This is a lot of food. Best Item: I think the broccoli poppers are underrated it's broccoli and cheddar coated and fried. Perfect coat btw. Food was very lackluster. Ordered from them twice, and each time I was given reheated chicken in my hibachi dish. My kids and I couldn't even chew it because it was dry and hard. Three stars because my husband really enjoyed it, and he is more the hibachi connoisseur than I am. We ordered take away on a Friday night, the place was busy, so I thought that was a good sign. The restaurant area was pretty clean, a few people standing around waiting for their orders. Staff were average friendly, nothing really outstanding. Restaurant area was average clean, tons of parking in the adjacent parking lot. OK, my review and opinion on the food we got is not so good because: The overall temperature of the food was lukewarm/room temperature. We only live five minutes away from this place so I expected our meals to be hot-ish. I ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi. What i got was a bowl of hibachi/soy sauce soup with veggies and meat on top. The flavor was good, a decent portion of both shrimp and chicken, more veggies than I expected, but everything was seriously swimming and sauce. Gross. I also thought the portion of rice was small. As I said, my husband enjoyed his. He said he would order from this place again. I might, but I'd order something totally different. Never been inside & always get the shrimp Hibachi lunch (with the veggies). The food is always smaaackin. They're heavy with the sauce and the shrimp and veggies are always cooked well. Horrible costumer service. The workers always give the wrong sauce to go with food. I ordered mozzarella sticks and was given seafood sauce instead of marinara. I called to make an order and the girl jumped down my throat about how many spring rolls come in a set when I asked for three orders of spring rolls. When I told her I was aware that they come in threes that's why I asked for three orders of them she made a noise like she was smacking her mouth and got smart again! I then asked to speak with someone else the next girl acted scared like she didn't want to take my order. They will secretly tip themselves on the pad as well when you go to pick up your food. I am a fan. I love deliciouness and I found some deliciousness here. Granted, not everything is great. Their biscuits are to be skipped. They are a waste of carbs. The combination of foods is interesting as stated by Rob. But I disagree with sentiment that it is somehow a negative. I enjoy variety and there is a good mix of foods. Spicy Chicken: You have to order this in advance... like 15 minutes in advance. It is not on the menu as far as I know but I asked for it and got it. That taste pretty good. Regular fried chicken: Not bad. It is a fair alternative to KFC and Popeyes. I enjoy Popeyes the most and would rate this next in line before KFC. KFC does have the best spicy wings though. Biscuits: Pass... they are dry and unflavorful. Thai Panag curry: This was a pretty good dish. I prefer it than the stuff at Thai Inter (I have not been to Thai Inter in a long time.). I have had far better Panag but this is good for the area. Thai Green curry: Not bad but not great. It needs more flavor. I think they were short on the green curry paste or something. Roti and curry appetizer: Absolutely delicious! My favorite dish by far. That sums up my experience at this location. I am really in the middle of A-OK and Yay! I am a fan. 3.5 is adequate. 'Nasty'? Robert, come on. Scott, how could you rate a place 1 star when you said it was ok and would recommend it? Fix your rating and try the Roti appetizer... I had the teriyaki chicken and fried rice and it was actually great. The food was fresh. The shrimp on the grill also appeared to look fresh. I would say that this establishment is worth a try and a review on yelp. There's worse places in Lexington park with better ratings and reviews. I also challenge this establishment to work on the dishes that people complained about and to reach out to them to come back and try it again for free. One last thing. This place has really gone downhill. Used to be a solid 4-star place. But the last few times we be gone, the food quality has dropped and the price for all menu items have gone up almost $2. Wouldn't mind as much, if the quality and portion sizes remained the same. Unfortunately, a steak hibachi is now $14 and you get a small scoop of rice and literally 5 small tough piece of steak (1/2 of what the size it used to be). The quality of the vegetables has suffered as well. At $14, your better off spending a couple more dollars and going to Asahi or Okada, where the quality and portions are significantly better. There's just no reason or justification to go here anymore. read more

The 411: this is a cheap restaurant that serves a variety of Thai, Chinese and Japanese inspired dishes. It's mother dish, fried chicken, is very good and cheap. The rest however, is made better elsewhere. I've had the fried chicken, the green curry and the pad Thai. The only food I actually liked was the chicken. The chicken came with a biscuit that wasn't special but it wasn't bad. The green curry was bad, to be honest. There's a window to the kitchen at this restaurant and the chicken/veggies that went into the curry were all boiled in water and then smothered in a slimy "curry" sauce. Very unappetizing. The pad Thai was also very unexciting as well. Very bland and was served with lettuce instead of bean sprouts and lime and chillies. The chicken, however, was pretty delicious. It was crispy outside and moist inside. It reminded me of a mild Popeyes breading. The side I chose with the chicken was collard greens. They tasted canned. I would recommend a different side. Bottom line: don't come here for anything besides the chicken or anything fried that has chicken involved. They also served livers and gizzards that I didn't get to try. Craving Asian food and having tried a couple of restaurants in the area, I decided to give this one a shot. I ordered orange chicken. The chicken was bland; it had an orange flavor to it (duh), but really nothing else. The rice was also very bland, but being steamed white rice I've come to expect this. However, the place can certainly stand to put curtains or blinds or something. It was 5:30pm and all the tables were in direct sunlight. TO make matters worse, seemed like the AC was running low or something. It felt like a sauna. I had kind of a wild ride with this restaurant. My brother likes it so I went with him the first time and got yellow curry. That was a disaster: watery and flavorless, the chicken was dry, the veggies were mushy, I couldn't finish it. I expected that to be the end of the story, but then someone who was giving me a ride wanted to stop there and I felt rude complaining since they were doing me a favor, so I got hibachi steak, and to my surprise that was actually really good. I thought for a second maybe I'd just gotten the one bad dish. Nope. Ate there a third time, got hibachi chicken this time, and it was slimy and fatty and generally unappetizing. This location would push into a 4 star if their customer service improved. I've never found their cashiers to be friendly by any means. Their food is what gives this location a 3 star. Agreeing with some of the other reviews, their AC tends to suck during the summertime, which makes this location lose a star. It's very unfortunate that I don't feel comfortable enough to sit in and eat during the summer time due to the worries of overheating. Food isn't amazing, but I don't think I've ever had a truly bad meal here. I come here often. I feel it's slightly overpriced- I can get cheaper asian food at several places close by that tastes similar, but I'm in this shopping center often so I come here. Tables are always dirty. No napkins at the table, you have to bring them yourself. Sometimes they give you utensils when they drop your food off, sometimes they don't. I end up just grabbing everything at the counter because I don't know what they'll do. And I gotta say, this place DESPERATELY needs some sort of server uniform. The cashiers that take your order and drop your food off at your table are allowed to wear whatever they want. Literally. And they're young adults, so instead of dressing in appropriate work attire, you get guys in filthy, stained white T-shirts, basketball shorts, and untied tennis shoes handing you your food (gross). One time the girl at the counter was wearing a low-cut ripped belly shirt with no bra and ripped jeans (which kind of made me lose my appetite a bit, and I'm a young woman. Can't imagine how male customers feel). Was shocked the first time I saw it, but after coming here for so long that appears to be par for the course. Gives the place a very low class feeling. STICK WITH THE GOLDEN CHICKEN! I'm usually against places, especially Asian, that try to sell several different Asian ethnic cuisines in one place since that would not typically happen in an authentic Asian restaurant. But the family wanted to try this out. We (4) happened to order a dish from each ethnicity represented: Thai yellow curry (Thai), miso soup (Japanese), General Tso's chicken (chinese-american), and the Golden Chicken tenders meal (American, I guess - since it came with fries and mac and cheese). omg! OIL! The curry and the general tso's was about 60% oil. I am not exaggerating and I will post a pic when I get a chance. You literally could stick a spoon in there and have it fill up with oil and have tons more to go back. I could barely eat a quarter of the meal neither could the other. (The kids had a lot of fun seeing how much oil they could pull out of it with a napkin or a spoon. So at least the rest of the meal was entertaining.) The review on the miso soup was that it was super hot and had a strong fish taste. We all ended up helping finish the golden chicken meal - which was a really good deal for the price. It could easily feed 3 people. And, it was yummy! Surprisingly, not oily at all - in fact we used it to get rid of the oil taste and feel. I would only go back here for their chicken. And that is the only reason it gets 2 stars and not just 1. I would actually go back to this restaurant...but JUST for their Golden Chicken. I guess that's a lesson learned - when a restaurant names themselves Golden Chicken, and it's on the menu..stick with that! read more

Man this place has gone downhill faster than a runaway tire. I just came back from lunch and my dish of mixed veggies and shrimp was the worst ever. The rice had hard kernels mixed in with the fresher rice and the shrimp tasted and smelled old and i was not able to finish it. So instead of complaining to the management, I take my rant to Yelp and hope others see this and jump ship to somewhere else. During lunch, a coworker suggested trying it again and I will admit that the hibachi to go has grown on me. I've gone a few times over the last few weeks. I have been there to eat and am heading back tonight. This place is very reasonable priced chinese/asian food and for the price you pay the food is a great bargain and tastes good. Personally, I wont go back to Asahi again, with their ridiculous prices. The serving size was perfect for me on the Steak and Rice meal, which was like $8.00 at the most. My daughter who is extremely picky got the steak and rice meal as well and we both gave it thumbs up. As I havent tried everything on the menu, it goes without saying that you can expect somethings not to taste as good as others, but hey for the price, you get what you pay for. Ive phoned in a few Take Out orders and came in to order take out a few times. Every time I try this place I kick myself knowing that I could cook a better meal. Sometimes going in with a group of coworkers adds peer pressure. No matter if I phone a order or order in person I ALWAYS end up waiting. Its not a big deal to wait but sometimes Im limited on my time and don't want to wait 15-20 minutes for my Tenderloin and Rice!!! When ordering for my group I ask them to mark the containers so they can be identified at the point of delivery saving the confusion of whos dish is whos and what dish is this steak or tenderloin? The request seems to be a tall one. This place seems to always be busy but I still cant figure out why. read more

This is by far my preferred place for quick Asian food. I have not tried everything on their eclectic list of appetizers but the items I have were good to great, especially the Roti. The lo mein special dish is less than $8 with tax but you get a drink and two meals worth of food (if you can make yourself stop eating it). On a rare occasion I will get the chicken tender meal. The quality of the fried chicken is much better than any other fast food option in the area and it comes with 6 tenders (full tenders, not nuggets). Again, plenty to eat. I didn't mind the biscuit too much. They are plenty good for when you don't want to make them yourself and you don't have time to drive up to a Bojangles'! read more

Again, it was alright for the price but not exactly what I would call "good" either. About an hour later, me and my boyfriend were both making b-lines for the bathroom. We stopped in on a Sunday evening, after our unfortunate experience at Okada Japanese Steakhouse. My husband just wanted some orange chicken with fried rice and a drink... advertised on their menu for $6.99. I went to the restroom while he placed his order, and after I returned he informed me that it was almost as expensive as Okada, and I was confused..so I looked at the receipt. They charged him for the combo meal, and an additional order of chicken fried rice. I went to the woman at the register and explained to her that he only wanted the combo meal, that we didn't want the order of chicken fried rice. Perhaps if there wasn't such a language barrier she would have been able to understand what he was ordering. I explained we did not want it, nor would we pay for it. She then brought another woman over, presumably the manager, who only spoke English slightly better than she.... The woman tried to argue with me and was very reluctant to take the chicken fried rice off the bill... even though we didn't order it, and it hadn't even come out yet. She said, "We don't want to waste our food"... Um, well, then perhaps you shouldn't operate a restaraunt in America without first learning the language. Finally she removed the item from the bill, and we continued to wait for his orange chicken. The menu clearly states that it comes with fried rice and a drink. Well, when we got home and he sat down to eat, we noticed it was steamed white rice and frankly, the food was not very good. We will not return here either. I used to really enjoying a meal at Golden Chicken. Food was always consistent and reasonably priced. I have not been there in a while and stopped by Sunday around 1:30. There was one person ahead of me, after I arrived a few more people entered. I decided to order a chicken special with carb up sides including Mac n cheese, onion rings, mashed potatoes. The sides were prepared and sat on the counter for over 25 minutes. Almost everyone who had come in after me received their food before I did. Not sure why it took forever to get fried chicken at "golden chicken". Food was poor quality and has really gone downhill. Staff did not seem to care about customer service. They were very short staffed but could not manage the few customers there. If you really want chicken do yourself a favor and pass this spot. read more

My son first went when they just opened. He came home and swore he would never eat there again. A year or so has passed and we decided to try it again at a the suggestion of my sons buddy. He swore the teriyaki bowl was money and claimed it was his favorite. My first impression when walking in was "this is a nice dump"! The place had style potential but the layout was not really thought out and not very practical. The three of us ordered Teri bowls to be safe. Now, I spent the last 8 years in Hawaii and the Teri bowl can be found everywhere and they are all really great. In fact anything teriyaki, especially chicken, is a real treat in Hawaii. I don't have high standards though. In the end, i just want something that tastes like food. Well the Teri bowl here tasted like old lizard with some used motor oil drizzled over it. Honestly it tasted like and had the consistency of dirty carpet! The rice was dry and immediately started to battle the chicken for possession of the teriyaki! Both warriors died on the battlefield that day leaving the teriyaki behind to morn this tragedy alone. A real disgusting treat! read more

This is my boyfriend's favorite place to eat. He loves the hibachi chicken or shrimp with vegetables drowning in a pool of yumyum sauce. I've grown to like it too after making some adjustments. This is a place where you have to dodge a few dining landmines. I like to think we've got it down to a science and the golden chicken defeats us no longer. One tip is to call in your order in advance. We place a carry out order when we're on the way home (15 minutes or so away) to avoid the wait. You must do this if you want hibachi or you will wait forever. Secondly, be careful when ordering combos or asking for substitutions. As noted by a previous reviewer, the staff speaks limited English and can't always understand...English. To put it in perspective, we once asked for fried rice instead of white rice and got both. And were charged for both. I usually stick to white rice because the fried rice isn't up to par, it's just white rice with soy sauce. No fried egg or veggies added to it. My home made fried rice is better and I'm not even ethnically qualified to say that. Also was defeated by the chicken the night I tried the eggrolls. Eggrolls were not good at all. read more

Recently moved here from San Diego and it's been a mission finding good cheap food (heck even the more expensive restaurants in this area has been disappointing). Came upon this place recently when my bf and I couldn't decide (as per norm) on what to eat and this has quickly become one of my go to places for a quick bite. The food isn't amazing but it's good and I like that I have options..do I feel like Thai or some fried chicken? Maybe a rice bowl instead? They have a little bit of everything I love. I haven't tried the sushi but it looks like basic sushi (nothing fancy). If you go for the fried rice be aware that it really isn't fried rice, it's regular rice tossed in a thick soy/teriyaki sauce..which is ok with me. There's a few Thai options as well (like curry and drunken noodle; both were good) as well as a random assortment of appetizers. The interior and service isn't anything to write home about (when I order I half expect the cashier to roll her eyes at me) but I don't come here for the ambiance or to shoot the sh*t with the workers, my goal is to make my belly happy and this place does just that. My bf says I'm too generous with my "ratings" of places so I took away two stars for the overall service/interior, but still is on my list of quick food fixes in southern Maryland. read more
