Haven't been here since 1998 when we were stationed at Keesler - it's BETTER than I remember. Mike is taking over for his dad, who took it over from his parents. DO NOT PASS OVER this outstanding BBQ, and don't miss the Pies for dessert.

This was okay for lunch. I had the rib plate with cole slaw and collard greens, which was served with Texas toast. I'm not sure why it was 20 minutes to be prepared, but I had the Internet and kept myself entertained. The ribs were meaty but very covered in sauce. The cole slaw was good and crisp. The collards were a bit bland. The place is not fancy and has almost no decor. It's simple and that's okay. [Review 14176 overall, 1498 of 2020, number 67 in Mississippi.]

Was in the area so decided to check out some of the areas highest rated BBQ places. I have to say I was disappointed with this joint. Friendly staff but girl taking order did not seem to really know menu or even how to take care of you. I will not waste time going into all the details. As for the food, I had ribs and chicken. Why, at 2:30 in the afternoon the BBQ place was out of chicken and could not do a 1/2 chicken dinner so I told them to give me s few ribs to offset. The chicken was kind of dry and no skin on it. The ribs were good. Also had bake beans which were nothing special and slaw. BBQ is more about the sauce here and this misses the mark for me. First, no sauce on the tables. Seems they only have one sauce and it's just OK. A little spice or peppery but does not stand out.

If you could only Smell this photo!! Yum!!

My Hubby and I just enjoyed a great lunch here. The people were FANTASTIC! Definitely recommend this place .

The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

We discussed the menu and she gave me wonderful drink recommendations. Once I placed my order, my food quickly arrived at my table, piping hot. I intentionally ordered a larger portion meal so that I could take half of it to go for dinner later. Again, Randi came through with to-go containers included small containers for sauce. She included napkins, plastic ware and a wet nap. After my meal, I had some time to spare before I needed to head to the train. Randi told me to take my time and hang out, no rush. She refilled my water and I sat and read on my Kindle until it was time for me to go. When traveling alone, you don't know what to expect when you try a business for the first time. Will you be greeted warm, how will the service be...you just never know. This was a 5 star experience across the board. And Randi, if you ever see this; Thank you Queen! You are a beautiful soul!

Now that they have expanded at this location, it seems like it's gone downhill. The smaller locations have always been better. The burnt ends I had at the smaller location were tender, fresh, and plentiful, the last few times I've come to this new LARGE location, the first time they were out of burnt ends, second time they were dry and crumbly - like they been left under a heat lamp for 2 days. Potato salad, house salad, and fries are good. Collards are hit or miss. You can't tell they're even open, both times we've been we are the ONLY customers. The whole staff is so bored. They're pretty friendly considering they only have to tend to one or two people at a time. The open signs never on and the windows are dark so they look closed. I do enjoy the drinks, atmosphere, and good bbq but since this new spot has opened they've really gone downhill. I'm not sure I'll be back to this location if I ever decide to return - it's really a bummer. Even more depressing is the Bay St. Louis location closing because the bartender was friendly and kept great conversation, burnt ends I had there were the best, and I thought the location was great.

I ordered the flavored champagne flight during brunch and specifically asked for very light syrup because the drinks are usually extremely sweet. When the flight came out, it tasted exactly the same as the regular version -- overwhelmingly sweet to the point that I genuinely could not drink it. When I politely mentioned it, the bartender/manager said "that's just how it comes" and initially refused to do anything about it. I sent the flight back and ordered a plain glass of champagne instead. Our server told us she would speak to the manager and have her come talk to us, but apparently the manager refused multiple times because she was "too busy." Eventually, the same flight was brought back out after they said they had poured some out and added more champagne on top. Unfortunately, it was still far too sweet, and I still couldn't drink two of the four glasses. What disappointed me most wasn't even the drinks -- it was the customer service. Mistakes happen, but the dismissive attitude from management and lack of concern made the experience frustrating and uncomfortable. The server also seemed irritated at being caught in the middle rather than interested in resolving the situation. I still tipped 20% because I know serving isn't easy, but after today I honestly don't see myself coming back.
