This is by far the biggest thing I miss about St. Mary's area. I used to come here multiple times a week :( Smoothies are amazing, my go-to is the passion fruit or the passion fruit mixed with mango, strawberry, and taro are good too. Add bubbles or the jelly pieces! They have excellent lunch and dinner combinations so I always take advantage of that. Crab ragoon is fantastic, not too much oil, a very light and fresh frying as is everything in this place. Hot and sour and wonton soup is very solid as well. The hot and spicy chicken is sautéed in a spicy sauce, that is neither too thick nor too spicy comes with peppers,onions, and broccoli too. I'm extra picky about rice and this place nails it. Sesame chicken, shrimp lo mein, and sweet snd sour chicken are all solid choices. Plus it's family run, the staff is super friendly. They have everything you could ever need set up: water, soy sauce, mustard, etc. My only complaint is the hours are weird. They close at 730 some nights and 830 others. Also they are not open on Sunday's and any day even close to a holiday they will have limited hours. If you get there at 8, you won't be able to sit staff will tell you carry out only. I feel they should really consider opening till 930 especially on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

On a recommendation, I went there for lunch today. The place is a little hidden in the back of the shopping center, but it's not too difficult to find. This was a rather strange place. It's as if you were eating at home a bit. I'll explain in a bit. When you walk in, you're not really sure where to go. Do so seat myself and wait for a server, or do I order at the counter and seat myself?? Turns out it's the later. You step to the counter, order, and then seat yourself if there is room. I say if because it's not the biggest place in the world. The place was pretty clean, so that's always a plus. The bathroom is a single use bathroom, but it was clean as well. Overall, it seemed fairly casual and nice. Now here is why I said it's like eating at home. You get your own utensils (plastic), you get your own drinks, you get your own napkins, etc... The only thing you don't do is get your own food. Do just like at home, if you don't get it you don't have it. Foodwise, it was pretty good, but nothing spectacular or anything. I had the General Tso Chicken and spring rolls. The chicken came with a done of white rice that was pretty good. The chicken itself was good, but again nothing spectacular. The spring rolls were the best part. They were very hot (temp not spicy) and pretty fresh tasting. The lunch portions were just about right, and came out pretty quick (under 5 minutes). The pricing was pretty reasonable. My chicken, sdpring rolls, and water were about $10. I would probably go there again, but not ast peak hours. We got here around 755pm. Their business hours posted on their door says they closes at 830pm. We came in and they told us "take home" orders only since they close at 830 and their kitchen is closed already. We still ordered and took it home. Food was OK. It wasn't the greatest. We had the beef soup with egg noodles and the beef they used is cheap. Same beef they use for beef & broccoli. I'm used to the soft corned beef type with tendons. Anyways, I would give it another try. Maybe it was just one of those not so good nights. 2nd try. Came back for lunch this time and the register girl is just plain RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FOR VEGANS OR PEOPLE WITH FOOD SENSITIVITY I really hate to write a bad review, but this place made both my wife and me immediately ill from overuse of MSG and cross contamination of vegetarian food with meat (probably pork.) My wife cannot eat any meat with red blood such as pork or beef due to a tick borne illness she's had for thirty years. She gets ill if food is cross contaminated with these two meats. Extreme MSG symptoms include nausea, headache, weakness, diarrhea, fast heart beat, sweating etc. Normally, I don't have a reaction to MSG, but there was so much in our brown sauce (we got with vegetables and tofu) that I can still taste it an hour later. My head aches. My wife is absolutely miserable in the bathroom right now. (I'm not making this up.) First, the positive. Very nice staff. Cheery. Phone ringing off the hook for pick up. The location is not great and still half the tables were full. This speaks well of the place. In addition, the food looked wonderful. Vegetables fresh. Spring rolls were good. Food very hot and fresh. The water was ice cold too which we liked. The food is cheap, very cheap. This is the only reason I did not give the place one star. Check all my other five star reviews on restaurants. I only write when I feel strongly. The bad on the food. Taste of the brown sauce wasn't there. Not even soy sauce could save it. Tofu was spongy. Tea was pretty good, but not the best we've ever had. Not strong enough. Dumplings looked great, tasted flat and dull. They had green dyed color to them. We didn't have any of their meat dishes so those may be better. Methinks if you are a foodie they won't be up to your standards. Strangely, this is a tea / Chinese / smoothie shop. We didn't try the smoothies, but they use a blender that is so loud you have to raise your voice to talk over it. My wife's immediate headache from MSG was worse when the smoothie making blender was on. I'm not going to return to this place for a second shot. Most of the time I'd do that. We don't tolerate getting sick after eating and the food ain't as good as it looks. If you have food sensitivities I'd think twice about eating here. Post Script: We found a remedy website for MSG poisoning and followed the Cream of Tartar remedy which immediately relieved our symptoms. Half tablespoon mixed with a cup of water did the trick. This little spot is hard to find, located just around the corner of Marshalls in what seems to be the ethnic hub of the area - San Souci Plaza. This cafeteria-style resto is a nice addition to the current ethnic food offerings in SOMD. Here at Teariffic, the service staff are very nice, courteous and the food was served hot, fresh and fast. The atmosphere is open, airy, clean and pleasant. Hungry for dim sum, this was the only place we could find this far out of DC. It opens at 10:30am, not typical for traditional dim sum, but this is southern Maryland after all. The dim sum offerings are good, slightly small portions and they are not made on site. I can't complain as it definitely was yummy. The tea and noodle dishes are delicious. I look forward to trying other things on the menu, especially the bubble tea! read more

Just some good average Chinese food. Atmosphere: Definitely leaves something to be desired, just some basic table and chairs. Seems clean at least, but not somewhere to bring a date. Price: Based on the quantity and quality of the food, I felt the $6.99 price-tag for my meal was very fair. It works like a cafeteria style, where you walk in and order, then sit down and are served your food. Don't be turned off though, the food is great! The food is typical Chinese selections, unless you go for some of the more traditional Chinese appetizers. These are great! We had some vegetable dumplings and shrimp and leek tarts. I think I'm done with this place. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and had sweet and sour chicken and General Tso Chicken. Both white meat dishes which sounds good, but the sweet and sour is very small pieces with significant breading and the General Tso Chicken is a much lighter coating of breading but the chicken was tough and chewy. Maybe this isn't even considered breaded, but there did seem to be a dusting of flour or something on the pieces. I have gone here several times and because of their reputation, I expect to like it more. But I'm always disappointed. I'm don't know how authentic it is, and I really don't care as long as it looks and tastes good. But really it was neither. The Sweet and sour is served as fried bites with a side of red sauce in a styrofoam cup. The General Tso Chicken is served in the sauce which had a sticky, stringy consistency. Another aspect of this restaurant I don't like is the lack of flexibility. The lunch specials are served w/ white rice and wonton or hot n' sour soup. Egg Drop Soup is $1.98 as a side item on the menu, exactly the same price as the other soups. But to substitute Egg Drop soup was $1.98, the same price as a unique order. I ate the wonton soup and despite the great ratings, I wasn't thrilled with the hard pieces of ground dark chicken in the wontons. Side of Teriyaki sauce, $1.35. Everything else is in packets on the condiment counter. I'll wait and go to Pei Wei when I get the urge for Chinese food that is freshly made, has a nicer appearance and better flavor. Teariffic is good, but not worth going out of your way for. The service is fantastic, and I bet they do great delivery. The food, however, was a little too bland for my tastes. I had the General Tso's Chicken, and unfortunately my tastebuds only started to wake up when I added a ton of Sriracha to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm as much in favor as the next guy of using food as a Sriracha delivery vehicle, but I don't think that should be its primary purpose. My review may also have been colored by the fact that the night before, I had a fantastic meal at Bollywood Masala. A little tricky to find, but I'm glad I found it. It's on the left side of the big shoe store if you're having trouble finding it. I ordered the Oolong Tea, Shrimp Dumplings and Beef Fried Rice. Their fried rice is probably one of the best I've eaten in a long time. Although I'm curious to how the pineapple one would taste as it is a very Chinese fried rice and not Thai, which is the usually pineapple fried rice. Regardless, I definitely will be coming back if just for the fried rice. The dimsum was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's a little on the pricey side so I probably wouldn't get them again. The tea was good and hot, but not strong enough for my taste. I always get hot tea at restaurants so this place is no different. I really like how relaxed it environment is, and all of the staff is really nice once you get them talking. My only gripe with this place would have to be the portion size. I am aware they went through a recent price increase, so the priced may have been great before. I will definitely visit this place the next time I'm hungry and in the area. So this review is mixed because my husband won't write his own. His: 5 -star - he LOVES the General Tso's here. We met in St. Louis, MO and lived 5 minutes to about 20 Chinese places (not kidding), he always said while they were good they didn't compare to Teariffic. I kinda think it had to be a one time thing cuz the guy with us got fried (not sesame though) chicken and he loved his too. Simply fantastic. Every time I visit Southern MD I eat here. The food is as fresh as it gets. I think I've tried every Chinese place in the area, and this is right up there with the best of them, if not the very best. I've sampled quite a few dishes here such as lo mein, chow ho fun, chow mei fun, etc. All were excellent. The portion sizes are very generous. I've found the service to be very good too.
