Went there on a Tuesday night, clean with good customer service. Love the fact that everything is halal. Ordered pistachio, Black Forest and chocolate pastry, chicken Kati roll, samosa chaat. Chicken Kati roll was a bit spicy so I made my husband trade his samosa chaat for my Kati roll. The paratha of Kati roll was good home made paratha. Samosas chaat was good. Nothing extraordinary but a good clean place to have halal food. Three stars because a bit pricey for what it is. read more

Frankly speaking I don't like giving poor reviews and I expecting a lot from this place being a Bombay style restaurant and food but I feel like any restaurant should stay up on the quality of food..we ordered Amul pizza, sev puri, lamb roll and paav bhaji delivery. Pizza and lamb roll was good hence the 2 stars but sev puri had like 6 pieces and was for 11$ not enough for the price time quantity and effort needed to put it together and didn't have much of the Mumbai taste Paav bhaji was literally the worst bhaji ever tasted- no salt no pepper it was bright red like food color was poured into it(I make it at home so I can tell by color what's been used) also you could chunks of canned tomatoes and peels of potato...zero efforts on making just a great dish...not sure why there was no effort in preparing this dish as it's pretty easy as is to make from scratch.. very disappointed read more

Super solid option for both traditional + western style Indian food (and bonus points for being halal!). My party and I ordered curries, keema, burgers, and kati rolls. I love the variety of dishes they have here, and portions are large for the price. All of our dishes were flavorful and authentic. I would say some of our dishes (like the keema and kati rolls) were on the spicy side. Otherwise can't wait to come back and try out more of the Indian delicacies. read more

Tried this spot out today finally (it's been on my list). The sign inside says they serve authentic Indian street food here. After having 3 different things on their menu, I believe it! I placed an order from DoorDash on a Friday evening and the restaurant cancelled the order after 50 mins. When I called the restaurant to confirm the person confirmed that they have too many orders to process so they canceled the order without offering an apology!! Ordered pani puri, paneer kati roll and sweet lassi.The puri's were stale, the filling was just boiled chick pea's and nothing else.The kati roll is dripping of oil literally.. n how can anyone mess up sweet lassi?? One of the most unethical, unprofessional and disgusting restaurants in Virginia. Ordered online, ended up waiting for more than 90 minutes beyond the time slotted for pickup for the order, kept getting all sorts of shitty bullshit excuses, and finally they screw up the entire order itself after making us wait for 2 hours for a pickup. The restaurant and it's owner doesn't care about patrons waiting endlessly, and only care to serve for the biggest order, which at the time was a catering order. The staff is rude, apathetic and unhygienic to the point of disgust. Upon observing their kitchen hygiene, it appears to worst than the public restrooms at Walmart or a 7-11. read more

This place was not good at all. The food was super mediocre and honestly I've had better Indian/ Desi food other places. The Kati rolls were yuck. Like couldn't even finish it and it was reeking with a strong masala spice that seemed like it was badly marinated. Really enjoyed this new place! I ordered Samosa Chaat and would like to go back to try other dishes. Great flavor and very fresh. Edit 7/28 - I went back a week later with someone else since I enjoyed it so much! We ordered the Samosa Chaat again, which actually was made a little differently- thicker?- and I think I liked it even better. We also ordered the chicken Bhuna Masala, perfect with naan. And of course a mango lassi, because you can't go wrong there. Unfortunately the pizza was sold out, we'll need to head back again to try that. :) read more

I've been to this restaurant twice now, fun concept and unusual menu items especially for an Indian restaurant in the States. Pros - Junglee roll, chicken tikka pizza, dahi puri and vada pav are all excellent, the taste definitely takes you back to your fav street food joint in Mumbai. The mango, sweet and salty lassi were all very tasty. The service is very good, lots of hand sanitizer around for guests to use, everybody had masks on and ample outdoor seating. Cons : the bombay panini was a disappoinment honestly. I wish they'd use regular sandwich bread instead of the doughy thick one, and ditch that horrible beetroot. The samosa chaat had more cholay than samosa, and tasted just okay. The chicken kathi roll had more fillers than chicken so not going for that item again, although the paratha itself was good. All in all, a nice option to have in Ashburn, and I'll definitely be back for the vada pav and dahi puri read more

This place is a pleasant surprise given the standard of food in most Indian restaurants around the place. The food has been consistently good and some items are really unique. I have only tried take out from here and so far there has not been a disappointment at all. There was this one time when the food was cold, but all I had to do was call the restaurant and they took the criticism in great stride. Ever since, I have not had a bad experience and I frequent this place at least ones a week. Their variety of meat and chat items is very appetizing. Items that I tried and recommend 1. Chicken pulao - very delicious and the quantity is just right for a carb craving day. 2. Chicken Bhunna masala 3. Chicken shawarma burger - I got hooked onto this the first time I had it. 4. PRICEY!! PRICEY!! PRICEY!! First off I was charged 1.99$ for an onion salad which the lady on the counter was greedy to slide in the order, I ordered paneer curry and tava chicken special (special my a**) it was only to see that the chicken was mixed with a deep roasted masala(had a bad bitter after taste). Cheap chicken quality the first thing to improve if the restaurant is looking for suggestions. Coming to the rumali roti(which has drawn us to this place) there are quite a few things wrong with it, first off it's not maida like how it's traditionally made, second it's is drenched in butter seriously rumali roti with butter ? Also it was not freshly made I felt like they just threw us some frozen heated rotis. With two orders of curries which was well over 35$ they just gave 2 spoons of rice like a Thai place would give more rice and the rice was grainy the chef here doesn't know to cook rice also. Greedy in every sense. Last but not the least the price we ended up paying 50$ for couple of curries and couple of rumali rotis. Never ever going back. They will soon be out of business. These people for some reason think they are fine dining restaurant. Infact this is more of a Togo place with cheap tactics. Now the good part we had to order a naan and it was damn good. I've never had Mumbai cuisine, and wasn't sure what to expect. This place blew my expectations out of the water! We wanted to try out some Mumbai street food, so we ordered the Tava Pav Bhaji and the Chicken Hoagie Roll. The veggie gravy in the Pav Bhaji was delicious, and the bread was great too. The chicken hoagie roll was a twist on the classic hoagie roll but with Indian flavors. At the price point (~$9) for each item, I was surprised at how large the portions were. I was visiting Virginia for 4 days and I had the pleasure of trying out the food at Tava Fry. It is a fairly new restaurant serving authentic Indian street food from Mumbai city. I tried the kolivada shrimp and their katakat masala. Both dishes bang on and super delicious. Their tandoori naan is awesome, served fresh and hot and the rumali roti is out of this world. This restaurant is a must try. It was so good I stopped by the next day to try their gourmet pizza and now I know the reason why people rave so much about it. It is super super good. Real Indian style made with Amul cheese. High five to the chef and the awesome staff. Can't wait to visit you all on my next visit to Virginia. read more

My sister introduced me to this place and I really enjoyed it! We got the tava pau Baji, sev puri, dahi puri and samosa chaat. The pau baji was really good and it went really well with the bread they give on the side. The sev and dahi puri was fresh, crunch and had the perfect combination of sweet and sour. The samosa chaat was just ok. They also served burgers and pizzas but we didn't get to try those items this time. The service was also really friendly and fast. The only reason why I didn't give this 5/5 was because in the bathroom their flush system wasn't working which was annoying. Their prices are also a bit steep so that's something to keep in mind. This is a review of a delivery order from Tava Fry. I ordered dahi puri and pav bhaji. The restaurant aims to recreate Mumbai street food, and these are two typical chat items that they've got to do right. I was expecting quite a lot given the pictures on the website which seemed very authentic. I'll start with the limited positives: a) The restaurant was very adjusting to our individual request. They accommodated my allergies and also suggested that we add extra pav to our order since we would run out of pav if we didn't. They did not add utensils and plates to the order as we had requested. b) The packaging of the chat and pav bhaji was top notch. c) The pav was really good! Haven't had such good pav anywhere else in the US. However, the rest of the food was extremely subpar. a) The dahi puri had no spice at all and in fact the yoghurt was sweet. The green chutney which was slightly spicy was too less in quantity to save the dish. They forgot to package the sev, so no crunch. The puris were not thin and crispy. The potato and chickpea mixture was boiled without salt. Overall, no crunch, no spice, no salt. b) The pav bhaji had a curry feel to it. We felt that if they added paneer or chicken to it, it could pass for an onion-tomato based curry. This is funny since on their website they say 'Real Indian Food goes far past Curry and Samosas! Let us show you.' The pav bhaji was missing vegetables like peas which are necessary for a pav bhaji. The masala was really not pav bhaji masala. There was spice in the pav bhaji, but spice without taste is worse. The after-effect on my stomach were not compensated for with a delicious dinner. Further, the pav bhaji did not come with lime and chopped onion. These garnishes are crucial for pav bhaji. We had to cut our own onion and lime. For a restaurant that claims to create authentic street food this was a severe disappointment. Pretty much every other typical Indian restaurant I have been to can make better pav bhaji and chaat. Hell, I can make better pav bhaji and chaat, and that isn't saying much. read more

1. When I walked in, some staff were wearing masks and others were not. I walked in wearing a mask and I saw staff put theirs on when they saw me. They also allowed customers to walk in w/out a mask. 2. The food quality is ok. I like the concept but the Chicken Dhuma and the Lamb Dhuma were rubbery - like it was fake meat. The most important thing to me is (Halal)food and this is the first Indian Restaurant provides Halal (poultry and meat). I tried their Chicken Chapli Kabob burger and Lamp Kaati Roll both delicious. Mango Lassi was not to sweet or salty just perfect! Chicken Pullo was good to needs more attention (Taste wise)Food quality was excellent and potions were perfect.
