Yummy yummy to my tummy. The only words to describe my ice cream from Handel's. I was first…read moreintrigued by their extensive list of ice creams. They have some unique flavors including pineapple upside down cake, deep dish apple pie, chocolate peanut butter brownie, and strawberry cheesecake chunk. Handel's is a takeout only ice cream parlor with over 100 flavors. I've seen this chain featured on social media and was ecstatic to learn they had arrived in the Charlotte area. The Handel's in Indian Land is located in Red Stone. It's in the back side of the shopping center across from Margaritas so you may not immediately see it when you drive in the shopping plaza. There is a lot of parking including spaces in front of Handel's. I went late Sunday evening and walked straight up to the window. The staff was patient as I asked questions. They have sugar cones, waffle cones, waffle bowls, and blended ice cream treats. I decided on a chocolate dipped waffle cone with Cheesecake made with Oreo ice cream. My cone was creamy, decadent, not overly sweet, filled with cookies and cheesecake chunks. The cone had at least two large scoops, more than I could eat. I took mine to go, but they several tables with umbrellas where you could sit and enjoy your ice cream there. I could rant and rave about how delicious this ice cream is, but you'll have to try it for yourself

Very excellent and amazing array of homemade flavors. Also very cleaver names for many of these…read moreunique treats. Only outdoor seating at metal tables, most without umbrellas. Wear hats if super hot and sunny and consider eating in your car if windy. You line up at the order window and you will need to read their menus before you can really order. There are cones and dishes, pints and quarts, sundaes, hurricanes, shakes, and pops (ice cream on a stick). Waffle cones and bowls. Will blow your decision-making brain. The have over 100 flavors but only have out at any given time about 48 of them. Wife and I love the 4 scoop sampler. Order four different flavors each of them are in a slightly smaller size of dipper/scooper. A great way to dive into those many flavors. I could not find prices, but my recent receipt for a small dish was $4.50. Their ice creams are wonderful. You need to check this place out. Good, old-fashioned delicious ice creams.

Their custard is delicious! I ordered a large vanilla concrete. No toppings required. The cup holds about 16oz and it tastes amazing. The service was pretty quick considering the line of people at the drive through. Ambiance... It's an old time custard shop. There were some families and teens waiting for their custard. It was perfect for my breakfast on a sunny 92* day.

She is always disinterested, often unfriendly, and sometimes...downright rude. I honestly don't know what her problem is, but it is a persistent one. Her attitude totally melts my ice cream. I'm to the point of just going somewhere else for ice cream because she can downright ruin the happy experience. Maybe she shouldn't be the one taking orders? It's too bad, but it's the truth. One can overlook bad service, but not a bad pattern Andy, can you hear me?? Edit: I tried sharing details with the OM mentioned here. Other than the initial template response, he never got back to me. Life is more important than leaving reviews or being salty about poor service, but, if your goal is to "resolve" bad experiences...mission not accomplished. Just letting you know. I since visited the Matthews location and it was awesome btw. Way different service experience.

There is plenty of parking in the plaza and tables both inside and out where you can enjoy your treat! We tried the cinnamon toast crunch and butterfinger, and both were exactly what you would expect! They have quite a few flavors to pick from, so I will definitely need to go check out some of the others. Prices are very reasonable with a small at $4, medium at $6 or a pint at $10. They also have a loyalty card and punch a hole for every order. Once you fill the card, you get to spin the wheel and win a prize, anything from free ice cream, t-shirt, hat, or even a stuffed puppy (Hank). Unfortunately, Hank was not there today, but just another reason to go back! The employees behind the counter were friendly and were cleaning and picking up between customers, keeping the place tidy. It's definitely a place to go and check out!

My sons wanted to go to SweetFrog but i told them lets go try some real ice cream. I got the coffee caramel, my daughter got cookie dough (she said its REAL cookie dough and was delicious), my oldest son got cookies & cream (fun fact, it takes 44 Oreos to make a batch), my youngest son got vanilla (he took a bite and told him wow you did a good job, it's delicious!). Before we left my youngest told him "you do a really good job with your ice creams, thank you"! There is also a freezer of pints (cash only) if you want to bring some home to enjoy! If you love ice cream and like to support local like my family does, please stop in to Hanks Carolina Creamery! Check out his merch too while youre there!
