Both…read moreused scare tactics to try and get us to sign immediately and pay, upfront, close to $10K to solve our tax issue. I had already done a lot of the work myself with the IRS and my gut was just not comfortable with what they were saying to me. I had also done enough research that I knew they were probably overpromising what they could do. So I looked up local top tax firms and found the The Tax Defenders. After speaking with Beth, who answered the phone, she told me Joe would be calling me back (yes, the owner of the firm). And he did. I walked Joe through what I had done to date and what others were telling me they could do and he told me I was correct. He told me I could hire them to handle what remained to be done, but I could also do it myself. I had already done most the work. He walked me through what to do next with the IRS, including what to say. We were on the phone for about an hour. He told me to call him back if I had questions. I was so pleasantly shocked. I waited on hold for 2 hours and 10mins that night for the IRS to answer and when they did I followed Joe's instructions and worked out a solution. If I ever have a tax situation that requires help in the future, my first and only call will be to the Tax Defenders (and for those review doubters out there I am not AI, I am a real person).

The accountants are all very nice and my parents have worked with all of the accountants there. When I came today, I worked with Pasquale, who was so personable and knowledgeable. Normally I do taxes myself, but this was the first time I paid to get them done and I'm not disappointed that I came here. He did them really fast (especially because I had multiple W-2s and a student loan paper), and he informed me why so many people are getting lower tax returns this year (because the nation is taking less taxes out throughout the year and giving you more in your paycheck). He gave me copies of my tax return and told me how much I will get back before I signed anything. He was so nice because he laughed and said, "If you're happy, then I'm happy!" I was very happy with my return. You can pay for the services here by card or check; however, there is a $5 extra fee for using a card. The office itself is very clean and organized, and there is parking on the street. I didn't have to wait at all because literally no one was getting their taxes done here when I came, so that was nice, but the area where they do the taxes and talk to you is upstairs while the waiting room is downstairs, so you feel some kind of privacy here.

I highly recommend Jim and the firm. M&R Ferber offers A-Z tax filing capabilities for individuals, estates, and trusts. Their web site states they provide business and payroll offerings but this review is limited to my personal tax returns. Jim has a great eye for detail and knows tax law. He's not afraid to say "No!" yet he will also recommend approaches that may suit you, ie accelerate deductions, delay revenues, itemize or take the standard deduction, or change with-holdings. He also prepares "what-if" scenarios. I have a complicated return (variable and non-W2 income, out-of-state etc.) yet his fees are fair & reasonable and completion times FAST! He takes the time to understand you, poses thoughtful questions, and explains process and reasoning. The office provides copies of all your returns for your personal record keeping. M&R Ferber provides coffee and cookies. The offices are clean, comfortable, and filled with tax law and accounting books. The shred bin is visible so there is no doubt they properly dispose of un-needed documents. The parking is free and office easy to find. I have had a debt collectors harassing me recently because the statute of limitations is almost up on that debt. It was not included in the list of the debts discharged. But I called and spoke with a lawyer named Dustin at this firm. He said that all debts were discharged with my type of bankruptcy, and this debt was included even if it wasn't listed. phew! And he faxed over the documentation to them. This scam collector called me about a month later (integrated Financial) and said I was going to get a summons (that it would come to work, and that a supervisor would have to sign for it---what a nightmare). I called up David M Siegel and Associates again. The secretary was a little rude, but sent me through to Dustin again. He calmly explained to me that he already faxed the information to them last time, and he would call them again today. He was so helpful and fast. I sincerely appreciate his help. He said that this is harassment, and let him know if they call again. I feel better. I am not sitting at work worrying about it now. Nice work. I am so glad they helped me, and continue to help me.
