Our first time here, after waiting years to try it. We came in on a Monday night, the place was empty. We decided on 2 Original burgers, Cajun fries and chili cheese fries. The place was very clean and the guys were very nice. Our burgers and fries looked great, presented very nicely. The flavor of the burgers was nothing special, and the sauce had very little flavor. The fries are hand cut, and they were pretty good. The chili cheese fries looked awesome, they're topped with a chunky beef and beans chili (not coney chili fyi). We both thought the chili had a familiar flavor and both thought it tasted like a Sloppy Joe sauce, not as sweet, but similar flavors. All In all, I think the food is fine, it didn't live up to the hype for us. read more

I stopped in for my very 1st Taystee's Burger and found he staff at this location very helpful and focused on great customer service. The young man taking my order was patient as I tried to decide from the large variety of burgers which all sounded delicious, but I went with the Original to start off and it was very tasty. The bun was soft and I loved the mix of hot burger patty with the crisp crunch of shredded lettuce, pickle, and tomato all blended nicely with the sauce they put on. The fries were a huge portion, hand cut and I did their salt and pepper seasoning- light. A very satisfying meal in a bright, clean and colorful dining area. You get a good meal at a decent price, honestly can't remember because I was so hungry it didn't matter. But I definitely will be back to try other burgers in the near future! read more

Absolutely amazing experience at Taystees! The food was beyond delicious. I ordered the Cool Ranch Supreme burger and it was packed with flavor--juicy, perfectly cooked, and honestly one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. My fiancé got the Original burger, and it was just as impressive: simple, classic, and done perfectly. We also shared the chili cheese fries, which were loaded, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the burgers. Everything was fresh, hot, and clearly made with care. Went to Taystees because we had heard such amazing things about the burgers. The place was very clean with a lot of spots to sit. The staff at the front where we placed our orders were very friendly and answered questions we had. Very professional. We ordered original burgers with chili fries and Cajun fries. The fries were really good. The chili was a little too sweet for me. I almost felt like it was sloppy Joe mix. The Cajun fries were good. The burgers were nothing special, they weren't bad, they were just ok. I don't think I would say it's the best burger I've ever had, but it definitely wasn't the worst. I have been wanting to try Taystee Burger for years, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Taystee's Original so I could get a feel for their basic burger, and it was delicious. The grilled onions are what makes it in my opinion. I ordered it without lettuce and tomato, and they easily made the substitution. The West Coast Fries were phenomenal. The fries themselves are fresh cut and perfectly fried, and there are a ton of different varieties you can get. I didn't know if I was going to enjoy the nacho cheese on top of the West Coast Fries, but with the Taystee sauce and grilled onions it was a good combination. I would definitely order these again. The woman at the counter was very friendly, and our food was ready in 10 minutes. The burger was a little on the greasy side, and had grease on the tray but this was to be expected. In the future, I may try one of their chicken options to balance out the heaviness of the fries. Overall, if I'm in the area again I'm definitely stopping by! read more

*COVID19 Edition* Do I start with the food or the service? I'm going to start with the service. Immediately, there were at least three employees who were wearing their masks incorrectly. Instead, their masks only covered their mouths and not their noses, which is against current Michigan COVID19 guidelines. One employee blatantly just had his mask hanging from his ear, covering NOTHING, and no management was calling him out on it. On top of that, the line wasn't too long, but the wait for the food seemed longer than it needed to be. Their promised wait time came and went. So no stars for that. The food itself? Nothing special. I ordered the Notch-Yo-Burger, their most famous award-winning burger. It was fine. Honestly, it was a complete mess to eat. There were some interesting flavors but I was distracted by the disaster that it ultimately devolved into. I didn't enjoy eating it. I'm not sure I'll come back here even after there's no pandemic to worry about it. Management clearly doesn't take health issues seriously, and the food's nothing to sing about it. I'm not sure how long this location has been open, but I found it by accident while going to Kroger. I've heard great things about Taystee's but never had them. When I got to the register to order the employee was very helpful. She let me know I can change any burger to a crispy chicken patty, instead of just getting a chicken sandwich. As a result I ordered the BBQ with crispy chicken instead of the burger patty. Sautéed mushrooms, onions, green peppers, beef bacon, Swiss cheese and bbq sauce on an onion roll!!! I've never been so happy with a chicken sandwich. I also ordered a side of lemon pepper fries, which were hot out the grease and delicious. I will definitely be back. I was cruising through this part of town and saw that Taystee's Burgers was a fairly new burger joint that had opened in a strip mall with plenty of available parking. The suite was brightly lit and could seat roughly forty customers. The setup and decor reminded me a bit like that of Five Guys minus the complimentary peanuts. Their burgers were 100% halal prepared so it's great for those customers who follow such a practice. For a mid-afternoon visit, I had the misfortune of having two people in front of me who took an extremely long time to place their respective orders. Each one had numerous questions and was changing their mind on the fly before committing to their items. When I got to the counter, all I wanted was a Taystee's Original on a brioche bun to-go. The $5.49 price tag included lettuce, tomato, pickles, American cheese, grilled onions and housemade sauce as toppings. The order was freshly made by the kitchen staff so the preparation time was about 5-10 minutes. When I took my first bite, I thought the burger was good but not the best I have tasted. For the size, quality of ingredients and price, I gave my experience a 3.5 star rating. read more

I've been to the original location a few times but it's been several years. I was in the area so I stopped in. I got the teriyaki burger and the specialty fries. The food was good but it cost almost $20 for just me and I didn't order a drink. That's just too much for fast food. I could have a nice sit down restaurant meal for the same price. Incredible halal burgers with crazy add-ons! We got the Alis nacho burger that has all kinds of cheese and a layer of doritos! Also got the volcano that has stuff fried jalapeño poppers in the burger! Family got the Hawaiin burger which has a Pinapple and some sweet sauce which they said was good too. All of this at a gas station stop. I was able to buy an iPhone charger for $5 that I desperately needed too so that worked out really well for me haha. I love the new location! It's bigger, airier, and also super close to the apartment. We came in on MLK day for lunch and were served right away. Staff were super nice and very friendly. In a world full of burgers and so called "burger experts/connoisseurs," it's surprising how many burger joints are just "meh." Taystee's however, was more than enjoyable our first time around. I had them bookmarked as one of a few burger places to visit in Michigan, based on all the other reviews as well as a couple mentions from random acquaintance. Driving to this location had me puzzled a bit, only because my trusted Samanta (Waze) was taking me through random run-down residential neighborhoods to get there. And if you're driving near Detroit, some neighborhoods just don't give out inviting aura. But in the end, it turned out to be located on one of the main busy commercial areas. Oddly enough, first thing I noticed when I walked up to the counter was the "We're halal" sign. Doing the quick math in my head, I thought of all the Mid-Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants I've been to that served seemingly unrelated regional food such as burgers, spaghetti, chicken tenders of the world, and thought to myself, "huh, it must be a thing now." I also immediately thought of a couple of my coworkers whom are Muslims and don't eat regular burgers. I later confirmed that one of them had tried Taystee's and already was a fan, and another one who had never tried a "burger" until last week when I forced him to try one at a local halal place. They weren't as good as Taystee's. Anyway, I had hoped Taystee's would be good, and they definitely hit the mark for me. My previous experiences at other halal places were mostly very good, and if that was of any indication, I knew Taystee's would get their beef seasoning right. I ordered 3 different burgers for my family, and a large order of fries, which turned out to be a bit too much, but very taystee. :-D Burgers were cooked very well also. I think I was mostly excited that I could recommend them to my now-no-longer-burger-virgin coworker. I don't care who you are; If you live in America, you should be able to enjoy a nice juicy hamburger like a good American does. And having halal options will only broaden the horizon. Watch out Basement Bar Burger and 5 Guys, there's a new sheriff in town, and this one will put you to shame!! Their new location has ample seating, comfy seats, multiple large screen tv's, a state of the art multi-flavor Coke machine (I wish they had Jack & Coke flavor - can I get an Amen?), milkshake machine and a pager system to come and pick up your food from the counter! Did I also mention that the food is fresh, hot, flavorful and absolutely TAYSTEE?!?!?! Just like their 1st location, the heart and soul of the new location is the delicious food... Today I got Ali's Notch-Yo-Burger (Won the Detroit Burger Brawl a few years ago), Coleslaw Fries and a Coke! This burger is incredible and hits all tastebuds and has the following: 5oz patty, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, american, pepper jack & nacho cheese, beef bacon, nacho cheese doritos, mayo & hot sauce within an onion bun. This burger has become a legend in SE Michigan, and with one try, I think you will agree! It is always fresh, juicy, perfectly cooked!!! I also had a side of their legendary Coleslaw Fries... These fries are the bomb and consist of fries with coleslaw and BBQ sauce on top. One taste and you'll be hooked... So I LOVE TAYSTEE's! Been a fan since the original location was open. Like that they now have a bigger place to dine in, I however, did carry out my first visit. The menu has more options like beef bacon fries, crispy chicken melt, lettuce leaf buns and power bowls?! What??! That's amazing! The one disappointment I have is I ordered an Ali's notch-yo burger on a lettuce leaf bun and they did not give me the beef bacon that comes as part of the burger!!!! Which I didn't notice until I got home that it was missing. So not sure if it was just a miss because of my lettuce leaf bun or because they just forgot? I assume it was a one time fluke so I will be coming here in the future again. Hence only 4 stars. All and all happy you guys opened a new location West Coast fries are a MUST HAVE! read more

We didn't know if we'd be able to get a table or not, but a group left just as we got there and we were able to pull together some tables and they brought over a few chairs for us. This location is better than the other one just cause it's family friendly and you can take your group of 11 and enjoy the burgers and fries. My friend and I shared the bacon cheese fries and they were the perfect amount of cheese and bacon bits and of course, fries. The other location is fine, but it was a little cramped being that it was sharing space with a gas station. This feels like a true experience, and there is more than just burgers on the menu. Three of us stopped for burgers and fries. The fries are not as good as from several months ago. I saw the cook using pre-cut fries from a bag, and I swear they used to hand cut the fries in the store, so - they were not nearly as good. Please bring back the hand cut fries. The meat also tasted a little less juicy...maybe Taystee's changed their beef grind mix too? Taystee used to be my favorite burger place for a burger & fries. Now it's at best tied with the other specialty burger joints, with a few places (Fi-burger, and Zo's) now being a little better than Taystee's.
