Toppings include almonds, granola cracker, fresh fruit, cheesecake, sprinkles, and many more. It's an adorable dessert stop and would recommend. It was packed when we went! We had dinner in the area and stopped by for dessert. Judy C. showed us this place a while back and we liked it. This place is always busy. People must love frozen yogurt. You grab a bowl, fill it with the soft serve of your choice and put on your toppings. It's charged by weight. It's $0.79 for an oz. When you check out, they put the bowl on the scale and they tell you how much your bowl is. Our bowl came out to 13.8 oz. and we paid around $11. The flavors they had today were vanilla, chocolate, coffee, yellow cake batter, strawberry, original tart, taro, lychee tart, Hawaiian Delight, Dole Whip, Samurai Blue Vanilla and Samurai Honeydew. We got the Hawaiian Delight and Dole Whip swirl topped with tiny mochi bits. Both of the flavors blended well. The Hawaiian Delight tasted like strawberry guava and on the sweeter side. This place is reminiscent of Yogurtland, Menchies etc. where there are several flavors to choose from and the toppings are self-serve. The flavors when we were there included Tart, Strawberry Shortcake, Lychee, Coffee, Taro, Blue Vanilla, and Cotton Candy. There are many toppings such as various fruits, cookie dough, mochi, marshmallows, brownies, nuts, and crushed Oreos. It's also one of the only frozen yogurt places on island so it gets very busy. The tables inside are usually full so it's best to eat outside or in your car. The parking can also be tough if you go during a busy time (like Friday nights). They have many flavors to choose from, many toppings to pick from... just be careful cause you don't really think about the price when filling your cup and next thing you know, cups overflowing and you're spending almost $50 on 3 people for just desert. Cherry on top is always packed with people... crazy busy even when it's near closing so be prepared to eat in the car because seats are very limited. It is self serve and line isn't usually long nor is the wait. It is a bit noisy in there due to the fact that everyone hangs out after getting their frozen yogurt. I had been to this self-service, soft-serve frozen dessert shop in the past, but i didn't get anything because it was so crowded and I didn't know if there were any dairy-free options. This time, the cozy shop wasn't that packed, so we got a chance to see all of the flavors and all of the toppings. We even got a seat inside! The Mango was my favorite flavor, followed by the strawberry. I was not a fan of the matcha and lychee. The lychee tasted very artificial. They have tables, but it fills up fast! Came to Cherry on Top on a Friday night, and I have never seen the parking lot this packed. I had to keep circling around to find a stall and finally found one after a bit. I'm so happy that there's still a frozen yogurt place that still exists, and the flavor and texture of the froyo here always hits the spot. I got the plain tart and samurai vanilla/honeydew. The plain tart is always the perfect balance of tart and sweet. They were doing 20% off this night, which was a pleasant surprise. I didn't see any advertisements about the deal. It was super crowded this night, so there was no seating inside. We just stood outside to enjoy our froyo, and it unfortunately started pouring. It's been a while since we came here and we decided why not since we were in the area and not completely satisfied from the meal we just had at OH My Grill. The 1st thing that I noticed and did not like was that they did away with the sample cups. This wouldn't be a problem if they always had the same flavors but they don't. This almost made me not order anything at all but I decided I would just get a small cup of the strawberry and original tart mix because I knew I liked that flavor from ordering in the past. My kids loaded up their cups, but also stuck with what they knew because they didn't want to try something new that they couldn't sample and regret it. I like that they offer pre packed toppings as well as self serve options. I would come back again for my usual frozen treats but would really like if they brought back the samples because that would make me want to come back more often to try the different flavors. Our go to froyo spot. They have the best froyo and toppings in my opinion. Use to frequent menchies in Kapolei but sadly they shut down. Lots of parking since it shares a parking lot with a lot of other stores. Only downside is it gets very crowded. Once upon a time, there were a handful of soft serve frozen yogurt (froyo) establishments that took the nation into a craze. While growing up in the islands, I recall Yami Yogurt, TCBY, and recently Menchie's and Tutti Frutti that sadly all closed. As a townie, I loved going to Ward with family and friends to have a cold and sweet treat. Last week I drove to Pearl City to celebrate a friend's birthday and during our meal I shamelessly blurted "Where are we going for dessert?" Several places were mentioned but after factoring in convenience and parking, it was agreed that we'd head over to Cherry on Top (CT). Located in Pearl City Gateway with well known businesses as Foodland Farms, McDonald's, Rokaru Shabu Shabu, and Petco, CT offers froyo where you customize your cup with a combination of flavors and an impressive selection of toppings. Just gotta love this location with ample free parking but we were in awe as we noticed CT was packed with so many people inside and outside their store. I appreciate the bright yet simple decor of CT. It was very spacious, inviting and upbeat with their heavy foot traffic. Luckily, 2 tables vacated as we entered and that was just right to sit our group of 9. We lucked out again as there wasn't a line so our group easily maneuvered their self serve station. For me personally, I don't like to mix sweet flavors and fruity combination so my decision was made when Dole Whip was the first flavor in the lineup. It's been YEARS since I last had Dole Whip. ***happy dance*** My other choices were taro and lychee to make it a trio of flavors. Although it's unconventional and clashing in my books, I spooned chopped peanut butter cups and topped it on my froyo. I was first in line of my group so I was ready to pay for my cup but a huge Mahalo to Allen N. for picking up our tab. Had I known ahead of time, I would have used the larger cup and pile my froyo higher! Hahaha... The froyo was so refreshing and absolutely delicious. The Dole Whip brought me back those road trips where I would take out-of-town guests around the island and make a pit stop at Dole Plantation. The taro was also delicious - so creamy with a subtle taro flavor that didn't have that starchy texture. The lychee was semi tart but still sweet - a good balance that had me spoon froyo into my mouth. My friends also enjoyed their froyo and realized I forgot to top my cup off with a maraschino cherry. No cherry on top for me. Awwwww....... Overall, a fabulous first visit where I'd be game for a return visit. CT resembles Yogurtland in California. Sadly, I'm a townie and rarely go to Pearl City. I don't see myself making a special trip to CT from town just for their froyo but wouldn't mind to make a pit stop for a cool treat should I be on that side of the island. read more

I've been craving froyo for so long, and I was finally able to make the drive out to Pearl City for Cherry on Top! It was so delicious and refreshing, and definitely hit the spot. I miss the Tutti Frutti in town. There's a Yoajung in town too, but it's not the same--at Cherry on Top, you get to create your own froyo bowl, which I love. You grab a cup, fill it with your choice of flavors and as much as you want, then head to the toppings bar to load up on candies, sauces, fruits, and more. Afterward, you weigh your cup at the register and pay by weight. I found that the original tart flavor makes a great base if you want to add toppings. Otherwise, I felt like the toppings overpowered the taste of other flavors I tried, like matcha and coffee. The lychee tart flavor was by far my favorite. Unfortunately, they don't give out sample cups anymore due to COVID, but all the froyo flavors I chose hit the spot regardless. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside.
