Paula Jo Barrett originally told us it was a software error that led to our 2018 IRS audit. We always felt we were in pretty good hands until this - our first - audit occurred. This is when Paula Jo's lack of empathy became apparent. We found her unresponsive and very unwilling to help. Unfortunately we were lead to believe if any errors ever occurred with the tax returns she did for us that she would be responsible for any interest and/or penalties that might accrue. Not so. We were on our own. Paula Jo not only kept the money paid for preparing our faulty 2018 tax return, she also refused to pay the IRS interest and penalties accrued. Beware: Check your preparer's qualifications: Look for a preparer who is a certified public accountant, an enrolled agent, or even an attorney. I scheduled an appointment with Paula to complete my taxes for the beginning of the year and she was professional from start to finish. Paula actually helped me in figuring out a hiccup within my taxes (one that I would not be able to figure out on my own) and filed my G45 taxes all in one sitting in a reasonable time frame. I literally had no previous knowledge of this establishment and I am very happy that I took the chance to try it out. Paula is a very nice person with a ton of knowledge. I learned some very great things from her while preparing my taxes. It was a little confusing finding her location, but it is on the opposite side of the building that faces the K1 speed track. It was not a time consuming experience at all, I was in and out of the door in about 45min. It's not the typical office that prepares taxes that has a bunch of cubicles. It's just you and Paula. Paula Barrett is not reliable. She asked us to give her our past 5 years of taxes and now doesn't know where she placed it. Luckily one of her clients called us and returned 2 years of our past taxes that PAULA gave to him. But she has NO IDEA who she gave the other 3 years to! She didn't care or show any empathy about losing our PERSONAL INFORMATION. She didn't even offer to call her clients to see if she gave it to them. Basically she said "oh well." Paula the owner had 4 years of my previous tax filings due to income and deductions comparison review. 2 months later I get a call from a complete stranger saying he has 2 yrs of the 4 years with him as she accidentally gave it to him. I go to her office to find out that she doesn't know what she did with the other 2 years and gave away all of my personal information to complete strangers.
