leave because I was very upset, and her not being there at 12:50 means I would have to wait again(past 1pm) for her to setup her equipment. This was such a waste of time and money since I drove back and forth from Kapolei. The least I got was validation for my parking which I still had to pay since the validation was not enough. Customer service rating: 1/5 It is honestly inconsiderate of my time and schedule. What makes me even more disappointed is that the tattoo shop keeps letting this happen and only apologizes for it. Apologizing and not doing anything for customers is not sincere. As a paying customer, I should not be the only one on time for my appointment, my tattoo artist should be ready. If this is something that keeps happening, I should at least be compensated or at least receive a discount which I have not received what so ever. This saddens me because again, I love the tattoos I have gotten from this place. read more

Where do I start? I came back within just shy of one month to get this second piece. My artist (RJ) is an absolute badass at what he does. This piece was more than special to me because it signifies my people and culture. RJ took it to another level and completely killed it! I am stoked to have a chance at another tattoo done by him. Went here before the holidays to get something to treat myself to this crazy year. They were really safe about the appointments and the way they used the spaces, everyone was masked up and the space is nice and modern and really well ventilated. I had the visiting artist Lena who was just such a dream, so nice and really great conversation (took two sessions and a lot of hours haha). Mike mocked our design and made fun of us for the entire session. He was very harsh and aggressive with our bodies! One bad apple.. So we've been going to the islands every couple of months and it's been a tradition to get inked while we are there. I had this artist do 60% of the work I have. We made consultation appointments, which was locked down, and even paid the deposit for the actual tattoo (Poly tattoo, very detailed). We also sent photos of the design I wanted. The day of my scheduled consult comes and he's in California! Fair enough. Front desk and artist decides that the consult can happen over zoom (whatever, who does tattoo consult over zoom?). Surprise...the zoom didn't happen; no further communication comes back from him. I booked two sessions -- Friday and Saturday. It was then decided by the artist and the shop that the consult could be on the same day as the actual inking. Wasn't ideal, but I agreed. The artist walks in and orders me to show what I wanted. I explained and right away he says it's not possible and in the next moment, reconsiders and says it can probably be done the next day. I reluctantly say alright, coz initially that was what the consult was all about. Getting it right! Then he proceeds to say my vibe is off! WTF!! I am speechless! He's about my size, (6'2-3 but like 30 pounds more, so he imposes in a threatening way). I am there for an F* tattoo, not fighting. He says he doesn't think it's right to go through with it. F* yeah! I wouldn't let a raging artist put ink on me. So I packed up and left. I was very disappointed coz this chap has done quite a bit of work on me but not sure what came over him to be such an ass. I had the option to report it to management but not worth it. So again, vet your artists. Now, this is a brilliant establishment, mark my words. But a few artists there have an ego. Pick your artist appropriately. PS: This is a nice tattoo parlour. My girlfriend had a great tattoo done here. Just my experience. Just a few egotistic assholes. Do your homework. I had a tattoo appointment with Zee, with a $100 deposit. Due to my finances being a bit precarious this month due to unexpected travel, I was worried about the cost of the tattoo. I wanted to make sure I could afford it without putting my family in jeopardy financially. I wasn't sure if the tattoo was gonna cost $300 or $1500 or by the hour or what? From personal experience, the cost of a tattoo can vary greatly. I called the shop and asked if I could get a quote or price estimate for the tattoo. The receptionist advised me to ask Zee. I messaged Zee on IG (the only way I know to contact her) and asked her a few questions including the estimated cost of the tattoo. She responded to everything but the question of price - not even acknowledging that I had asked. I then wrote another message asking only asking how much the tattoo was gonna cost. Zee, again, did not even acknowledge the question. I ended up skipping out on the appointment because I couldn't get anyone to give me anything resembling a price quote. I don't think it is too unreasonable to know what something is gonna cost before you have to purchase it. I feel a bit disrespected that Zee wouldn't even acknowledge my questions about the cost. For my $100 donation to Zee and TL, I will be sure to advise people to stay away from this particular artist and shop. read more

My boyfriend and I get new tats every time we are on vacation. I do my research in advance and found this place to be a good fit for us. We booked our appointments a month in advance for the last day of our trip with two different artists for 4pm. The day before I got a call from the receptionist saying my artist (Huevo) needed to leave early and asked if I could get there any earlier. Not what we planned on for our last vacation day but ok. We got there at 1:30. The design he made was good, I asked for a couple small alterations which he did easily and I am very happy with my happy shark. The girl up front even tried to get him to stay for a walk in and he was like "what do you not understand? I need to leave. So no." So after about an hour, he's done and off he goes. Super fun friendly guy. Thanks Huevo! And now we wait for my boyfriends appointment at 4:00 with Andy. We sat in the waiting room while Andy did a piece on a girl. 4:00 comes and he's wrapping up. She leaves and he starts prepping for my boyfriend. But then another hour or so goes by and now it's almost 5:30. The front desk girl that was there when we got there left and another came in. I finally say something to second girl because like hello? What are we doing here? We got there early because they asked us to accommodate them but this was our last day here and we have other things to do. She mentions it to Andy and poor guy was waiting on us, no one told him we were there for him! He apologized but it wasn't his fault. Anyway my boyfriend got his tat which was much larger than mine and we finally got out of there close to 9pm. Missed our dinner reservation and got a bag of chips from the ABC Store. So to summarize, the shop is nice and clean, the artists are very good, the communication needs work. The second girl was helpful, but that first one was either stoned or dumb or both. read more
