He repeatedly "corrected" our vision for a certain color combination. We worked together for 2 months to find the perfect flooring. Not once during the process did he mention he is CASH ONLY as he had one bad experience with a product only (no install) chargeback a few years ago. Since credit cards provide a lot of consumer protection in regards to warranty and paper trail records for warranties, we contacted the HQ for Floor Coverings International to ensure they would keep the records in case this local store goes out of business, as our flooring came with a 20 year warranty to the tune of $5000. The HQ staff was very helpful, they understood the problem with cash only records and offered to speak with John to see if he would accept a partial cash and partial credit payment to solve the problem. They also stated they had a similar problem with another location skipping town and leaving customers without service post-sale, so they understood our concerns as it's valid. They also pointed out John plans to retire soon so he won't be in business much longer likely however they would find another location owner to travel to us if need me. Southern hospitality at this HQ 100%. We texted and called multiple times to complete the sale over the next 2 weeks. After a 2 month working relationship with a contract in hand and ready to write him a check to begin work, John GHOSTED us without so much as a voicemail, letter, text, nothing. Highly unprofessional. After 4 weeks waiting for him to respond, giving consideration perhaps something had prevented him from replying, we ordered the same product from elsewhere and paid a few hundred more BUT we were able to get quick, friendly service, installation warranty, full product warranty, and use our credit card which gives us peace of mind long term for warranty records as well as cashback on the $5000+ purchase from our card issuer. Overall, we wanted to use John, HQ were reassuring and reasonable people, and he had better products than Endwell Rug or Discount Carpet. But, ultimately, someone who acts inscrutably pre-sale is going to be trouble post-sale. We are very happy with our new flooring and are bummed we could not support this small local business.

We received great advice regarding available carpet selections to stay within our budget. The installers were courteous, neat and did a quality work. We are very satisfied with everything.

Brad, the man who lays their tiles came to my home, ostensibly to do the measurements. For the threshold to the bathroom, I now have and still want a marble bar, which other stores offer. He told me that he only would provide a metal threshold. I want below the new wallpaper an edge of tile several inches in height, which I have in another bathroom. He complained that he did not want to cut tiles to make the edge. I should have got the point, yet after he bragged that he himself could redo the entire bathroom, I asked him if he would install the vanity and recess the medicine cabinet. He assented. I listed what would be in his written contract for the extra work, which included caulking. He texted me as follows: "Between that yes but you said vanity to the wall. I'm a professional with 30 years..you either trust my work or you can get another guy to install them". I showed the text to three friends, who said "he's unprofessional" and "he does not want your job". The fourth time I went to the store was politely to ask for someone else to lay the tiles. The salesman Bob said that my request was "above his pay-grade". The manager Anselm who listened to me was silent. Four days later Paul, the salesman who waited on me, called and said that I would have to shop elsewhere.

I had to have a commercial space, which had an uneven concrete floor, skimmed to create a smooth…read moresurface for flooring that is to be installed on top. The owner of this concrete company (Ryan) was quick to respond and provide an estimate, and he guaranteed that I would love the end result. He spent one day chipping and cleaning the area, and the next day pouring the concrete (side note- I understand that it's legal, but it was very unsettling that he showed up on the second day wreaking of weed. Perhaps he didn't think I would notice or maybe he just didn't care, but it raised an eyebrow as he was there to do a professional job). According to him, the truck that he had arranged to come and pour, had concrete with some sort of stones mixed in that he did not plan on. So he spent time plucking stones out. I'm not sure why he didn't just contact the company he arranged the truck with and get the right material delivered (I was not aware of any of this until after the fact). By the end of that day, the floor looked beautiful, as it was still wet, and I paid promptly. Within a few days, there were cracks throughout. By the two week mark, the floor was so badly cracked that it was lifting EVERYWHERE and hollow underneath all of these areas. I immediately contacted him to come and correct this problem. He arrived a few days later. He did not pull up areas that were cracked and starting to crumble (these areas literally moved under our feet), he just poured concrete over them. Before it was even dried, the cracks were coming through. I asked him if he used a bonding agent as my contractor stated it did not look as if any was used. And the owner stated that he 'never really thought a bonding agent worked that good anyways'. Over the next few days, I had two flooring professionals and three contractors at the location, all telling me that the entire floor had to be chipped up and redone as it was already coming apart and would not withstand flooring being put on top of it. Additionally, every single one of them states that a bonding agent was clearly not used. It would be one thing if there were a few cracks here or there, but literally, the entire floor is pulling up and cracking, showing that there weren't just a few spots missed. There was just no bonding agent applied to begin with. Another mystery that the flooring specialists as well as the contractors couldn't quite put their finger on, was that no one could really confirm what material was actually used. Though I was told this job would be done with a self-leveling concrete, they do not feel this was the case. They honestly couldn't tell if it was mortar or stucco or whatever might've been left over in the truck. But it did not have the finish or coloring that it should've. I contacted the owner yet again and told him all of this, and that I wanted and deserved a refund as he did not provide the service he guaranteed. However, this time he did not respond. Some cracking here and there over years of use is to be expected, but the entire floor is in worse condition than before he did anything to it. A refund is absolutely necessary as I cannot salvage any of this and I have to pay to have it pulled up, cleaned, and done over. But without any response from him, now I have to take other steps. This was, and continues to be, an absolutely horrible experience and I hope no one else has to go through something like this.
