They are known for their homemade Stromboli. We ordered the small Greek Stromboli and one with pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers. Both came with a dipping tomato sauce, which seemed homemade. The Greek one was good but the pepperoni one was better. The Stromboli exterior was excellent, perfectly baked, not too bready!! So good! The service was efficient and attentive and the ambiance was lively, seemed to be a lot of regulars. The price was very affordable - $9-14 for a small Stromboli depending on toppings. The small was plenty for one person. We took home leftovers!

When they arrived, the dough on both was dry, dense, and flat and seemed as though it had not risen properly. We ate one piece or less of each, told our waitress the food was not good, and asked her to take it away. What ultimately sealed the deal was how the issue was handled. Rather than removing food we did not eat from the bill, the manager offered a gift card for a future visit. We declined because we did not intend to return, yet we were still charged full price for both items. After a 1.5+ hour wait caused by a lost ticket, followed by food that was barely touched and immediately sent back because of the quality, charging full price was disappointing. The appropriate response is simply to make it right for the customer. We paid and still tipped but given their handling of the situation felt compelled to leave the review. Sad to say won't return after being long time customers.

Love this place! Everything you want in a local neighborhood bar. Best pizza in town, incredible wings that are smoked to give them a totally unique flavor and excellent subs. Even has a salad for my wife! The staff really cares about their guests and goes out of their way to make sure you're more than taken care of. I'm a frequent visitor, but the Tavern goes out of their way to make everyone feel like a regular. Do yourself and bring the family in for great pizza, wings, beverages and service. We shared a salad and pizza. The salad was Italian style with the dressing on the side. We liked that since our salad was not drowning in dressing. The pizzas are small or large and basic. A variety of additional toppings are available. We added black olives, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. We enjoyed the crispy veggies on the pizza, definitely fresh ingredients. But this time, it was overloaded with topping and covered in huge slices of raw onions. It just wasn't the same as we remembered. But I think the most disappointing thing is that the pizza crust changed. The crust wasn't thin and crispy, JT's staple. It was actually fluffy... Is this a typical case of profit over quality? The more you expand the worse your business gets? Or maybe just new people needing refined? TBD I guess.
