I had my new-to-me car inspected at TC auto. I called and the gentleman was more than happy to explain what their complimentary 42 point inspection was all about as well as their complete inspection that was $159. Wanting to make sure this new (used) car was safe I opted for both inspections. Within a couple hours I was sent a detailed list of things from their courtesy inspection that needed repair along with photos. And soon after received a phone call with the details and he was happy to help with any questions I had. My reasoning for a missing star was I asked for the details on the $159 inspection and was told everything looked great, but that could have been because the seller wiped it clean (?!). I'm just your typical women who knows nothing about cars and had no idea this was possible. I felt taken advantage of for not being told about this before I agreed to pay $159. On top of that, there was some kind of $12 fee I was not told about that brought my total to $172 after taxes. I really appreciate their kind customer service and their nice clean waiting room but I would still recommend anyone who has no clue about cars to ask around before spending money here. read more

Rook my car is three time. They charge you to take it out of their dealership whether or not they do anything to the car. Took my car in with issues of jumping RPM's, slow to speed up and sometimes wouldn't go faster than 10 mph. It would complelty stall to 0 RPM if I braked in traffic. It's been a couple of years since I had that car and I now know that those are very clear signs of a bad transmission. Something these people would definitely have known, but instead decided to hide behind not being able to read what was wrong with the car because the battery didn't have any history on it. Slimy business! STAY AWAY. Confidently quoted $1000.12 to change a top access ALTERNATOR on a 2008 vehicle simple breakdown and rebuild. An alternator is $200 from any of the four ORiley's near this shop. Labor is 2.5hrs tops for this job. We were stuck from out of town but didn't have our regular maintenance tools with us. I have used TC for several years and they have always been very friendly and fast. Today I stopped by on my lunch hour for a inspection on my vehicle knowing that I was taking a chance on how busy it would be and whether they would have someone able to do my inspection when I got there. They explained that one technician was on another job and one was at lunch. the informed me that it would be a 25 to 30 minute wait and asked if I was OK with waiting which I was since I had already planned on using my whole lunch hour. They checked in with me numerous times letting me know they haven't forgotten me and letting me know that status. I was done and back to work within my 1 hour lunch. I know they don't really make money on inspections so if they put such great customer service when that is all you are coming in for, you know their service is great!!!!! read more

Very frustrated with my experience here. I had my upper and lower controller arms replaced at a fairly high price but I needed it as I was about to be driving cross-country to Florida. A year later and I am hearing a loud pop every time I turn my steering wheel with full deflection to back out or pull out of a parking space. I took it in to a new mechanic in San Diego today, about a year and 3 months after the controller arms were originally replaced, and they show me how one side upper controller arm is broken and will require replacing due to it having been fitted with a cheap ball joint part. The other sides has no issues and was fitted with the more expensive part. This mechanic says he believes whoever did the original replacement (TC) may have not wanted to delay the maintenance to get another high quality part and used a much cheaper one, which led to all the damage only being on this one side. Pretty ridiculous that I had the whole thing replaced and it's now causing me issues again only slightly more than a year later. I am very dissatisfied with this result. I cannot even leave this review on their main website as there is an issue with the reCAPTCHA and I am assuming they are leaving this domain issue up so that nobody can leave negative reviews on their main page. AAA could only tow to a recommended garage who accepted cars on Sunday and we are forever grateful TC Auto fit the bill. TC Auto review Avoid this place like the plague. Perhaps Dubs right down the road, not the cheapest but they always do good work. I did not think it was possible to have a worse experience, and then I came here. I really wanted to like this place, as they are extremely close to my house. Last year I had a bad experience but the manager rectified the situation so I decided to give them another chance. That was a huge mistake. My car was overheating due to a coolant leak. After dropping about $1000 on a new radiator, I would reasonably expect a functional cooling system, but a few weeks later, the car is overheating again and the radiator is running dry. I brought it back since they said I had a 3-year warranty. That warranty is worthless. They said I needed to pay another $580 for some plastic heater hose connections that broke. I told them I'd just come get the car and figure it out myself. When I got there, they charged me $170 even though they did nothing because they had to do a pressure test to figure out the problem. They did not disclose this fee beforehand. It gets worse. Luckily, I had brought coolant to fill the radiator so it wouldn't overheat on the 5-minute drive home. When I popped the hood to do this, it was all disassembled, missing cover, loose hoses laying around, etc. Who knows what kind of damage I might have done if I had tried to drive it home like that, assuming it would have even turned on at all, but I'm glad I didn't try. They better not charge me for at least putting the car back together, but I wouldn't be surprised with their history of figuring out ways to rip you off. By the way, if you choose not to do yourself a favor and ignore my advice, be prepared to pay $150 diagnostics fee before they even touch your car. Other places do this, but they at least credit that for any repairs they end up doing. Not so at TC. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. Must have been some better glory days in their past. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this money pit. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me... but NEVER AGAIN. New update: it gets even worse. After getting my car back the second time, they had put the air hose and beauty cover back on so it looked reassembled, but I took it home and took those back off so I could figure it out and there are at least three completely loose hoses back there. At this point this is looking like willful sabotage... if it's not, then it's gross negligence... either way not a shop you should entrust your vehicle. read more

We've had the misfortune and pleasure to have needed our vehicle repaired 3 times and used TC Auto Service. Before then, we'd been taking it to the dealer (yeah, I know, we live and learn). If I had to base my rating on the "first impression" of the staff there, this score might've been one notch lower. They're kind of to-the-point kind of people. You explain the problem, they take your keys, off you go for a while. Okay, that said, HERE's why the 5-star. After our experiences with dealership repairs and almost EVERY return comes away at LEAST $500 poorer, we were thrilled get a respectable bill from TC Auto; one I wouldn't have a second thought or rebuttal about paying. The OTHER reason this gets a 5-star is, not 48 hours after that first visit, we got a postcard in the mail with a "Thank You" note from TC Auto thanking us for our business! Now, what other auto repair place does that?? That, to me, is pure class. It may have been a 'tactic' to bring repeat business and I'm here to tell you IT WORKS! We've been back each time our vehicle needs service, and EACH time we've come away very pleased with the result and the price. And here's a prime example: Our vehicle (which we will NEVER own another one) has headlights that you would think would be easily changeable, like any other car on the road. Oh no. To replace the headlight, you have to take the front nose OFF of the vehicle to access where the plug is. The first time we did had this done was at the dealer - cost of $130. Terrible service. Same name new owners. Had my A/C worked on and picked up my van with a broken door handle, and my drivers seat would not move forward. They claimed that that was the condition I brought the van in for work. I had a terrible experience that lasted over a month. I had to take my car back 3 times for services that were not performed correctly. I am needing to take my car back a fourth time and I had an appointment with Todd (the owner) for today, but I received a call yesterday stating he was going to be out all week. They dented my vehicle when they lifted it and they are denying it. They're saying that the dents were already there. False! They messed up the traction on my vehicle and I still have issues with my vehicle. They blamed it on Walmart stating that they hadn't put the battery in properly. Well it's not walmart's fault...tc auto had to remove the battery to change the spark plugs. I paid for lifetime alignment and my vehicle still veers to the right. Todd states that he is a man of integrity, but is showing otherwise. He kept saying to me, "I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to help you." no Todd. I paid for services...in fact $2000 worth and all I asked was for the services to be performed correctly. You're not helping me if I have to take my car back three or four times. Now I am uncomfortable taking my vehicle back to them because I don't trust them. They certainly get you on up selling and the $159 diagnostics test is misleading. They have deleted all the negative reviews from their website and Facebook (including mine) and it looks as if they have a five star rating which in fact they don't. Beware of this place. read more

Didn't fix problem completely, Firestone said it was probably a valve issue and they really didn't do that. So I took it to TC Auto Service. They said they could do that kind of repair and look into it. I was quoted $200.00 to take off the valve cover and check out the cylinder and valves. Said it wasn't a fuel or injector issue. Said OK. Check it out. Came back with a head assembly replacement for $4,000.00 for one head and $6,000.00 for 2 heads. A new head from the dealer is only $475? There labor rates must be through the roof! So I said button it back up I'll come and get it. Long story cut short. They charged me $99.00 inspection fee for telling me basically what Firestone did ( it's on the invoice saying Firestone said). $260.00 to remove valve cover. $150.00 to put it back on. $105.00 dollars for a valve cover casket. So $545 dollars to get my car out. Was quoted only $200.00 to check it out. They get you when its time to put it back together. Very deceiving!! In fact, service writer Joe told me some people don't have their cars put back together and they just put the parts in a box? I can imagine why! Be very careful. Wolf in sheep's clothing! read more

We were down in Corpus Christie for some beach time on N Padre Island. We hit a pothole evening before we plan to go home. On the way home from dinner, we can hear something rattling in the right front and brake pedal went to the floor. Luckily we can still stop. Searching Yelp, TC Auto Service had great reviews an was only 1.1 miles away from our hotel. I got our 2005 Honda Accord to TC Auto next morning as soon as they opened at 7 am. I described my issue to the friendly staff and left the vechicle with them. Although they do have a spacious waiting room, they also have a free shuttle service so I went back to the hotel. Less than 3 hrs later, they sent me an e-mail with photos of the inspection and another with the estimate for work needed (the brake line for the left front wheel was severed and needed replacement as well flushing the brake lines) as well as called to confirm the estimate. After I agreed to the work, it was done within an hour and half! With a ride back to TC Auto Service, I picked up our car and was back at the hotel within 5 hrs after dropping the car off without an appointment! Thank you TC Auto Service, for the quick repair that allowed us to safely drive back to Austin! Highly recommended!!! read more

I have had a substantial amount of work done on a classic vehicle by them and it has been amazing.
