The waitress was very friendly and talked to us a bit made us feel like home. we decided on the muscles. It looked like a great appetizer to split. Oh my gosh, they were delicious. I also tried a few different beers over the course of a few days while in town (yes, I went back to the brewery MULTIPLE times). Stopped in on Sunday and decided that I had to try their Bloody Mary. It was perfectly spiced and I loved the piece of crisp bacon in the drink. I ordered a burger that had Gouda cheese, bacon and onion jam with an aioli sauce. The side was fries. The burger had copious amounts of cheese and the bacon was very crisp, which I had requested, however it was just too messy to eat and I ended up having to use a fork and knife. Brewery # 282 Taxman brewery has a large selection of beers for such a small place. I think there were 24 beers on their draft board specializing primarily on the Belgian side. I got my standard flight with Hop Audit: Bravo (Farmhouse IPA), Bourbon Barrel InvEster (Belgian Strong Ale) Qualified (Belgian Quad) and Cold Progression: Jarrylo (Cold IPA). All them were solid but the Belgian Quad was by far the best one. I kind of wish I would have gotten a Tripel as well but maybe next time. I went on a Sunday and they had a pretty large brunch crowd. There's a large area outside to eat Al Fresco and a bunch of tables inside too. So the place is equal parts restaurant and brewery. I sat at the bar and ordered a tenderloin because it's a must if you re in Indiana. It was a thicker sandwich than I would say is normal for a tenderloin but it was delicious non the less. On our way south we decided to take advantage of the Sunday brunch at Taxman. There is a lot of free parking around the venue which was great for a busy Sunday. The space has outdoor seating as well, but too cold for us. Once you enter there is a hostess stand and lots of varying heights of tables (tall and regular height). The space feels open and airy with the bar going along two sides of the space. Given the fullness we decided to sit at the bar where they provide full service as well. Menu is great with both brunch and lunch options. They had vegan and vegetarian as well as classics plus some great lunch options. It was pretty packed so we expected a wait even when seated, but the staff was quick and prompt which was much appreciated. The bartender got us some drinks quickly and never 'forgot us' when we decided to drink only water. I would love to see an on tap cider (as allergic to something they put in the bottled versions), but they have a lot of options obviously made in house! Our food was amazing and the right flavors and warmth. There were a few mixups with the kitchen staff (a side order turned into an appetizer size, forgotten home fries, a bit of burning in the side) but overall the taste was great and I would go back again. I had their brunch salmon eggs Benedict with asparagus which was quite lovely. My husband's house made veggie Patty was robust and tasty. We devoured both meals and were very happy we had stopped in. This was my first time stopping by Taxman. I don't find myself in Bargersville much, but we were driving through and decided to stop in for lunch. The building has a neat vibe, and they did a great job designing the space. The waiter suggested the fried chicken sandwich, so I went with that and a side of fries. They were out of several menu offerings and beer listings the Saturday we stopped in. There were a ton of flies in the restaurant although the indoor to outdoor seating was closed off. You really had to fight off these pesky flies to keep them off your food. I would describe the food style as elevated bar food. My mom was looking for a place that had wagyu burgers so we landed on Taxman. The menu looked good and when we arrived it was full on a Sunday around 11am so we had high hopes. Taxman has a variety of seating options inside and outside. We chose to sit at the bar. Our server greeted us right away and brought us a few beer samples. They had a large variety of draft beer, wine, and cocktails. They have their house draft beers as well as a large selection of seasonal beers. We got the jerk style chicken wings to start. They were very underwhelming. There was little to no seasoning. They tasted very "plain." We asked for BBQ so we could have something to dip them in. We also got the pork tenderloin. It was okay. We got it with all the toppings on it. Our favorite part was the homemade pickles. They do charge for sides of sauce. We got garlic aoli and BBQ sauce and they were $1 each. Just finished meal here. Arrived 8:45 Saturday evening, and have eaten here many times. Beer was warm:( Brussels sprouts delicious, as usual. But the fries and chicken weren't. Deep fat fryer oil had to have been really dirty. Chicken breading dark, with yucky crusty particles. Fries dark and soggy. Server checked back, but it was a cursory "How's everything?" Amazing beer and good service. I'm only giving it 3 stars because the food is overall not great and a bit overpriced. It pains me to even say that, because I love the hell out of Taxman and what they're doing for Bargersville. I did love the cheese curds and would order them again, but the short rib mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The meat was overcooked and didn't taste good at all, and the cheese sauce didn't have much flavor. My partner had the smash burger, which he thought was okay but nothing spectacular. We've been wanting to try this brewery for years. We were excited to finally give it a try for dinner. We've been big fans of their beer, so wanted to check out where it all originated. Taxman is in Bargersville. Cool little country setting. Relaxing, chill and away from The hustle and bustle! We sat down outside, it had a great seating area outside, as well as inside. We started off with a flight of their house beers. It was great, nice samples and refreshing. Our server was Shannon. She was great, attentive and very helpful on suggestions. We started off with Fried Green Tomatoes. Disappointed. Too much breading, no flavor, and little tomatoes. We also opted for Single Pretzel with Beer cheese. The beer cheese came out with a film, as it seemed it had been setting for awhile. Pretzel was okay. We also had Smash burger, full of flavor and a house salad with chicken. We asked for some additional balsamic dressing, and noticed on our recipe we were charged $1. Seriously? Maybe tell us before you charge us. There was hardly any on the salad, but oh well. First time trying Taxman - heard lots of good things about their food and wanted something new. It kind of fell flat for me. I got the Bargersville Smash burger and it was pretty dry. They did not ask how I wanted it cooked and while I generally do like well done, this was just too dry. The cheese seemed like it seeped into the burger and you could barely taste any of it. Fries had a great flavor and I appreciate that they are homemade! But they were also missing something- maybe some extra zest other than salt. Would try again and get something different but probably won't go out of my way to eat here. read more

I visited this location with my Yelp friend Ken N., and he told me that Taxman was started by an accountant. Now all of the pieces of the puzzle are coming together: accountant ... taxes ... Taxman. The beers are named things like Redemption, Exemption, Assessment. Ah! Now it all makes sense. I love a good theme, and Taxman delivers on the tax theme. They also deliver on the beer. I tried a flight of their seasonal beers, which included Cherry Picker, Tax Holiday, HA Lemondrop and Assessment #2. I really enjoyed all of my beers, but especially the lighter beers. My husband got a flight of the barrel-aged beers and didn't like some of them, so be aware that the beers that have "bourbon" and "barrel" in their names are very strong-tasting, according to him. We also got a basket of fries (frites), which according to the menu are double fried in pork lard, and which come with your choice of two sauces. We chose the garlic aioli and a spicy red sauce that I forgot the name of. They were really good and a great thing to munch on while we sampled our beers. They have outdoor seating here, which is right next to the street, so it can be a little loud, depending on who is driving by. But it was nice to sit outside on a nice day and drink some beers and eat some fries with friends. As one does. read more

So I'm new to Franklin and asked around for some good brunch spots and someone recommended Taxman. I looked up the menu and said let's go. I was slightly heartbroken when I found out they only serve brunch on Sundays but regardless the menu looked tasty. The interior has a cool rustic industrial vibe. Loved it! This time of year (A wintery fall) with all of the windows it can get a little chilly so dress warmer. It's cold out so wanted something warm and comforting to start off and landed on the loaded potato soup. Exactly what I needed! It was packed full of flavor . I highly recommend it. Then went with the Tavern burger. It comes with a Fischer Farms beef patty, pork belly, apple fennel slaw, and a garlic aioli. One of the BEST burgers I've had. It was juicy and had so much flavor! And the fries are delish too. I topped it off with a Balance of Sour which if you love a good sour you need to try it. It's a Flanders Red Ale so it's got a bite but I loved it. I also couldn't leave without trying one of their Deadlines. I got the maple vanilla..... A barrel aged imperial stout. Y'all it was divine!!! And our server Zack (Zach.... I don't know why it took us so long to come here - man, I love this place. Lots of great food options with a rotating seasonal menu and plenty of beer options on draft. Definitely check the menu before you go in -- just because you liked something last time doesn't mean it will be around this time. But that's generally a good thing and pushes you to try something new. Beautiful little spot for a date night, but also seems pretty kid-friendly too. It's fine. Every time we go, we always say some version of, "This dish would be good IF..." IF they hadn't undercooked the squash in my risotto. IF the potatoes had more flavor. IF my grilled cheese wasn't so dry (you'd think it would be hard to make a grilled cheese dry, wouldn't you? lol). So...I don't know. It seems to me like the chef doesn't taste-test his/her food. It's just never quite up to par. There aren't a lot of options around here, so it's a bummer that we can't rely on Taxman to have more consistently GREAT food. First time here and I'm already obsessed with this place. First of all, this beer list is speaking my love language. A ton of different Belgian styles (my absolute favorite) ranging from a single to a quad to an imperial coconut Belgian. I talked with one of the bartenders and she told me the owner lived in Belgium for a while and obviously picked up some tips on how to brew beer and cook food. For those not on the Belgian train, they do offer a few other beers like IPAs, farmhouse ales and golden ales. The atmosphere is awesome. It's modern, industrial, and has a cool theme of fun skeletons everywhere. Servers and bartenders are very nice, helpful, and friendly, and the food is also very good, although if you're not a beer person, I will say the food is more 4 stars, but still tasty. We decided to go to Taxman to celebrate a family birthday and I'm glad we did. It was definitely worth the drive. We found parking easily accessible in their connecting parking lot and we also noticed many available spots of street parking. It was at 5:00 on a week day so I'd guess weekends might have less spots. We were greeted at the door and seated quickly. Our server Bryce was so friendly and very helpful with menu advice. He was very attentive to our table the whole evening. I chose a margarita cocktail that was delicious however several in our group ordered Taxman beers and said they were great. I got the recommended tenderloin and replaced my side of frites with the grilled Brussels sprouts and both were plentiful and delicious. I had enough leftover for lunch the following day. The table shared an appetizer of pretzels and beer cheese. Believe me I have never had better pretzels. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. That is a must have. Do love exploring all of the breweries across the country! Some are simply amazing and unfortunately at least to my craft beer taste buds some are less fortunate. "Fortunate" meaning you taste a beer and you will remember it. At least a week down the road. I do love those experimental or "out there" flavored beers but sometimes you can't beat the classic flavor profile. I do love the classic breadiness or biscuity flavor a beer can offer up to. But more often than not you just don't know what you are in for until you try out a place. Well, moving on to a fairly large brewery for the Indiana area is Taxman Brewing. They have multiple locations throughout this state. Steve and I had two of their beers for our beer experience here. We had a Maple Bourbon aged Quadrupel. A beer style I often don't see and boy was it a strong one! But the maple flavoring I really did like with this beer. The No Sparge Imperial Gold was the next one. A very tasty and another very strong Belgian Golden Ale. This beer had a good, malty taste to it with some sweetness. Not bad. Taxman was a solid beer experience. I rate these beer experiences on Untapped and make notes about what I'm drinking and the flavor. These two Taxman beers I had I rated a "four" which is not subpar or mediocre. Anything past a "four" on Untapped has to be absolutely mind blowing to me. And while I didn't feel that experience here it was by no means a poor craft beer experience. read more

Recently I made a trip to Indy for the Carly Rae Jepson concert. After asking for recommendations, I decided to stop here on the way. I've gone from drinking often 'Gotta try them all' to I want my brews to be quality brews. At first, I hesitated to visit this place because it was 20 minutes off the interstate. This place is worth the small side trip on your way to/from Indy. All of their brews are available in 4 ounce pours as well as larger. It's good when you can try a wide variety of what they throw at you for a cheap price. The IPAs were so-so for me but the other beers were great. The Belgian Quad and the Blood Orange Sour were a couple of favorites. My favorite brew here was Certified. It's a Sour Quad! After trying that, I think that's the future of sours. It was delicious and if I was buying to-go, that would be the drink of choice. One thing to note... they had a beer that didn't work out. It just wasn't good. I heard one of the bartenders talking about it being a bad seller. They had it on sale! You could buy 64 ounces for 10 bucks! I thought that was cool. Most breweries brew terrible beer but they won't admit that it's terrible. More breweries should be honest like this one. I haven't even mentioned the food yet. In checking their menu pictures online, it seems their menu changes every so often. Awesome! Currently, they have sandwiches, plenty of apps, mussels, and a few other things. I only wanted a snack but decided to order a sandwich with fries. Pulled bbq chicken(mild or spicy). Fries(they didn't even need ketchup). Sandwich - It had lettuce and tomato which seemed weird for a pulled chicken bbq sandwich. The sandwich was just okay. I'm not sure if I would order it again. I think I should've gone with the spicy sauce. Fries - These fries don't need ketchup. Don't insult these fries by dipping them... ok, maybe dip one or two to see the difference but you'll see; They just don't need ketchup. I'm definitely trying more of what they have to offer when I'm there again! This place is flying under the radar. It's better than any other brewery I've been to in Indiana. It's even better than most in Kentucky. I'd rank it higher than some of the breweries in Asheville and Nashville too. The beer is that good!
