Was hoping for a nice dinner in the Tavern in the Arrabelle at Vail Square. it's more of a sports bar with sports bar menu. Service is poor...noise level extremely high. The good...the Cobb salad is fresh tasty and delicious as are the assorted cheeses, the bread served with the cheese was extremely tough as if it was heated in the microwave. The fresh artisan bread and butter is delicious. quite a contrast. Try not to order the lobster and Mac.. we couldn't find the lobster which was a pity. Likewise I couldn't recommend the pork chop ...texture was like leather although the greens and puree with it were very tasty. The steak was a hit...tender and delicious and worth the money. Tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwich were ok too. Shared the pavlova which had lovely well balanced flavors. Overall a disappointing dinner in Vail. read more

Guys. Just because this place has 3 stars on yelp doesn't mean it's not worth a visit. Or maybe they just step up their game once ski season hits. I remember coming here last year and having a great meal, so I came back again and saw they had the same menu, so of course I had to get the same thing - the poke bowl with salmon. It's not your traditional poke with raw fish (the salmon, at least, was grilled). But it's still great food - sticky rice, squid salad, seaweed salad, kimchi, pickled ginger, cuckes...all amazing stuff and pretty healthy. Got the lobster mac and cheese as an app to share. Amazing dish - super creamy and not overly cheesy, with decent sized lobster pieces. Others in my party got the pork osso bucco, public burger, and korean noodles. Overall consensus was positive. It will be more expensive than if you ordered the same dishes not on a mountain ski resort, obviously. Service was great - friendly servers. Best food in Vail after a week long stay. Started off with the wedge salad. Look at the picture, I'll wait. Yeah, that's giant pieces of bacon with that salad. It was a great start to the meal, chunks of lettuce with dabs of blue cheese, tomatoes and the aforementioned bacon. Daughter has the salmon and said it was perfectly crisp on the outside and very well seasoned. Orzo risotto that accompanied the salmon was lemony and filling. The greens on top were more decoration than appetizing. Menu description didn't match the food but it was still delicious. The Pad Thai was delicious but the serving is huge. Thankfully my wife and I split the meal and we were able to polish most of it off with an assist from our daughter. The soft shell crab was a nice addition and the shrimp was very tasty. Had the right amount of kick, not too much but enough to let you know it's there. Son had the pizza and enjoyed it thoroughly. Only slight complaint was the service was a bit lacking and slow but nothing that would prevent me from coming back. Very nice and friendly, just a bit distracted. Oh yeah, and we did get a variety of menus between the four of us, which seems to happen quite often in Vail at various restaurants. Again, nothing to keep me away but sometimes confusing. read more

The food was delicious and the service even better! We overlooked a sauce on the menu that was included with the burger and wow! When mentioned to our waitress, Victoria, she jumped into action. Within seconds, the Manager, Natalie, was out o our table to make sure lol was ok because we mentioned one of our children had a dairy allergy. They quickly replaced the burger. On the plus side, great patio for Jazz Fest. Food was average to good. French onion soup had little flavor. Mozzarella salad was very good. Other small plates included edamame and humus were ok. Full bar with good local beer on tap. Wine list is ok. We had Van Duzer Pinot for $95 that drank like a $11 grocery store bottle. In menu it was represented as '07 and they brought us '11. I noticed and server said that is all they had. Very average service. When we arrived restaurant was wide open and greeter insisted we wait five minutes to seat although several tables already sat. Probably waiting to see if anyone better showed up I guess. That was odd. Went back later in day due to proximity of Jazz stage and a little better experience. I had seen one go by a few minutes earlier, stacked with brisket. nachos were not good...and expensive. the other dishes were lacking and over priced. If you're staying at the Arrabelle, they should include breakfast with your room and this is where you will eat every morning. Their breakfast buffet is on par with the best offerings in the world. The omelette station is efficient and also serves made to order waffles. This is the way to start your day in Vail. We also tried it for dinner, very good service, sat on the patio so we could watch the kids play outside. The convenience is priceless. The food is above average for hotel restaurant dinner and a bit pricey. read more

While the food here is pretty great - lord do you need help with your wait staff. We came in during the fall on a Saturday so it was relatively busy. We decided to sit at the bar and trust me I get the bar doesn't get THE best service but cmon. First our bartender wasn't really engaged. He seemed to be spacing off and thinking about something else. We were pretty close to the wait station and you could hear them complaining about customers and the cold. I hate when people do that like why would you complain so loudly that other customers can here. Poor logistics in placing the wait station AT THE FRONT OF THE RESTAURANT. It's pretty gross to see wait staff put dirty and clean glasses by each other. Cmon get your stuff together. I get it's the summer low season but your grumpy, short staff isn't my problem. Sorry! It takes quite some time to get your food plus the high prices - yikes Onto the food which was the saving grace. The Cobb salad was to die for though! The bacon was some of the best I've ever had on a salad. The we were recommended the chicken pot pie which was ridiculous salty and if the bison burger was on the menu I would've gotten it. Overall it has a great view and location. Damn shame they're a hot mess during the summer. I'll come back in the winter to give it another try and pray they have their shit together. Ordered the artichokes, the wings, and the truffle fries. The artichokes were good, not great but good. The wings were really good. The marinade left a fabulous taste in the meat of the wing. Great spot to stop for a quick lunch in the mood your ski day or a drink and appetizers at the end of the day. It's right off the Gondola in Lionshead. The place has two bars, a dining room and a great patio with a fireplace. I had their beef chili, which they only have bowls and it was way too much for me, but for any hunger guy, it was a perfect size. Also the rest of the table had the bison burger and chopped salads. Came here. Stood at the front waiting for someone to seat me and my family. Waited a few minutes and was completely ignored while 2 girls were talking cleaning a table. Finally had to ask them if we could be seated. They said no. You have to wait 10 minutes. I walked into the bar and ordered a beer from Steve. He was awesome. 2 o clock hit. Got seated. Now it's been 15 in and no one has even came to the table to ask if we wanted water. I think the staff here is amazing and fun to interact with! I enjoyed all my food and drink during my 3 day stay at the adjacent Arabelle Hotel in Vail. The chicken pot pie is comfort food to die for, and the tomato soup and grilled cheese was an amazing guilty indulgence. Prices aren't cheap, but I've seen much worse in and around Vail, with half the atmosphere and not nearly as great a group of people. I will be back again next time I'm in Vail for sure! read more

Food was outstanding, service was prompt and atmosphere was an elegant sports bar feel. My GF and I each had 2 glasses of wine and each a bowl of soup and the bill was $92 ish. A great place but just not affordable for most folks. We had come down the mountain from a very cold hike where we got caught in a snowstorm. The Tavern was the first warm place we found to take shelter in, and we were certainly well under-dressed when we got in there. Luckily we found 2 chairs at the bar just inside the door. Stopped in for drinks and appetizers here with my husband. We were greeted by all the staff upon walking through the door. After sitting down at the bar, the bartender was prompt, friendly and very helpful when it came to our drink decisions. We ordered shrimp and grits and one of the flatbreads. Both were absolutely delicious!! We ordered a variety of the specialty House cocktails and each one was perfection. The atmosphere of this bar/grill is a little more on the upscale side. This place is our favorite lunch spot after a day of skiing. Everything I've had on the menu has been fantastic, except for the Ravioli. An email I sent to management. I'd like to bring to your attention the experience my family and I had at your Tavern restaurant around 10:30 this morning. My family and I dropped in for some breakfast and we're shocked at what we saw/experienced. The first issues we came across were associated with the buffet. The buffet was out of eggs, fruit, waffles, biscuits, nearly out of juice, nearly out of potatoes, and out of plates, glasses, and the women's bathroom didn't have any soap. The bacon was so undercooked that it wasn't even edible. We were told that they'd put out two bowls of fruit and that was all that was left in the kitchen, which seems highly unlikely and frankly, unacceptable for a breakfast buffet. There were several of us in the buffet area speaking with the woman whom I thought was the hostess, letting her know that the buffet was nearly out of everything. She presented a poor attitude and excuses to each one of us that complained about there being little left to eat short of sweets. Likely because she was busy having a long conversation (over 30 mins)with what was clearly her friend lounging around the hostess stand, rather than doing her job. After finally getting the eggs refilled, I sat down to eat. I immediately noticed that there were two hairs in my eggs. At that point my family and I decided we were done attempting to dine at your restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. I was shocked when the same woman from the hostess stand walked up. I talked her through my concerns and her response was that the restaurant had several parties and we're too busy to deal with the breakfast buffet and also gave excuses as to why they were out of food, no apology, no offer to remove items from our bill. When I explained that those issues are her problem, not mine as the customer, she further gave us attitude and didn't even apologize for having multiple hair in the eggs being served. I let her know that we were done eating and she needed to remove the buffet from our bill. Her response was "fine, and I'll have your table cleared immediately," which was very clearly stated as a threat. She then sent staff over who appeared to be mortified and took out plates. The staff was great, and the waiter even dropped by to apologize for her actions (which is why I left a tip. It's amazing that the staff's level of professionalism vastly exceeded that of the woman that is suppose to be managing the restaurant. As I'm sure you can understand, my family and I won't be back (we're CO natives and in the area regularly) and we will be passing the word of this experience along. I would like to make sure that these concerns are passed along to the executive level given the scope of her actions. Hopefully this serves to provide some useful feedback as to how things are being run in your absence. read more
