Stood by the desk, someone asked if I needed help, I said I had a 1:30 with Micheal, then was told to sit upfront and he'd come check with me. 20 minutes later, still sitting in the front when a walk-in came in, someone went to go ask Micheal and he said 20-30 minutes and he'd be with him. So I walked back to talk to him and he was deep into coloring someone else's hair, gloves on and everything. So I asked if I still had my appointment, he said "Oh yeah," then said he'd help me in a little. He came and grabbed me finally, then immediately started accosting me about how it's my fault I didn't walk over to him. I don't live here, I don't know who he is so how could I? He continued to accost me the whole cut, lecturing me how it's my fault I had to wait, he even said he saw me in there. 3-5 minutes into the cut he asked if I wanted product. I was so confused, he hadn't done anything I wanted so I asked "are you done?" He said yes, so I repeated what I wanted, then he told me no, he wasn't going to do that and then continued doing what I didn't want for 15 more seconds, then asked how I wanted to pay. My hair is so uneven and is completely fucked up. It's so uneven and he missed parts of my hair... He also works at Scotch and Scissors apparently and tried to get me to go there and told me it'd be $65 there instead of $45 at Village 9. $65 for a 3 minute cut while getting accosted and told he wouldn't cut my hair like I asked? This man is a criminal. I really wish one of the nice ladies at Village 9 would've responded to my inquiry for a cut, they would've been head and shoulders above him.

I had not been here in years so I thought I'd check their availability. Ashley was so nice. She listened to what I needed. The shampoo chairs are heaven. Ashley also did my wash. She's been here for years. She's very professional and honest. Pricing is very reasonable here. They also offer online booking. This time I booked my next appointment and was pretty confident that I could commit to that date and time.

I do fork the extra for my son's hair because he hasn't teared up since I started taking him here. His hair is done nicely every time except the side burns are usually uneven. His hair doesn't get washed or styled (he usually heads home to the shower anyways). He is covered in chopped hair when he leaves. I opted for the "Deva Treatment" for curly hair that included a dry cut, wash and deep conditioning, then styling. The care that went into the cut and showing me how to style it moving forward was very much appreciated. I recommend the treatment as a first visit but future visits can only be the dry cut (making it only just more than double what I would normally pay ‍). Also, it took about 3 hours for the cut, wash, deep conditioning, & styling...another reason to only do the dry cut in the future. I'm not really sure I can justify the cost too much to return but I'm also not sure I can say that I've ever loved a haircut like I do this one. Four stars is mainly for price. Five stars for everything else.

I will stick to the facts:…read more Been going to this salon for 1 year. Constantly some sort of issue. 1. My scheduled appointments NEVER start on time. Always start 15-30 minutes late. 2. No pricing is ever listed! No pricing board displayed, no social media or website either. Very sketchy. The pricing changes every time I go in. Example: I was told $185 , then they changed it to $195 for the same services. Another example: my services totaled $195 but I didn't have time for a cut and blow dry but she still charged me $175. If a blow dry is $40 and a haircut $20, then it should have been $135. So, they are not transparent about pricing. 3. Hair stylist tells me every time I sit in her chair I should come back for highlights later because she thinks I can go longer. That is not for her to say. I like my highlights done every 8-10 weeks because I don't like too much regrowth. I tell her this every time and she will be condescending towards me , "ok you are the boss". I clear my schedule in advance for my highlights so it's almost offensive and wasting my time for her to think I can keep rescheduling and coming back weeks later to have my highlights touched up. I am the client yes, but no need to be condescending or tell me what to do with MY HAIR. 4. I overheard a conversation between two stylist about a customer that did not like. They didn't know what to charge the client because she walked out with hair wet (which is her right to do that). Stylist came across as also judging her for not paying to have a blow dry. 5. Last time I had highlights done it was NOT quality work and looked like I had not had them done but was still charged. I will provide a picture of my hair the day after she did my highlights to show how much hair she missed.

The owner responded right away even though it was after hours. If you park in the parking lot, you have to walk down the stairs and go to the left - they're right below the Mexican restaurant, and you will pass a few other places before you get to them. The salon itself has a very cool beachy and modern vibe. It's laid out nicely and very clean. I felt like even though I wasn't able to give Lauren a whole lot of direction during our consultation, she was really able to read between the lines and interpret what I was getting at. My thick hair looks super healthy and doesn't feel heavy anymore, and she didn't even use a razor to thin it out as most people want to. Lauren knows her stuff!! And my husband even noticed the difference in my hair - that's HUGE. I also love the variety of haircare lines they carry but not in an overwhelming way - as Lauren put it, they carry their favorites. I got the impression they take a lot of pride in what they present to their clients and are not there to oversell you on a ton of stuff you don't need, just what will work for you. If you go because of this review, let me (and them!) know - they have a great referral program that gets you 10% off, but I'm not sure if you need to present the card they gave me. As it is now, Saturdays and weekday nights are near impossible to book with her and thats with weeks notice in advance. However, I will perform my Yelp duties and post my review. I've already been putting it off for a couple months to keep Maddie to myself, but that's against what Yelp stands for, so I must post kicking and screaming. Maddie is: Awesome. You want full highlights? She's done 3 colors for me to give a natural look. THREE. And she hand paints my baby-fine hair in front without putting it in foil since its more delicate. The cut? Fantastic. She's fixed me up with a manageable, but modern cut. The fiance used to go next door to Roosters, and I convinced him to give Maddie a try since he'd complain after every cut. He continues to go to her...which is huge, because he hasn't been happy with any cut in years. To get to Waves, park at the top parking lot (near Walgreens) and take the stairs or elevator down to the street level. Waves is a small salon which I love, and only has a few chairs which is much more pleasant in my opinion. Waves doesn't have the long line of chairs and craziness going on. Its intimate and much more personal. I love Maddie, she does amazing work especially with color and is one of the best I've seen with my "problem" hair.
