I was excited to see popcorn chicken being offered here and also wanted to try a new boba milk tea place in Capitol hill and this place seems promising. I came here around 6:30pm on a Tuesday and there was no wait at all. Popcorn chicken (3/5) The seasoning is very strong with a powerful cumin smell and flavor. The seasoning is also a bit heavy and tasted too salty to eat. I had to get paper towels to brush off the seasoning for this to be palatable. The texture is crispy and the chicken is soft and juicy. Hokkaido Milk Tea (2/5) This tea was a bit of a let down. I ordered it 25% sweet and less ice just the way I ordered it from countless other milk team shops. After having a good experience at the Roosevelt Tea Addicts location, I decided to stop by this one on Capitol Hill. As with the other location, ordering is done via kiosk, and the drinks come out fast. Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($6.50) - The tea is very fragrant, with deep floral notes and a tinge of astringency at the tail end. Sweetness at half is more like 25% sweet at other boba shops, or perhaps even less while the ice level at half is a bit more than other boba shops. The boba served at Tea Addicts is on the smaller side, with some pearls being almost as small as mini boba. They are not cooked long enough, very noticeably reducing the chew and bounce. The pearls have a certain taste on the exterior that's almost is a little pasticky and, while I could tell they are soaked a bit in syrup, the sweetness is off. The boba served at the Roosevelt location had a very strong honey-forward flavor, which also helped to sweeten the drink a bit. This one, in comparison, is lacking in both flavor and sweetness. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 There seems to be a consistency issue between this location and the one on Roosevelt. I ordered the exact same drink, but this one wasn't sweetened enough, and the boba was both harder and didn't taste nearly as honey soaked as the drink I received in Roosevelt. No nut allergy concerns for the boba. I must have come on an off day or something. First, we ordered an Oolong Milk Tea with boba and a Jasmine Milk Tea with boba at preferred sweetness (25% for me and 50% for my friend). We were told they were out of boba and it would take about 15 minutes to make more, which we were willing to wait for. After some time, we were approached and told it would take up to an hour and offered substitutes. I accepted jelly and grass jelly. The Oolong milk tea is incredibly weak. It was more milky and watery than any actual tea flavor. My friend reported the same with their Jasmine Milk Tea. Maybe their boba is necessary to add sweetness or flavor, but the tea itself was incredibly lackluster. Stopped by on a whim mid-day Thursday. Vibe is minimalistic and clean. Only seating is a bar height table facing the window with about 10 seats. I ordered a matcha with strawberry and oatmilk. Base order comes with whole milk and the price was $8.54 after tax. Alternative milk options available were oat and soy for an additional $1.25. My total was $9.92 before tip. Only one person was working, but my drink was ready in under 5 minutes. I didn't watch them make it, so unclear if the matcha is a premade mix. They did ask for my sweetness preference. I got regular sweetness. Flavor wise, it was strawberry milk with a bit of matcha flavor. Not upset about it! Might try half sweet next time to see if the matcha comes through more. The strawberry puree seemed fresh (house made per their website). The price per volume is typical of the area (for a specialty flavored matcha latte with alternative milk at $0.40 to $0.50 an ounce). Comes in a 24 ounce cup. Most places don't have sizes beyond 16 ounces. I did appreciate that it wasn't filled to the brim with ice. (Came out to about $3.50 each) They're not spectacular or particularly amazing, but they're not grainy, watery, or otherwise bad. A cute little coffee coffee in Capitol Hill about a 15 min walk from the downtown area. They had a buy one, get one for $1 promotion when we came but this excludes other blended yogurt drinks (we found out the hard way when we came back a second time). Their strawberry yogurt was a delight! For yogurt lovers, this has the perfect consistency of tart, thick, yogurty goodness. We got it at 25% sweet and it was perfect (maybe even a tad sweet). Make sure to shake it up and stir well to make the drink consistent throughout! Otherwise you'll end up with lots sweet purée and tart yogurt layers. We also got their Peach yogurt - also at 25% sweet and that one was noticeably less sweet than the strawberry and had less ice chunks. You don't realize how much positive impact a neighborhood store can have on the community until you show up and realized that they're closed for repair. The Rose had no hint of rose, although at least I could taste a bit of tea tannins. They both tasted just like icy milk. I also tried the Hokkaido Milk Tea a while ago, and thought the same about it. The best thing about this place was the BOGO-for-$1 deal, which means this is some of the cheapest milk tea in Seattle if you buy two. After trying this place again, it was a bit better this time, so I'm updating my review from 2* to 3*. The cleanliness is better now (didn't notice flies or sticky floors); although the interior is still uncomfortably hot in the summer (noticeably hotter than outdoors). It's a bit uncomfortable when waiting and its definitely not a boba shop where you can sit in the cafe to enjoy your drink, atleast during summer months. The wait for drinks was pretty long (~15 min?) even though the shop was not busy. In general, I think that their fruit tea drinks are better than the milk tea drinks. IMO fruit tea is just easier to execute to a decent edible level since its just tea + fruit syrup. So its fairly safe as long as you avoid the milk teas and don't get the boba. The seasoned fries are interesting. They are pretty unexpectedly sweet. I enjoyed the first few bites but the flavor started tasting a little weird after eating too many. The popcorn chicken is pretty tasty. The seasoning is more of a cumin flavor rather than the typical salt+white pepper flavor that is usually used for popcorn chicken. It reminds me of the seasoning for lamb skewers. This was my favorite thing from the menu that I tried so far. We went for their most popular mango blended yogurt with regular boba and a passion fruit tea with coconut jelly. Both drinks together were just over $9 thanks to their BOGO deal. The cups are tall, and I've been to pricier boba spots with smaller servings. I loved my drink--the yogurt was high quality, and the boba was warm and chewy. I wasn't too impressed by this place; I got the brûlée Ceylon milk tea with boba regular sweetness, and similar to what reviews say, it would've been watered down if I got less sugar. It was just the right amount of sweetness with regular sweetness, coming from someone that is not a fan of very sweet desserts. The boba is up there texture-wise but has room for potential; while it is chewy, they had a stronger aftertaste than other high quality boba. This might be mostly because the boba itself is not brown sugar boba but rather just plain general boba. The drink itself, although quite unique, did not really provide complementary flavors: milk tea + brûlée didn't really work for this drink; after drinking 25%, the flavors started to weirdly mesh together and the drink is a bit more powdery for some reason. Good creme brûlée should be smoother in texture. However, I give some props for them for caramelizing to make the drink more aesthetic. Might give this a second try for the blended yogurt series in the far future, given that, even though I don't really revisit a place so that I get a chance to try more places, I likely will as I will eventually run out of boba places if I drink boba once every week or two read more

This might be a 4.5 Stars type of place, but I think they're a bit disorganized and did drinks out of order which I always find annoying, so rounded down instead of up. This is a small cubby of a shop in Cap Hill so waiting inside isn't a realistic option during these COVID days. Be prepared to stand outside while you wait for your order. Pay attention to who was there before you so you can scooch closer to the door to hear your number yelled out from inside. My drinks: Black Sugar Milk Tea - Need to embrace sugar to appreciate this drink. Even though I like the black sugar taste, ordering at 50% sugar just didn't bring out the flavor enough. I need to stop ordering this; that's on me. Hokkaido Milk Tea - This is a milkier drink; the sweetness reminded me of honey. But I like my milk tea to have more tea taste. They used some sort of purée/pulp, which I actually appreciate them for keeping it fresh. However, grapefruit itself was adding a bitter, sour flavor to the already sour-ish yogurt. By the time I drank all the grapefruit, the yogurt on its own was actually better (75% sugar). I think any other flavor would probably be pretty good, but I'd advise against ordering the grapefruit. I am always searching for boba places to try, and I'm so glad this is so close to where I work! Also, it's opened late so I can stop by after work also, yay! They make each tea fresh to order, and you also get a scan code as a type of stamp card! It is also in a really convenient location of Capitol Hill as it always has parking available most of the time. Located near Seattle central college/Bills on broadway, on Harvard St. They don't have a crazy variety, but decent quantity. They have selections from herbal teas, milk teas, flavored teas, decaf refreshers, slushies, etc. They also have toppings to add for .50 each, my favorite is the cheese foam! It's not salty at all which is what I love. I've only ever ordered the rose milk tea with cheese foam, regular sweetness but each time (I've been here 3 times already), the milk tea really tasted floral, and the milk doesn't overpower the tea! This is the taste I've always looked for and I'm so glad I've finally found a place close enough to get to on a regular basis :) I've recommended to a few friends and they all loved it! There isn't a lot of options for good bobatea shop in Capital Hill except Sharetea. I have been a Sharetea fan for the longest time, love the popcorn chicken at Oasis, and the toppings at CoCo Fresh Tea. But WAIT, Tea Addicts makes it better. Why? The drink is very fresh, they have a great variety of drinks. From DECAF refreshers, Blended Yogurt, Slushy, HERBAL TEA, flavor teas, and of course, Milk Tea. The interior layout of this place was very well design, you wait on the right side by the entrance to order your drinks, and then there are tables on the left side for you to sit down once you grab your drinks. This bobatea place is fairly big for capital hill, it's very clean and neat on the inside. The toppings are incredible, if you like cheese foam, this is the place to go. I was never a huge fan for any cheesefoam drinks, but this place completely changed my mind. I would have to say my fav drink here was the grapefruit flavor tea with cheesefoam, it was very light and refreshing, I was expecting the cheesefoam to be heavy and sweet at first, but I was wrong. The drink was delicious and I can honestly say I was addicted to it after couple sips. If you are a fan of having egg pudding or herb jelly in your drinks, definitely add that to your order. It adds a bit of sweetness to your drink so it gives a good balance if you want to reduce the level of sweetness in the drink. We ordered regular milk tea with boba and didn't like it :( The milk tea itself felt really watered down. I wanted to taste more of the tea, or the creaminess from the milk, but got neither. Especially since we got our drinks less sweet, they tasted pretty much like water. My friend thought the boba itself was so overcooked that it lost all its structural integrity, but I myself thought the boba was okay but I thought it could've been more sweetened. Overall, to me, it wasn't a good boba drink, especially for $5. I've tried other boba places with much better boba drinks priced at $4.25 or even lower. The place was cute though, so I gave them that. The service was also nice and friendly. There was a section in the store where you could draw on Post It notes and stick them onto the walls, and apparently they would pick one "winner" every week to go to their eternal wall of fame. I visited Tea Addicts for a tasting event prior to their grand opening. I ordered a Rose Milk Tea with both boba and pudding toppings. I had requested less ice and 50% sweetness, which was just enough sweetness to not be too much and also allow the rose flavor to come through more. I like that the rose flavor was definitive but not overpowering. It had a nice soft floral essence, and wasn't too "soapy" which is the common complaint with some rose flavors. About halfway through the drink, the milk tea part began to taste a bit watered down (probably from the ice melting, and also since there was less sugar, AND because the drink was HUGE!), so I really enjoyed having the pudding topping in there because the pudding itself was sweet and provided a nice balance of flavor. The boba were rainbow boba, which I believe are available for a limited time, just in time for Pride month :) We also were able to sample some of the popcorn chicken, which came in a regular flavor and a spicy version - I really liked the spicy one. The chicken was tender and not dry, with a pretty light coating and not overly greasy. There are these white trays that fit into the top of your boba cup with a slot for your straw (make sure you remove the lid to your drink so it fits correctly) and allow you to eat and drink out of one hand. My only comment is that I wish the straws were compostable - currently they use individually wrapped plastic straws which seem very wasteful. I guess there are customer concerns about hygiene (compostable straws do not come pre-wrapped?), but hopefully they are able to find a way to provide sustainable straws and also solve the cleanliness concern. read more
