Boba and Bubu... When I heard from Nadine C that they have Labubu and friends here I was just too curious to not see what they have. Tea Time Taiwan serves up many varieties of teas and today it was the Roasted Oolong for me just a simple sip to cool off from the summer heat. There was just a lady there and is very personable and nice who made my tea fast and perfectly. What I do love is they have lots of seating so that you're able to get work done or just relax and enjoy your tea. With the latest craze they now also carry various Labubu and friends including the newest ones as well along with stickers and beaded trinkets the time is not just tea but collectors shopping as well. Refreshing Peach Green Tea in Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii... It was another sunny, warm June day and I needed some hydration. I searched my Yelp app and found Tea Time Taiwan. I followed GPS and drove up a steep driveway, parked on the second level of a building, caught the elevator to the ground level, and entered the cute, air-conditioned shop. Service was very friendly. I believe it was a mother-daughter team. They spoke Chinese language to each other. I wasn't able to understand anything... LOL! I saw the display of Labubus and asked a few questions. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful! I decided to get one! I was encouraged to open the blind boxes there. Okay! It was a fun, exciting experience! I've seen many Instagram posts, so I knew a little about this trend. I also got a Peach Green Tea. It had little bits of fruit on the bottom. Boba- 10/10 probably the best bobas of all of Hawaii. Super soft and fresh bobas! Woohoo! Drink- 8.5/10 Oreo milk tea - it's a signature milk tea with Oreo bits in the drink. Service- 10/10 my bf ordered 75% sugar for me and when I got the drink it was totally not sweet enough for my preference. I went back into the shop and asked if she could add sweetener to it and she made me a new drink and even had me sample the new drink. It was way better! The owner had amazing customer service! If you want to enjoy the best cup of boba tea in Hawaii you'll have to stop here. I've tried boba from several spots but I'm always happiest when I sip from a cup of taro boba from here. Still one of my favorite spots for drinks. They have a sour plum lemonade that my husband and I both love! The milk tea and boba are pretty consistent but I have had times that the boba was way too soft and the drinks were much too sweet. The drinks seem to come out the best tasting when they are made by the owner. They also stopped serving their thick cut toast, which I'm really disappointed about because I use to come especially for that. This is one of the OG boba shops that has always been my favorite. Every time there's a new boba place, I try it but it's never better than tea time. They're the only place that's boba texture is just right and you can never go wrong with a winter melon tea latte from here. It's so cute inside with their many colorful chairs and their leafy backdrop. I get boba from here at least once if not twice every month and I think I'm addicted. I had a good experience at Tea Time. We arrived at night time. There was no wait since it was just us, and the service was fast. The staff were polite and answered all of our questions we had about the drinks. They have a large menu on the wall so you can see your options clearly. You also have the ability to choose your level of sweetness. I had a large strawberry smoothie with light sugar, and my husband had the taro tea with ice cream and regular sugar. Overall, we thought the drinks were okay. The prices were fair. It wasn't overwhelming or underwhelming, and it didn't taste bad. We probably just need to find a flavor we like. I ordered large Oolong roasted milk tea at 75% sweetness with mini boba. They had run out of regular boba as I went close to closing, which was to be expected with most boba places. The mini boba still had a good texture and still satisfied my boba craving. All their drinks are also reasonably priced. My drink was $5.75 ( large + boba). I think that's a decent price. hate to be that person but i really didn't like the drinks here. they made my roasted oolong milk tea out of powder and the boba was so mushy and overcooked. my friend's peach spring tea was so sweet even with lowered sugar level. the only positive was the kind lady that served us. she messed up my friends order when she ordered tea jelly and got boba instead. the lady kindly made her a new drink and adjusted the sugar further and let us keep the old one. maybe i'm just a snob but if you want a real milk tea this is not the place to go. they have an extensive menu so maybe the fruitier drinks are better but i don't think i'll be coming back. read more

I must admit that being a boomer, I'm not versed of the many choices of ordering boba drinks like the Gen X, millenials, and the Gen Z. Going to Tea Time Taiwan for the first time, I was somewhat intimidated, as I was amazed at the unlimited choices you have in placing an order. Lol, how can you make an easy decision on something that you know nothing about?! Bubble tea, also known as boba, originated in Taiwan in the 1980's and arrived in the US in the 1990's, but didn't get popular until the 2000's. Bubble tea normally consists of tea with chewy tapioca balls (boba or pearls) but can be made with other toppings. Bubble tea has many varieties and flavors and predominantly comes in two categories: tea without milk and milk teas, with tea flavors of black, green, oolong, or other as the base. Tea Time Taiwan, a family-owned restaurant and managed by Ivy Chiu, opened in Pearl City in Feb. 2014 that specializes in a huge selection of authentic Taiwanese drinks and desserts. This shop makes its fresh tea and boba every four hours and does not use powders or premade products that other shops do. In fact, Ivy is so passionate with this business that she travels to Taiwan twice per year to bring back the latest trends to HI. (Also note that Tea Time Taiwan opened its 2nd location at the Kapalama Shopping Center in Kalihi in Apr. 2020.) There's a process in ordering your customized drink: · Choose your drink flavor: sweet milk, ice tea, tea latte, smoothie, fruit tea, milk tea, or specialty. · Choose your size: medium, large or jumbo. · Choose your add-ons (50¢ each): tapioca, jellies, puddings, ice cream, foamies. · Choose your sugar level: extra 110%, regular 100%, less 70%, half 50%, light 30%, or none 0%. · Choose your ice level: extra, full, light, or none. It was not so simple to make these choices, as I was not familiar with the tastes of all the items nor did not know what I would like or not like (drink choices, flavors, and toppings too numerous to list). Thanks to Evan, as he asked me a number of questions to determine what he could suggest. We've had the following: · Wintermelon tea with non-dairy latte, size large, half small tapioca balls, half custard, half sugar level, and no ice. Wow, that was good and so refreshing on this hot day! The wintermelon had a mild and subtle sweetness to it, and I loved the soft and the perfect chewiness of the bobas, and the creamy custard. Thanks, Evan, I didn't have to think! Plus, there was a listed posting of five of their current popular drinks, which should assist in making an easier decision. · Spring tea, peach base, less sugar, coconut jelly. Thanks to Evan's assistance, he helped me concoct a very tasty and refreshing drink! Initially, I had wanted custard, but he mentioned that a better choice would be coconut jelly. This drink was fruity and had a light pineapple taste that I really liked. · Eggfles. These egg waffle desserts were introduced in Spring 2021 and are a perfect tasty snack, as the egg-shaped bubble waffle each had a filling of custard, azuki bean, or boba balls. It was interesting to watch how the eggfles were made in the waffle mold machine, as Evan "branded" each with its "Tea Time Taiwan" wording. Customer service was excellent! Ivy's mother and brother, Evonne and Evan, respectively, were in charge while we were there. Both were very friendly, accommodating, and spent time to answer my many questions to customize my drink to my preferences. Always smiling, they did not rush me to make a decision. The interior décor is cool, casual yet stylish, and trendy! There are varying sizes of wooden teak tables with cushioned and colored chairs and sofas to make you comfortable as you enjoy your boba drinks and desserts. It's clean, with bright white walls adorned with tastefully art décor. COVID requirements are in place: social distancing, tables and seats appropriately placed, facial masks, and hand sanitizer available. All staff is fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination required for customers to dine in. Hours of operation are Mon 12:30p-9:00p and Tues to Sun 10:30a to 9:00p. Free parking in their private lot that is shared with other businesses by driving up a ramp right next to the shop (before Midas) and taking the elevator down to the 1st floor. Free curbside parking in front or park in the Times Supermarket parking lot and walk down. Note that there is a $10 minimum for credit/debit card purchases. Tea Time Taiwan also participates in the Clover rewards program, so you just need to punch in your phone number when you make purchases. Learned a lot about bubble teas! Unfortunately, yet another chain that produces sugar water disguised as milk tea. I understand that if I think it is too sweet, I should order it with less sugar but I would rather have it taste like sugar than watered down tea and milk. This place is almost completely reliant on powder for their milk tea and flavored drinks. I really don't like how the sugar in their drinks overpower any other flavor. The one good thing about this place is they offer panda boba-- a mixture of black pearls and honey pearls. Their boba also has a good chewy texture. read more

They didn't fail on the tea I bought.... I decided to choose iced tea. I ordered Mom and dad the winter melon on regular ice with 50% and added honey tapioca. I ordered myself the jumbo "Mesona" ice regular with no sugar and mesona jelly... I am a very different kind of person with these drinks. I like no sugar and to my surprise I'm very pleased with the choice of mesona it was my first time trying it and it's very earthy organic taste to that tea. This was our first time coming here and the counter person was super friendly and helpful... definitely patient since it took me a while to look through the menu and order.. not to mention all the questions I asked, lol. I ended up ordering a medium Cacao Barry, Azuki Bean Eggfles, and a Ice Cream Homey Toast.. OMG!!! The Cacao Barry was sooooo delicious!! It literally tasted like a chocolate shake made with ice cream and the Azuki Bean Eggfles was light, crispy and perfectly sweet.. not overly sweet. The ice cream honey toast was warm, perfectly toasted and sweet.. the honey added a nice sweetness to the toast and Ice cream. My favorite spot to go get a smoothie. I know they're known for their tea but I just can't stray from ordering the Melona smoothie with lychee jelly. It's so refreshing and they make it so well. Not too icy, milky or too thick. It's just right and hubby loves their Li hing lemonade. He said it's the best on the island. If you do come, you have to order their eggffles. They are so darn cute and a tasty little snack to have with your drink. We also saw the owner, the lady with the red glasses on all of their drinks working. What can i say? TEA TIME NEVER DISAPPOINTS I think i've been inside this location like two times in my life. I normally order through delivery. The location itself is not too bad, it's somewhat crowded and very tight parking which is why i prefer delivery. But enough about that, THE BOBA PEARLS. immaculate tasting, and that's a big word to use haha. My boyfriend always orders a jumbo strawberry smoothie, it's his absolute FAVORITE ever and nothing can beat Tea Time. Me on the other hand I love wintermelon milk teas but Tea Time offers wintermelon latte's and i've never had this type before and it's not the best, i wouldn't get it again truthfully but their brown sugar milk tea is where it's at. I've been going to this Tea Time for years, and I'm only reviewing it now! I'll start with a caveat that boba lovers, myself included, frequent different boba shops for different drinks. There are a wide variety of boba drinks--iced teas, milk teas, smoothies, slushes, and a wide variety of toppings--large boba, small boba, brown sugar boba, crystal boba, jellies, cheese caps, and even azuki beans. To find the best boba spot, find recommendations from folks with the same taste for boba as you. As for me, I generally love a classic milk tea or iced tea with boba, and rarely crave a dessert-y drink like a brown sugar milk tea or anything with crazy sugary topping or a fruity drink (I can get cake, ice cream, or a piece of fruit if I want one of those!). Tea Time is now my go-to place for a simple, but refreshing and mildly sweet signature milk tea. I used to think all signature or classic milk teas tasted the same, but Tea Time's truly is "signature!" The black tea they use has a unique flavor that isn't flat. The boba is never tough at Tea Time! The Ugly Milk Tea is their version of the popular brown sugar milk tea, which I believe is the signature milk tea with brown sugar. Why would anyone want to mask Tea Time's wonderful tea flavors though? Very rarely do I crave a dessert like drink, but one time, I was craving halo-halo, or a taro milk tea with azuki beans, the closest thing to halo-halo. I enjoyed Tea Time's version of this drink. Tea Time has plenty of boba and jelly topping options, and the only local boba shop I know of that serves a jumbo size! Tea Time is also where I first heard of spring tea (a mild form of green tea), and it's pretty good here! I wish I could comment on the fruity drinks, but I rarely crave them (again, I'd rather eat real fruit than drink them most of the time lol). I miss Tea Time's plastic cups and being able to see my drinks, but their paper cups are customized and are cute, too. I'm surprised I don't visit Tea Time more, considering I drive by it every day, coming home from work! Head on out and get yourself a signature milk tea! We've come to this place several times and parking is not the greatest. There's limited street parking in front and a lot that you could walk from in the same plaza as Cattle company. It's not a far walk at all but there have been some instances were there was a homeless lady lying on the sidewalk that I had to wonder if she was alive...and another dude who obviously had mental health issues since he was trying to fight the air, that we've had to pass to get to this place. It's beyond the store's control I know but meh, there are other places on island to get boba. Also, the customer service could be a bit better.
