I took my twelve string electric guitar in because some areas of the frets near the headstock were dead and it was useless. I wasn't sure what the problem was, but they figured it out almost immediately. The guitar tech (maybe Bob?) took it in the back room and fixed it in about ten minutes, maybe less! While he was doing that, one of the salesmen and I were talking about unrelated items (sound issues at concerts), and he was answering my dumb questions - in other words, he was keeping me entertained with small talk. I cannot speak highly enough of those people. I don't go to their store a lot because I don't need to buy a lot anymore. But every time I do, I have no trouble getting waited on by knowledgeable and friendly people. They aren't pushy - I always have to approach them rather than them hounding me, and that's the way I like it. ~Greg read more

It's like pulling teeth to get help here, they probably won't say hello or anything when you walk in. The manager isn't any better he is usually conducting personal business while on the floor. Last time I came in I walked around while employees played guitar and talked to each other. Honestly I dread when I have to come in for these reasons. So if you want to be treated like you don't belong come on in. Sweetwater is better and it's sad when a shop states and states away seems to care more than my local family owned woman ran business. read more

Oh the hours I have spent with Ted Brown. Going back to my first years playing guitar, these guys and Music Machine have been my go to for strings, song books, and tips from fellow guitar pickers. The service is always helpful but not pushy, and if they don't know they will find out. Great selection no matter what style of guitar you play. If you don't play guitar, they have about a billion other instruments you can take a whack at. I even saw a couple really nice Celtic style harps here. Awkward and EXPENSIVE! Walk in, no one says hello or offers help. Can't get to the back of the store without walking around everyone blocking the walking space. Then we finally find what we're looking for on our own, only to book it out of there. They have things marked up so high, if it's because it's professional grade, then I expect better. A mic boom for a desk, involves a bar, a spring, another bar, and a clamp. THEY WANTED OVER $20 for the cheapest one. Checked out the lights. I've been pricing lighting for lasers and have regularly found lasers with more options and $75 less than these guys are asking. EVERYTHING has a sticker on it as if it's on sale but the prices are still insane. Won't be back here, I'm a shopper not a victim. Also getting the boom AND other accessories like a pop filter and more FOR UNDER $15 as a combo! These guys wanted more than $20 for the cheapest version with absolutely nothing. Everything and everyone can undersell these guys. Idk how they maintain a clientele unless they don't mind throwing away money. I care though. read more

I've worked with TB over the years and they always impress me with their ability to come through with whatever I need. Our church was recently finishing a sound remodel and we had a few "smaller" items that we needed to complete the set up. I emailed Bill with our list and with in an hour he replied and let me know that they had everything we needed. They pulled all the items and set them aside for us and we're happy to help when I had to change/add a few things. I've worked with their guitar and drum techs in the past and have always been impressed with their willingness to answer questions and provide great customer service. I live in Walla Walla and will gladly drive the hour to work with Ted Brown over our local store. Better selection, better service. read more

This place should be a four or five star place but for inconsistent staff sometimes leaving a foul taste in my mouth upon visiting. This is a top notch music store for the Tri-Cities by all accounts (doesn't compare to guitar shops in Portland and such - but it is apples and oranges due to population). I've had very knowledgeable staff show me what I wanted to see and answer the questions I had, and I've had a couple of the staff seemingly talk down to me or show off their instrument skills while I just wanted information Great, now I have to listen to you shred because I wanted to know what the difference was between two loop pedals. We've been coming to Ted Brown for the last 10 years. The staff is friendly and helpful. The instrument repair department does a good job, we've used them 4-5 times on saxophones and guitars. They can get just anything music related products you need. Their prices are comparable to online stores so we make a point to come here and support them. Our children have taken (guiar, drums and saxophone) lessons here as well and the instructors are top notch. I'm very thankful we have a music store like Ted Brown here in the tri-cities. read more

I feel like most of the staff here are helpful and friendly. They have a decent selection of music equipment new and used. I haven't felt rushed by sales people trying to sell me stuff, but am always approached by someone asking if I need any assistance. I did watch a customer narrate / mime the Stairway to Heaven scene from the movie Wayne's World to the amusement of his friends. I think it's both cliche and compulsory. All in all it's a good store and I'll keep going back for my gear. read more

Do not have your guitars set up or worked on at this store!!! I went to the store to have new pickups and wiring harness installed in my guitar. I furnished everything, pre-wired wiring harness with PIO caps, custom wound pickups, new Gibson knobs for the pots, even a new strings to have it strung with!! All they had to do was to pull the guts out put a new harness in and solder in the pick ups!! They said there " guitar guy" would have it done in a few days. 10 days later I called to see if it was finished. It was and I could come and pick it up at any time, awesome!! I was a little bit shocked at the $240 bill but hey I had a professional put the stuff in, right? I open my guitar case and there she was. What's this, The knobs to the pots were a half-inch at least from the deck of the guitar, WTF!! I let them know immediately that this was not acceptable and that I wanted it fixed. Oh yes sir will get it fixed no problem! Three days later I get a call to come pick up my guitar, yay!! I open the case and yes the knobs were down lower next to the deck of the guitar. Not perfect but acceptable. That night after work I took my baby out of its case, plugged her in, wait a minute! And this is what I saw. Pick up rings not mounted correctly and pick ups not aligned evenly with strings. My action was so high I could've used it as a bow. Bridge mounted backwards so in the Intonation screws facing pickups and last but not least wiring harness bridge tone pot solder broken when placed in cavity shoddily!!! What a deal and all that only cost me $240!! read more
