I have been here a few times and am shocked by the poor reviews. I have found the staff to be attentive, and friendly and we were lucky enough to have Bijou wait on us and she was amazing, and the food to be good. Perhaps people are upset with the vail prices or the delay during a busy time. Look it's not the best food I've eaten but it's definitely on the right side of good. The truffle fries are a must have, as they always should be! The street taco was more chili cheese dip but it was very good and with coleslaw and one in a tortilla it's fantastic. It isnt cheap but it's vail so if you expected different you didn't do your homework. read more

We dined here while staying at the Arrabelle Hotel during our recent Vail visit. This restaurant is attached to the hotel and its outdoor seating has beautiful views of the slopes. Service was lacking big time. Food came very late and it was very difficult to get our server's attention. Waters were seldom refilled. In one word- Service was disappointing ! Coming to the food : We got Chicken Wings which were very different but not in a good way. I would rate them 7/10. Assorted dumplings did not have any dumplings. It had bunch of shallow fried shrimps, gyoza and chicken sate kind of appetizer . Very misleading menu item. Ordered quesadilla for my kid and it was not good. My wife ordered a Mezcal drink which was watered down a lot. The only saving grace were the desserts which I must say were truly mind blowing. The Toasted Pineapple Gelato was one of the best I've ever had ! (a big reason I am upgrading my review to 3 stars from 2 stars) and the chocolate bomb was amazing too. Great patio that's dog friendly. Good variety with American food, Asian dishes, variety of soups and good drinks. The truffle fries were delicious and a great dim sum appetizer. We came here to meet up with family who were in town at the same time and overall it was an enjoyable experience l. We sat outside taking in the pretty Mountain scenery and the umbrellas offered plenty of shade against the crazy heatwave! They were having some tiki day with specials on frozen cocktails and a take on poke bowls with shrimp which was a great deal but our server had to be asked several times as he Juat presented the standard menu and claims to have forgotten about this promo!! That said service was good and friendly! We had the standard poke bowl which was excellent - also huge as three of us shared it with some left over! The patio is lovely and the yellow umbrellas add wonderful charm. The view of Vail Mountain from Lionshead is gorgeous. I'm surprised at the reviews, because the Bahn mi and burger were both delicious, with excellent texture and good portions. The crispy pork bahn mi was perfect, crispy, chewy, sweet and spicy. The fries were crispy and delish. Burger was nice and juicy on a brioche bun. Good pours on the wine. Zero complaints, only praise. The first thing to note is that they start serving lunch at 11:30 am and the tables are not open until then so please keep that in mind if you get there a little earlier as you will need to sit at the bar. We tried to get a table and were understandably denied but I felt bad because it seemed like a lot of folks were told the same thing and did not listen. Please make the lives of staff easier by just abiding by the rules... My partner and I came here for lunch and drinks in between skiing and were happy with the food and service. He ordered some sort of boozy coffee beverage which had some really great whipped cream on it and I got a cold ginger cucumber beverage. Both were great. The food was also wonderful. We decided to split a grilled cheese w/ tomato soup and the vodka bucatini. While the pasta wasn't my favorite (it tasted more like regular spaghetti than a true vodka sauce), I absolutely loved the grilled cheese. And while it wasn't anything fancy, it was just plain good and really hit the spot on a cold snowy day. I really enjoyed my meal at Tavern on the square. Although the menu was not extensive, we each found something we liked. I tried the Pappardelle with a meatball and red sauce and my boyfriend had the bison chili and chicken pot pie. I loved the flavor of the pasta and the meatball was tender and delicious. His pot pie was also prepared very nicely and he mentioned how it brought back nostalgic memories of his grandmother. Overall, we had a great experience. And we will be back again. read more

We knew this place would be over priced, but I was shocked on how bad the food was. Probably the worest chili I have ever had, a watery mess with almost no meat. My daughters shrimp cocktail had a rotten shrimp in it, so gross. The avocado in the cobb salad had unripe avocado. And my son didn't like his fish and chips. Found came out one at time, the last entree was 10 minutes late, and had to ask for it. If you eat here, do yourself a favor an order really basic stuff, like a hamburger. Ambiance was nice and great location near the lifts at Lionhead. Unfortunately food was very pricey and not very good. My dining partner got fish and chips and was offered kale salad instead of chips. He got mostly shredded Brussels sprouts which was not good. Kudos to the server for offering complimentary chips (fries) since the salad was such a disappointment. The fish was quite good, but the pieces were small. I had the Mahi banh mi. The nori fries were very good (basically just fries dusted with seaweed) and the mahi was cooked well, but it was very minimally seasoned and on a huge bun which totally overwhelmed the sandwich. Loved it for lunch and breakfast!!! We got off the mountain at 2 pm for the AFC playoff game and grabbed a seat at the bar for lunch and the game. Exceptional service & delicious food! I had the burger and it was exceptional (so were the fries). Fast and friendly. I had brunch there on Sunday morning. It's not a huge selection, but had everything I needed. Enjoyed the omelet station (and Chef also makes fresh waffles). Service was great and can't beat looking out the windows at the mountain. I believe it is $42 if you aren't staying there. I feel bad leaving this review because the service was great and the food tasted good aswell, but all of us who ate the Mahi Mahi got immediate burning and itching sensations in our mouths. There are a couple parts to this review, so read on if you want more detail. We stopped in for lunch and ordered the nachos as an appetizer. The cheese tasted like canned cheese and the brisket was fairly tough and had texture like it had been reheated a few times and then thrown on the nachos. My burger was good but they forgot the Russian dressing and our waiter had so many tables we didn't hear from him for 20+ minutes after the food was delivered. The fries came out undercooked and full of oil (likely the fryer temp was too low). My wife got the Mezz platter which her and one of my daughter's enjoyed. My wife and I came back exclusively for drinks and I'd rank the drinks 4 stars. The mixed drinks were good and the local beer selection also good. read more

Came here for Brunch when we were in town. Got sat pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon, then again it was off season. I ordered the veggie eggs benedict with hash potatoes and a mimosa. Service was pretty quick with ordering and receiving the food. I thought the eggs benedict was done very well. The eggs were cooked perfectly, still runny. You could tell the hollandaise was made fresh. The veggies were sauteed in what looked like a pesto sauce and were delicious. The potatoes were crunchy and soft. My boyfriend got eggs sunny side up with sausage , and potatoes. He loved it as well. I was really pleased with the food, and would come back here to try more items on the menu! read more

THEY SERVED ME RAW BURGERS TWICE. Ordered medium well burger and it honestly looked raw. The waitress was super nice about it but didn't nit seem surprised at all. Not her fault of course... she offered to have it cooked further and i was pretty happy about that, u til the second burger came back and was even less cooked. This is 100% a health hazard. My family and I had dinner when we first arrived in town at this establishment. We ordered the bison burger, baby back ribs, Caesar salad and tomato bisque soup. All were decent and came out relatively quickly. My only complaint was the server Dani that handled our table. I asked her about the nachos and showed her 2 pics we saw on Yelp, of which she replied "she hates looking at the pics as they are never a good representation of the meal". I joked and asked if I could take her picture, and she immediately relied "Absolutely not, and if you do I will take your phone and smash it on the ground!" A little aggressive, I thought but ok. After asking her about 3 different dishes, she replied that they are completely too diverse to compare, walked away and said she'll get our drinks. She didn't arrive back to our table to get our order for at least 15-20 minutes. After the food was served, she never came over to see how everything was tasting nor asked if she could get us additional drinks. Furthermore, our table was outside and closest to the restaurant , therefore we had the pleasure of her walking past our table several times just to watch her check on every single table, multiple times, without ever stopping at our's to check-in. It was obvious she was put off by something we said, but regardless, when spending $180, I think the patrons deserve something more. If there were many other restaurants to choose from, this place wouldn't be a top pick. However, it's the most convenient place to eat, spacious, and has a great menu. Plus, the view isn't bad, and it's right next to the kids ski school and ski valet. Their breakfast buffets are pretty awesome as well, including an excellent omelet and (amazingly fluffy!) waffle station. Their entrees are plentiful. My faves are the chili and poke bowl--plenty of tuna and other goodies. The reason I don't give 5 stars is solely because of service. It's really, really slow a lot of times. I'd ask for a beverage and 50% I wouldn't even get it. The other 50% would take quite a while. read more

This restaurant is located right by the bottom of the mountain, making it easy for anyone that wants to stop for a drink and grab food. I felt that the menu was a little limiting and priced pretty high. The group that we were with ordered the nachos and the fries, which I would say the nachos were a decent portion considering it's $27. It's a nice area to sit outside and enjoy the weather and watch the skiers. I don't ski, but it was a good spot to meet my husband when he was done skiing for the day. Tavern on the Square is located inside Vail's Arrabelle Hotel in Lionshead and it's seen several iterations. Vail used to lease out the space, but if I were to guess, I'd say that they're running it themselves now and treating it like one of their on-mountain eateries, which narrows the selections and raises the prices. My wife and I stopped in for a couple of salads and if you've never had a $25 Cobb Salad...don't start with this one. I didn't notice that there was no chicken in the description of the salad, but there wasn't, which is, in itself, unusual. Avocado WAS mentioned in the description, but it did not appear in our salads. There were field greens in the center, which I like, but Cobbs are usually made with Romaine. There was a ton of bacon that was definitely not crispy, as it should have been and ripped into rather large slices. A sliced, hard boiled egg, a mound of bleu cheese and sliced cherry tomatoes rounded out the plate. It was fairly unappetizing, but we took the bacon home for our dog. My wife ordered apple pie for dessert, but it turned out to be an oversized version of the McDonald's apple things, only it was hot and it wasn't good. Maybe it's the pandemic, maybe it's supply chain shortages and maybe it's the tight labor market in Vail, but this was not a good thing, nor was it $63 well spent. read more

The performer was great and made the atmosphere! The server had to be asked for napkins and utensils as the fondue cooled, but was right there for the bill. The barely lukewarm $25 "hot" chocolate would not be great at half the price. Skip it. The fondue was gritty and bitter and, the accompaniments were cooled by the time napkins and utensils showed up.
