We came to Ceviche 517 Restaurant & Lounge as a group of five, hoping to find good food, great music, and some fun new cocktails--and this place absolutely delivered on most fronts! A quick heads-up: on Google Maps it's listed as Ceviche 517, but the sign on the building says Tavern 517, which initially threw us off. We were circling around until we decided to just trust the physical address--and we're so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, the name didn't even matter anymore. The decor is stunning--definitely has an upscale, Instagram-worthy vibe with a modern lounge feel. We might've come a little early because the place was quiet when we arrived, but that worked in our favor as we got to settle in comfortably and explore the menu. Drinks were a mixed experience. We tried the margarita flight, which included coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry. The coconut and passion fruit margaritas were absolutely delicious--fresh, balanced, and memorable. The strawberry, however, was a big miss--tasted like kid's medicine and no one at the table could finish it. We also ordered a drink called something like Chicola--it had ginger ale, lime juice, and some type of liquor, and unfortunately, it was another one we couldn't get through. The flavors just didn't mix well, and everyone at the table agreed it was a no for us. On the flip side, the Perfect Mule with a strawberry twist, the Henny Mojito, and a bold and fun drink called No Sheets were much better received. Menus are displayed on sleek tablets, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the in-house menu offered way more options than what's listed online. And the food? Absolutely excellent. The Tallarín Saltado with vegetables was beyond delicious--we placed it in the center so everyone could dig in. The ceviche flight was fresh and flavorful, and the jalea (a fried seafood platter) didn't last long on the table either. One friend had the larger ceviche bowl paired with a mojito and already asked to come back just for that combo. Even the kid's arroz chaufa with chicken impressed us, with a big enough portion for leftovers. If there's one thing that fell flat, it was the atmosphere--at least early in the evening. When we arrived, the music playing sounded like retro video game tunes, but thankfully it transitioned into upbeat Spanish hits, including some great bachata that gave the space some energy. All in all, despite a few drink misses and a quiet start, this spot is a gem. The food alone is worth the trip, and we're definitely planning to return--next time a little later in the evening to hopefully catch a livelier vibe! read more

I have no disclaimers here - just went to go for drinks and some food on a late night. They have a live DJ on the weekends (that I know of) they have a full bar with the TVs playing the sports and a pseudo-outdoor vibe with the indoor looking dark and intimate. First and foremost, the food was great - my wife had the wings and she enjoyed all of them. I think it was 10 wings in an order and these drums and flats were each a good size. My brother in law had their signature ceviche and he loved loved loved it. I had the empanadas and they were hot, baked, and the flavors were great. The beef empanadas in particular were like a sweet Korean BBQ. The drinks - so the margarita flight was like juice - it will sneak up on you! The Negroni was very smoky yet refreshing. The Cadillac margarita is at its best when used with Don Julio reposado. Still good standard though (Patron). Oh and the old fashioned was also great. Plus - had this blue drink bulldog with Hennessy - it was like punch. So what are my cons about this place? They don't open on Mondays and their kitchen closes at about 11pm. What a wonderful gem we stumbled across. There's parling right before the venue, so be aware. Came in on a Friday night to meet a friend. We met at the bar and just sat there for appetizers and drinks. Our bartender was Top notch, 6 gentleman. We both got margarita flights, and he made sure the drinks were fresh and delicious. This new spot has done it right! I came here to for a holiday gathering and was confused as to where this spot is. The parking lot is sort of tiny and right in front of a building that housed several businesses. Don't worry though. Park it and go up the steps... Once you walk through the first set of doors you have your outdoor enclosed seating. Plenty of it and it's warm and inviting. Then you go into the next set of doors which leads you to a colorful bar/restaurant area. The ambiance says come in and enjoy your time! Vibrant restaurant seating, the bar is full of life, and the high table-tops has several TV's for your sporting events. They have this tequila flight (3 drinks) that was SUPER delicious! The food SUPER delicious, especially their steak/shrimp and fried potato platter. I couldn't get enough from this place. I went on a weekday mid-afternoon so the place was practically empty. However, we were greeted graciously by Fernando. As a first time customer, Fernando told me about their Happy Hour (3-6) and special events they have each week. We shared nachos with chicken first. Very tasty and the Verde sauce was terrific. The chicken wings we ordered were BBQ. The sauce was smoky and sweet. The cheeseburger I had was large and on a toasted bun. Very juicy, but not dripping down your arm greasy. This came with (sweet potato or) French fries, which were cooked to perfect crispness and salted appropriately. For beverages we had the white sangria and the Tasty Berry (rum and raspberry) shot. Brand new spot ( opened 1 month ago) but already rockin' it. Tasty cocktails, nice Happy Hour specials and really tasty food. The Grilled Pichana with Fried Yucca was a great starter. $20 sounds pricey but it's big enough for 2 or could even be an entree. Perfectly grilled steak with sautéed onions and a ridiculously good amount of garlic, you could smell it coming! Burgers are huge and the Pork Chop in Mushroom sauce was really good. Carolina, presumably the owner, was a presence in the dining room all night. Checking on the tables, making sure all was well. There were a few minor slip ups associated with a new restaurant but certainly nothing that was a deal breaker. I got together with a friend of mine to get drinks at this spot. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and got the Miami feel. I loved the decor of the place. We sat at the bar and Dee was our bartender. I seen they had happy hour and she told me it didn't apply on Saturdays anymore like advertised. She said when the manager Fernando comes she will see if her will honor it. While we waited I got the espresso martini and it was very tasty. When he did arrive he came over to us so pleasantly and introduced himself and said he would honor the happy hour prices which was very nice. We happened to be in the area and decided to stop here for a chill night out. The place is stunning and has tons of instagram worthy backdrops such as their Good Vibes Only neon sign and swings. Our server was very sweet and attentive and led us to a dimly lit, comfy booth. The menu isn't very large so we went with our bar food favorites. My husband had the Brutus burger with fries which he loved. I had the steak tacos which I give a 6/10 (decent portion, but the steak lacked flavor). We ordered the margarita flights and were pretty surprised at how strong they were. We ended our meal with a decadent slice of chocolate mousse cake which I regret saying we should split. I came here for the first time with my siblings on a Wednesday evening and we had such a great time! They greeted us at the door and we ended up sitting at the bar right away... Our bartender Marco was super personable and made us delicious drinks, he even smoked our old fashioned which gave it that extra flavor. The food was smaller portions than my liking but delightful none the less. Miriam was also a great part of our night as she was super charismatic and such a lovely bartender, making us great drinks and giving us great suggestions for fun places to try. Me and my best friend has decided to chill out somewhere close to our home so we said let's try this spot. We were surprised that there was no-one else except us but we have decided to stay. They have charged us $35 for the hookah and EXTRA $15 for changing the charcoals so $50 for that it's fucking ridiculous... our bill was $176 for 3 appetisers, 5 margaritas and hookah...we are in GARFIELD not MANHATTAN!!! The ambience inside is good and the bartender was ok, but we had to move outside because of the hookah and the little girl the "server" has never bring our plates and silverware from inside and our food got cold and tasteless(because she was too busy with her boyfriend and maybe under some influence because she was like lost). Also, her attitude was awful, she was treating us like we are her best friends and stayed to our table the most of the night....talking disgusting things to us that I am really ashamed to mentioned here, but be careful and don't let your husband or boyfriend go alone there... The owner definitely should rethink who is hiring because people like this are ruining the reputation of the place, and to reconsider the prices because the place is not in Manhattan! Made reservations for 8 pm and we were seated within 5 minutes however we placed our order shortly after and our food did not arrive until 9:45pm! We didn't even get water until almost an hour in. The drinks came right before the water and they were subpar at best. Food was extremely bland and tasteless and they even forgot to bring out the second side for my order. We found this little gem as we were out on a Friday night unable to get into many restaurants without a reservation. So we found this restaurant on yelp and called and they said there was no wait and that we could come. It is like a lounge type small restaurant and it was very loud. It was very good and well presented. Only gripe was the sauce was soupy and way too much pineapple. The waitress thought they were potatoes lol. I saw other photos and didn't see it like that. The only thing that was annoying was that I asked for a water with lemon and the lady came back with lemonade which I left complaining alone. She didn't seem to speak English that well and prob misinterpreted what I said plus it was very loud. I liked this place before I was extremely disappointed tonight i came with my friends and family, they said they weren't serving food which was not a big deal we were just going to have drinks...We spent approximately 550 including the tip and not even a free water for us racking up just a drink bill...before they would give you a water down drink but made the crowd feel good as if they were welcomed. I wasn't there for the free anything but i did advertise the place so my family and friends would check out the place ....who ever managed the place before was headed in the right direction...again nothing expensive we were the only customers on Thursday night why not a free water....nothing!
