There are a lot of great golf courses in Florida. This is absolutely not one of them and is an abomination considering that Sarasota is a hotbed of the state. They really should build houses on the course... no not around the course I mean they should tear up this cow pasture and build houses on it. Actually, comparing this course to a cow pasture is an insult to the actual cow pastures everywhere. This is worse. Unless you like teeing of on what I actually through was a bunker. Zero grass. Not worth playing. Bunkers are overgrown with weeds and no apparent maintenance. Fairways are devoid of golf course type grass. Weeds and bunch grass everywhere. Tees are mostly sand and spotty grass to dead grass. Bathrooms are tolerable but with no water stations anywhere nor any concessions on the course. Paid $82 and wasn't worth the money. When we first got there I was immediately surprised how bad they people there working treated us. And we're here on vacation to play golf. And I really enjoyed the course. Just NOT THE EMPLOYEES. And even at the end of the round we still got attitude from the workers for simply asking " if the clubhouse was still open" Again do not recommend this course because of the employees. I played golf here on 10/26/23, with my family, for my older brothers birthday. We started off with 7 of us ( my brothers and our sons), and the manager (Eric) approached us at the first hole to inform us that we had too many players for one group. We are not avid golfers, and we were unaware of these particular rules, but regardless, we split up into 2 groups to be courteous players. My younger brother and I completed the first 9 holes, and then we waited for the rest of the family to finish. My little brother walked into the pro shop to use the restroom, and was met with Eric again. He was extremely rude to him, and immediately said, "I thought I told you that you can't have 7 people in one group." Eric was quick to snap at my brother and was obviously not paying attention, because our family DID SPLIT the groups up, and we had done exactly what he asked. We were being courteous and following the rules of the course. Eric needs to learn how to treat the paying customers that visit this course. I always thought of golf as a gentleman's sport, and I would have thought the people who work there would have more class than this. There are plenty of golf courses in Sarasota, and I will not waste my money on this one again. read more

The staff are terrific- they bring the cart right to your car & load your clubs. Schedule your tee time online- it's super fast & really easy. The course may need a little lovin', but it's fun to play and it has some challenging holes. The greens are fast & will totally fool you, so pay attention to those putting before you. If you're looking for a PGA perfect course, then go pay a couple hundred to play... but if you want a fun course at a GREAT price, this is a perfect way to spend some time frustrating yourself. Booked a 3:30 pm tee time for 2. Arrived 30-min. early. We were told they were out of carts & we would be sent out as carts returned. Finally got out 45 min. late. We elected to stop after 9-holes since we only had about 20 min. before sunset. I reached out to the course the next day & was told this should be expected this time of year in FL, that is why we received a discounted rate (still paid over $70 for 2 players). Two weeks earlier we played Bent Tree with a similar tee time & played all 18 holes. Buyer Beware! I will not return. read more

We were late in getting there for our tee time by about 10 minutes because of an accident on a ramp to I-75. We called the course and they were very understanding. We were worked in to start almost right away after arriving very efficiently and finished our 18 holes in just a little over 4 hours. Course is a bit rough but it gets a lot of play so not bad for a public course in the Sarasota area. read more

Most courses were full but we got on at Tatum. So did everyone else apparently as it was a 5+ hour round. The price was right tho, one of the lowest in the area. The layout was good, although not the finest kept course in the area. The greens were true and not too fast. Only rentals they had were women's clubs and a brand I've never heard of. We dealt with it. Small pro shop/snack bar. Full driving range and practice greens. For a quick round, the price is not a bad deal, but if you're looking for the true Florida golf experience look elsewhere read more

It's nice course BUT for $60 it's not worth the price, why? The greens are TERRIBLE! Nearly every green has problems with fungus and they are all top coated and look bad. I'd play it again but for no more than $30. read more

Played yesterday, greens are rough, fairways marginal and sanded in spots. Tee boxes missing white markers on a few. Overall, wouldn't pay more than 25 bucks for 18 here. Won't be back this May 20. Make sure if you book here you do so online because at the pro shop, they will charge you 40+ with cart. Uhm, not worth it if you ask me. read more

Friendly staff work here. Interesting layout, wide fairways. Very good course for intermediate golfers like we are. Greens are pretty difficult to read. Condition of the course is average, but we will highly recommend the golf course. read more

They only have a very limited menu on weekends if you are thinking of eating after golf. Course is ok condition. Could use some work. Very playable with a couple hard par 5 dog legs around water. Greens are faster than expected. Lots of breaking putts. read more

This place was pretty shabby to say the least. Not much grass of the fairways and some pretty ragged greens. The layout isn't bad but the conditions don't make it very enjoyable. The rental clubs were weak as well. We only got 12 holes in before the rains and they were very fair about issuing a credit .... sad part is the credit hasn't shown up on my card... also be careful making your on line tee time as it is through golf now and that isn't quite clear by the website so it comes with a $5.98 booking fee. read more

Don't bother going there!!! Just played during the week of April 12th. This course used to be a great track and in great shape. The staff is great and I am sure you can get a tee time, but the course is in horrible shape. The previous owners let it go before selling. No rain and no watering of the course has not helped.. I would wait a year before I would go back and check on the condition of the course. Also be careful to check the fee and times if you only want to play 9holes. We payed for 18 holes $90 bucks and only played 9 thinking that's what we had booked. The person on the phone did not explain the price and different times when we booked. read more

Friendly staff ? Dont get me started since the other week when i went to check in and pay $40 to play, the old boy behind the desk would not look up from the computer screen to say ???? ANYTHING !!! I paid $40 by using Golfnow or i would have had to pay $55 in which case i would have been upset. Course was in okay condition, but nowhere near a $55 track. If you have never played here before, let me say that it is an easy layout and why anyone would pay regular prices is beyond me. Many better courses for less money in the area. read more

Came back to try Tatum again at the end of July to see if it had gotten better. Maybe a little, but it was a slow day so play flowed freely. Not the usual long wait between shots. I used to love this course, the 13th and 15th are two great holes. Cart guys are still just as aggressive about the tips and you will never see a ranger out on the course. read more

Everything about our experience at Tatum Ridge was 5 star. The staff was friendly and a cart was driven to us when we arrived. The pace of play was incredible as our threesome played 3:15!!!! The course was in great shape and the greens were true. The snack bar had cups of water lined up for us before, after nine, and at the end of our game. I highly recommend this course to anyone playing in and around Sarasota/Venice. read more
