I am disappointed with the level of service and communication I experienced. I dropped off our tax documents on March 7 for Richard and did not receive any updates by March 14. After multiple unanswered calls and messages throughout that week, I visited the office in person to inquire about the status. At that time, Marjorie informed me that Richard had just returned from the hospital and had not yet been able to begin working on our taxes. While I understand unforeseen circumstances can arise, I would have appreciated proactive communication and the option to have another preparer assist us. Unfortunately, no such communication or alternative was offered. I chose to proceed and give the benefit of the doubt. By March 29, our taxes were completed, and I visited the office to sign the paperwork and paid for electronic filing. As of April 20, we had still not received our refund. Upon contacting the IRS, I was informed that no return had been filed under my Social Security number. After again being unable to reach anyone by phone, my husband went to the office and was told by Rina that their system is backlogged and that our taxes had not yet been filed. Rina also informed me that their system backlog was an ongoing issue since before I dropped off my taxes on 3/7/26 so I do not understand why nothing was ever communicated to us. This was extremely concerning and frustrating, as we were never notified of any delays or system issues. At no point during my interactions with Lehua (March 7), Marjorie (March 14), or Richard (March 29) was any potential delay or backlog communicated. The lack of transparency and failure to provide timely updates is unacceptable. Although Rina apologized and provided a contact number for Miriam (owners wife) I have been unable to reach hGiven the circumstances, I am requesting a full refund and will be taking our tax filing elsewhere. Clear and timely communication is essential in matters of this importance, and unfortunately, that standard was not met. As a result, I have lost confidence and trust in their services and will not be returning. read more

The staff at JH are awful, untrained, they don't print your paper so you can read before signing, she Shanelle said oh sorry cannot print, you gotta sign first! Dishonest, thieves. I have been stressing about my taxes for months. In between my busy schedule, taking care of my pooch, work, school and getting sick... I looked on yelp then found this place. I didn't have a great experience at H & R last year so wanted to try something new. This is more a ma and pa type business. I called ahead and the guy was able to take me. He answered the phone each time which I though was awesome. It's near Bank of Hawaii across St. Joseph church on farrington in waipahu. Very straightforward and helpful. He definitely was able to get me more of a refund than turbo tax and h&r block. It's more casual than standard tax places. They have tv on, comfy chairs, coffee, and their kids chillin around. I felt comfortable... But I am mentioning it cuz I know some ppl are anal about that.. And the five stars is because I was able to have my jasmine chihuahua with me the whole time and no complaints!!! Really really helpful being a mama of a spoiled little pooch that needs constant attention. Prices are very reasonable. And I was out extremely fast. Overall less than an hour He was a one man operation so expect that he answers calls but still works on your case diligently read more

Richard and his wife are the best! Been coming here for the past 3 years and always got a return even when it did it look so good! They care about you getting the max refund. They always give you copy with out paying. However if you loose it it will cost 30$ for another one. Waiting area is big, they have a tv you can watch and they got ice cold pure water for you. Office is clean, comfortable AC. Everyone is friendly and they try to get you in and out as soon as possible. Parking is crazy if it's busy, they only have two stalls reserved for them but there other places to park like along the side walk or down the road in shopping plaza, not too far of a walk. I found out about this place though my bf aunty "Lehua"...we use to go to H & R Block and taxbusters,which the return was very small and the fees were high... Benn gng to tax r us for the past 3 years. Never fails to give me what I deserve back in return. Always best to make appointment, but during tax season be prepared to wait... And trust me..the wait us worth it if u have to... I recently heard that my sis in law whom is very statisfied with the service also ended up referring her friend... This friend gone to someone else the past years, and she only got 2,000 back... So my sis in law referred her to tax r us, ended up get triple back of what she use to... And guess what???that girl complained about it!!!!!!! C'mon people , so ungrateful !!! But anyways! This is the place to go... Staff is very awesome.... I come here yearly to get my taxes done. I personally like the guy doing my taxes because I feel like he asks all the right questions and also doesn't make me feel like I am getting juked. As for the lady not too sure what her name is, I feel like she isn't really there. Like she would be doing your tax but then yelling at her kid at the same time. If your Filipino, come here lol well even if ur not, give her a try. The lady here really knows her stuff. Her and her husband work together. Out of all the years my mom has been doing her taxes, she finally found someone really great! This year was her second time visiting and it won't be her last. What makes her different among all is that she'll dig deeper making sure she won't forget a single penny. I could tell she really cares that we get all we can by asking us a lot of questions. Filed my taxes on march and it's now August and they have not done anything to help me figure out why my taxes have not been received. I am the only one that follows up, calls back, always reminding weekly about the status and still nothing but I thought it was Their job to do all that. I asked for my money back since I have not gotten my refund , they said no they won't do it because all their job is to file it and not their problem weather or not I get my refund.
