Mitchell came to my home and we spent hours designing a system including not only all of the typical stuff such as door and window sensors and motion detectors, but also glass break monitors and water alarms for the laundry room and sump pump areas. Mitchell did not "sell" any of this stuff to me. I asked for it and we designed an excellent system together. The reason that I am writing the review today is because this is the first time that I have spoken to Mitchell in over two years. I received an alert on my control pad that a battery was low and I didn't know which device needed the new battery. I called Mitchell on his cell phone. He picked up on the second ring. I had the battery in a drawer and he identified the device and walked me through the battery change over the phone. This tells you a couple of things: 1. The equipment that Mitchell sold to me over 2 years ago works without issue. I literally have had not spoken to him in over 2 years because I have NEVER had a problem. My big problem today was that I needed a new battery. I'm OK with that. 2. Mitchell answers his phone. He is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Mitchell is a good guy. He knows what he is doing and he sells good stuff. I recommend him without hesitation.

While I was waiting for the technician to arrive, I fiddled with the settings and ended up resolving the issue on my own. What really stood out to me was the honesty--both Mitchell and the technician could have easily said I needed new equipment or upgrade or unnecessary work, but instead they were supportive and completely upfront. 2 of the 3 buttons broke down on my 20+ years old intercom system so I called the manufacturer who…read morereferred me to Canal Alarm. I called Canal Alarm to make sure they had the parts before physically making a trip down. While at the shop, I asked the shopkeeper if they sold the wires connecting the buttons behind the panel, in case I broke the wires while replacing the buttons. The shopkeeper was very nice: although they did not normally sell wires, he cut me some for free. I think he was sympatric toward me because I told him I was teaching myself how to repair the intercom for the very first time - he explained to me the buttons were usually the first culprit and the speaker the second but both were easy to replace. On my way leaving the shop, I double-checked with the shopkeeper that I didn't need to shut down any power to perform the replacement . . . it was reassuring to know the repair should be an easy/fairly safe job that I would not be on a high risk to electrify myself (just kidding). As for the repair, it was indeed fairly straightforward; I did break one of the wires so the free wire from the shopkeeper came handy. While replacing the buttons, I also realized that I did not hear the speaker making any sound - perhaps it was time to visit Canal Alarm again to buy the new speaker.
