I had a wonder experience at Murky Waters! It started with the "hey Queen!" greeting from my server/waitress, Randi. Randi was phenomenal! We discussed the menu and she gave me wonderful drink recommendations. Once I placed my order, my food quickly arrived at my table, piping hot. I intentionally ordered a larger portion meal so that I could take half of it to go for dinner later. Again, Randi came through with to-go containers included small containers for sauce. She included napkins, plastic ware and a wet nap. After my meal, I had some time to spare before I needed to head to the train. Randi told me to take my time and hang out, no rush. She refilled my water and I sat and read on my Kindle until it was time for me to go. When traveling alone, you don't know what to expect when you try a business for the first time. Will you be greeted warm, how will the service be...you just never know. This was a 5 star experience across the board. And Randi, if you ever see this; Thank you Queen! Walking by in a nice day. Had heard good things so stopped in on a whim. Great decision. The place is spacious with friendly staff. We were seated and our server came out right away to introduce herself and get us drinks. New location is gorgeous but they bit off more than they can chew. The location in Gulfport and Bay St Louis (no longer operating...) are way better. Now that they have expanded at this location, it seems like it's gone downhill. The smaller locations have always been better. The burnt ends I had at the smaller location were tender, fresh, and plentiful, the last few times I've come to this new LARGE location, the first time they were out of burnt ends, second time they were dry and crumbly - like they been left under a heat lamp for 2 days. Potato salad, house salad, and fries are good. Collards are hit or miss. You can't tell they're even open, both times we've been we are the ONLY customers. The whole staff is so bored. They're pretty friendly considering they only have to tend to one or two people at a time. The open signs never on and the windows are dark so they look closed. I do enjoy the drinks, atmosphere, and good bbq but since this new spot has opened they've really gone downhill. I'm not sure I'll be back to this location if I ever decide to return - it's really a bummer. I ordered a quesadilla. It's a limited menu upstairs. Pretty much bar food. The food is okay. Not bad just okay. I feel like the one in Gulfport is better. There was a short wait to get our table and once I saw the wing special menu, I understood why. It's a two story building with a causal feel. I ordered her the quesadilla (per her request) and ordered a half order of pulled pork nachos and 5 wings with sweet Asian sauce (it's wing Wednesday). I don't know what was better-the wings or the nachos. The wings are smoked then flash fried to make them crispy. The sauce was not spicy but sweet just like the name depicted. They were really good. My nachos were good as well! Probaly would have liked them more if my niece didn't eat half of them. Pictured is the half order of nachos. I almost got a full order but decided half was fine since I was going to get the wings. 5 stars for our server Maygan. Despite having a nice kids menu, they didn't have coloring sheets but she found some stickers and brought my niece a pen and the paper silverware sleeves. This place was recommended by a friend. I love BBQ, but it's been a while since I had some I thought was special. Thank goodness for Murky Waters. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! My date had listed a few restaurants that she wanted to try. Murky Waters was one of them. My sole reason picking Murk Waters was that it was a barbecue restaurant. I had to spin around a few times to find a spot. I finally found a salon that was closed for the night to park. It was a quick walk from the place so it wasn't too bad. When we entered the building we were greeted by the wait staff. We were asked if we wanted to go upstairs where live music was being played. It was only $10 but we decided to stay downstairs to focus on eating. I looked at the menu for a bit. I noticed sliced brisket and quickly made my decision to get that. I went with fries and mac and cheese for sides. My date got the burnt ends. The food came back super fast. I didn't know how I felt about that. It was a good surprise because I was hungry. The Mac and cheese was really good. I also enjoyed the waffle fries. The brisket was alright. I guess I've been spoiled because the flavor of the brisket didn't jump out to me. Seating upstairs and downstairs, though menus tend to vary between them. The day we went, they only served wings upstairs, but the full menu downstairs. Looks like there is a stage upstairs for performers; not sure if they only have performers on certain days of the week, but there was no performer on a Wednesday night. Servers and hosts were nice. Came here on vacation and this place came highly recommend and we were not disappointed. We had the burnt ends and the sweet smoked wings. both were great! the fried okra was also very good. the mac and cheese not so much :-( The service was very attentive. We had a good meal this evening at Murky Waters in Ocean Springs. Not too busy and that was great because we needed both fans blasting at our table. It's not MW's fault that there are a lot of flies around so no ding there. The fans really help to keep the things moving along. I chose the third-of-a-rack ribs. A good portion though a little dry and needing some table sauce. The cole slaw was good but too much mayo. The chopped collard greens were very good with a bit of bacon in there and a tangy flavor. I did eat some of my friends fries - crisp and seasoned. Yum. A nice list of a baker's dozen beers (some local, some not!) through the only one I wanted was out. I ended up with a bottled beer instead, no foul. Overall, four stars and I'm a fan. I'd get the pulled pork next time as my friend said it was great. At that time we went to the Gulfport location and the food was good but the service wasn't great. This time we were near Ocean Springs and decided to try out this location - this time the food was good and the service was excellent We got the quarter chicken with two sides - waffle fries which were good and the fried okra which had amazing batter; we got the beef brisket sandwich with one side - the brisket was good, a little dry so the bbq sauce provided was needed and made it very good; the house salad which was decent; and to start with nachos which came with a lot of cheese but that + the added bbq sauce made it really good. Once COVID times hit we noticed a huge change in the quality of their sides. They were very much straight out of the can...that should say enough. Murky Waters! The waters at the beach 10 miles away were murky, so the name makes more sense than you know. Little place off the beaten path of the Biloxi gulf coast on a nice little strip of restaurants and bars. Not going to lie folks, this bbq is damn good. The brisket was as tender as maybe I've ever had, the ribs legitimately fell off the bone as you picked them up, the smoked sausage had excellent flavor, the beans were sweet and smoky, the greens had a great depth of flavor. The slaw and onion rings were not memorable. Also they were very good about keeping distance in the restaurant and with the outdoor tables.
