Just FYI the only reason we needed additional signatures was because of loan requirements from my solar system. The interaction that prompted me to write this review was regarding my property taxes. They were paid through escrow but when I checked the county website it didn't show them as paid. I emailed Tami at 7:00pm asking about it and didn't expect a response until the next day. She replied at 8:30pm to let me now the payment was sent and that it can take weeks to show on the county site. The next morning at 8:45am she sent me supporting documentation to show me the payment was made a few weeks ago. They charged me $5,110 in escrow fees, which is nearly $1,700 more than the industry standard based on my home's sale price. The fee breakdown included junk charges like a "messenger fee" (no messenger used), "audit fee," "1099 fee" (no 1099 applies to my transaction), and an outrageous $250 notary fee plus a $100 travel fee, despite the property and their office being in the same county--and no offer made for me to sign in person. I wasn't allowed to keep copies of the documents I signed. My real estate agents were never given the escrow estimate or fee sheet to review, which seems intentional to avoid scrutiny. Only by taking a photo of the fee breakdown myself were my agents able to get involved--and when they questioned the charges, Golden Coast offered me only a $300 "credit." The buyer's side received a larger refund after objecting, which speaks volumes. This company operates with zero transparency, charges well above market, and refuses to justify its fees. Their practices feel deliberately deceptive and predatory--especially when buyers and sellers are under pressure during escrow. Avoid this company. Work with an escrow firm that is upfront, fair, and professional. I've reported this to the California Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau.

Just found out that our house deed was incorrectly filled out. Claire who is the senior escrow officer who helped us, did not explain how we could be impacted by our selection. We trusted her to help us ensure that the form was completed accurately and now we're having to get a new house deed. Considering that she is the subject matter expert with these, I would've appreciated and expected her to help ensure that this form was being completed accurately in our best interest. This is an important document that I feel like she dropped the ball with education and ensuring that we were taken care of. Very disappointed and hoping that they rectify this.. I would highly recommend to not use them. They will not do right by their customers.
