Years later Teddy Bear Daycare continues to provide our children the most amazing care. We are now sending our third child to Ms Luz and Mr Chris! We have had such a wonderful experience with this daycare. The staff is incredibly kind, patient, and truly caring with the children. My kids are excited to go each day, and we've seen so much growth socially and developmentally since starting here. Teddy Bears daycare has been wonderful for our child! We started several months ago around 9 months old. They are caring, family centered, kind and our child loves going there each day. She comes home happy, (healthy) tired and is learning from all the kids and teachers there. They provide meals, milk and snacks daily for her which is a huge relief for me as a mom! My daughter started at Busy Bears at 4 months (was at KinderCare for a month after I returned to work) and she'll be turning 2 soon. She loves her teachers and we're really sad to leave (but alas, moving cross country). I echo the other reviewers and thought I'd add a few things. Open: Aside from stat holidays, Busy Bears is almost always open! Through the multiple snow and wind storms this past winter (and spring), it was closed 1 additional day (whereas I think the public schools closed in total 7 days?) and that was a precaution for power outage. They have a good backup system for teachers that are away or ill. Also have great hours (7am-6pm). Both my husband and I work full time so this was a great plus for us. Projects: With an at home day care, you get a wider mix of ages, which means more limited activities and 'projects' when they're infants not moving around yet, but great of observing and learning from the older kids (and interacting with them once they're mobile). For example, while the older kids may do art projects more often, don't expect that from your infant (which, compared to KinderCare where your child is likely in a class of just infants, I found the teachers there actually spend the time and resources to do a weekly art project - not sure how it's done when my kid couldn't sit on her own... but I was also paying close to double the cost...). Food: Once your kiddo turns one (unless you tell the teachers otherwise and want to send in food), all (breakfast and lunch) meals and snacks are provided! They do enjoy sugary treats and popsicles on special occasions (eg. a kid's birthday or holiday party), again unless you let the teachers know otherwise, and the kids get a small cookie when they get picked up, but otherwise the meals and snacks are healthy and well balanced (much better than I'd have the time to prep) and they send out a monthly menu at the beginning of each month. Outside: At both the Teddy Bears and Busy Bears location, they have outdoor play space weather permitting. Note that they won't bundle up the kids to have them play outside when it's cold so they barely have outside time in the winter/spring if you care about that (I didn't). Naps: Again because of the mixed ages, they try to get everyone on the same nap schedule as soon as possible. This meant my daughter transitioned to just 1 nap by pretty early on (on the weekends, she'd still do 2 naps at home), but she seemed ok and flexible on that front. Bonus is she now typically naps ~2 hours after lunch every day. Friends: It's awesome to see my daughter make friends and interact with the other kids and teachers. From what I can tell, all the 18mo+ kids know each other names and whose parents are walking up the driveway to pick up which kid. It's super cute. I can always get either Chester or Clara (the owners) on the phone if I have questions, loving teachers and great value for what you pay. All in all, a great day care. read more

We love Teddy Bears! Our son has attended Teddybears since he was six months. Despite all the changes that the pandemic brought, Teddybears has continued to be a source of security and happiness for our child and our family. It's clear that Ms Luz and Chris love what they do: Providing love, safety, and learning for the kids that attend their daycare. My son has learned so much and he's thriving under their care. As a parent, it is important to have peace of mind when dropping off your children. Not once have I ever doubted their ability to care or love my child. My daughter started with Teddy Bears (specifically the Busy Bears location on Main St) in February 2013 at the tender age of 12 weeks; for the past nearly three years, she has grown and thrived with the excellent, loving care of Clara, Chester, and all of the educators employed there. It is with a sad and heavy heart that we need to find daycare closer to home. Over the years, transitioning from infant to pre-schooler, they have consistently provided a stimlating, structured environment that has allowed her personality to shine through. Chester and Clara have always been quick to respond to any of my concerns, they have provided me with plenty of very helpful advice, and were always willing to work with any specific requests that I had for my daughter's care. Through daily updates and quarterly progress reports, I have always been kept up to date on her development. The fact that they provide meals is a huge bonus, their meal plans are always varied and excellent - plus Chester emails the food menu to the parents ahead of time so that parents are aware ahead of time. Her transition to solid food was seamless, and they've consistently gotten her to eat foods that are typically refused by toddlers. I've always loved the bi-ligual aspect of the daycare as well - as an english only speaking household, I felt having her learn even the basics of spanish from such a young age would be a huge benefit to her development. She already knows her alphabet, numbers, and colors in spanish and english, she routinely refers to objects in spanish rather than english, and she knows a number of songs in spanish. There is so much that I love about this daycare, it's really hard to put into words. Not only did my daughter form a strong bond with many of the educators, but I did as well. It was not an easy decision to make and we will miss everyone so much. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

My daughter started there when she was a little over a year old. I had just lost my dad and was looking for someone who I could trust with my daughter. Every morning I would drop her off and they welcomed her in like she was their own. Very clean place, amazing menu for the kids, great structure. My daughter would come home clean with her hair done every day. She is now 5 has been going to private school for 2 years and how much I miss Teddy Bears she misses Teddy Bears as well. My oldest started at Teddy Bears when he was about 1.5 years old and later transitioned to full time day care at Busy Bears. Before his 4th birthday, we welcomed our 2nd son who started at Busy Bears from the age of 3 months. Clara & Chester and their staff are excellent at providing our boys with activities and encouraging their growth and development. I have been amazed at the level of care and love that is conveyed by their staff. Both daycares allow for at most 10 children of varying ages. They also provide meals and are very flexible with what time we drop off and pick up the children. Benefits that I have seen? My boys have no trouble with food and are well adjusted to interacting with both older and younger children. My oldest was potty trained with the assistance of the staff at Busy Bears. My youngest had a very smooth transition to solids. I receive a daily record of my youngest's food, sleep, and bowel movements. We receive periodic updates about both boys development and growth. Also, we can stop and chat with the staff on any occasion to see how they are doing. In good weather, the boys are taken out for some sun and fun in the little private play areas built behind each daycare. The other parents are also wonderful and there are quarterly gatherings involving all of the families and children. In that way we have made great friends. I have found the children attending Teddy Bears and Busy Bears to be well adjusted, curious, and active. This is a bi-lingual daycare and it amazed me the day my son began singing songs to me in Spanish. He also learned to count to 30 and to recite and recognize the alphabet. My son started at Teddy Bears at just under 5 months old. As a first time mother who was about to transition back to work full time I was very hesitant about leaving him at a family day care and came armed with what seemed like 189708 questions. Clara (owner of Teddy Bears and 2 other nearby centers) was incredibly patient and understanding with me. She was not judgmental nor critical of anything I had to say regarding the expectation for my son's care but rather, commended me for asking all the questions I needed to feel secure that my son was going to be in the right place. Fast forward to almost 5 months later and there is not a day that my son does not get excited as we walk to the door. The staff is very attentive to his growing needs and offer suggestions and recommendations as needed, without sounding or being pushy or critical. They help with making sure he's meeting developmental milestones and are not phased at all with my endless phone calls to check on my son throughout the day. They are forgiving for my "first time mommy-ness" and care for my son as if he were their own child. Between the attentiveness to his needs, the fact that they provide daily snacks and meals (included in the pricing), are familiar with how to prepare breast milk (frozen or not) and provide daily educational and developmental classes (in both English and Spanish) as well as engage in activities that promote and encourage my son's gross motor skills - they are really second to none and I would recommend their services to anyone! It made my transition back to work as painless as possible and from day one, my son has never cried when I drop him off and always has a smile on his face when I pick him up. I can't say enough about the kind of business Clara and Chester run. My wife and I (and our two kids) were fortunate enough to live up the street from them. They took our youngest (18 months) and cared for him from 7:30-4:00 every day. We had come to them in a panic looking for a quality child care establishment, and it well surpassed our expectations. You have the option to do a hot lunch there. They acknowledge siblings upon drop off and pickups (and offer them cookies). They do dance parties in the afternoons, and do nightly functions to bring families together. After only a few months (when we moved) I could tell that they were really very sad to see our son go. Our son is going to miss giving Chester high five. Give these guys a chance, you won't regret it. read more

I cannot say enough GOOD things about the wonderful environment created by Clara and Chester at Teddy Bears and Busy Bears! My son started at the Busy Bears location in February 2013, and immediately we knew we had made the right choice in sending him there! It starts from the top: Chester and Clara have always been receptive, engaged, and involved with the children. It is apparent in everything they do that they care about the community they are creating, with a real sense of "family". The teachers have been amazing, attentive, caring, and enthusiastic about the care they provide the children every single day. My son has loved every one of his teachers, and he has loved them: they have been such an integral part of his young life. Knowing that my son was in their hands made the transition back to work after only two (short!) months much easier to handle. Meticulously detailed daily reports (up to age 2) kept me well-informed of his schedule and eating habits, and the quarterly progress reports were essential in tracking his growth and development. The facility is so clean and inviting, with friendly and stimulating colors and decor (including plenty of room for Friday dance parties!). A safe and warm environment to encourage learning and play. Between the imagination- and education-focused toys, classroom time, and art activities, my son was never bored! I particularly loved the bilingual aspect of the curriculum, and often found myself having to look up words in Spanish to keep up with my kid! The fenced-in side yard allows the children to get outside and play as often as the weather allows. A major bonus was the meal plan. Breakfast and lunch plus morning and afternoon snacks of healthy, wholesome food (Chester is a great cook!). All included in the unbelievably affordable tuition! Each week's menu was provided in advance so that you know what your child will be eating and can plan as needed. My son recently left Busy Bears to start at a larger preschool with more children his age. While it was a difficult decision to make, we know that it will also allow another child to benefit from the spectacular environment at Busy Bears. My son started at Teddy bears when he was 8 months old. As a first time parent, i was very concerned about where to send my son and ensuring that he gets the care and concern he would at home. Additionally my kid was also born preterm, which had me even more worried about finding the right place for him before returning to work. When we toured the place, the one the thing that mainly caught our attention was happy kids! That had us sold on the idea of sending our son there. Clara and the staff at Teddy bear have been spectacular with him. He got used to them pretty fast and looked forward to going there everyday and being with the teachers and his friends. Neither me or my husband speak Spanish, so the idea of him learning Spanish through the bilingual setting was great. The kids are well taken care of and disciplined. She provides balanced meals, that's a big bonus for full time working parents. The thing i liked the most was that they dont follow a cookie cutter approach, they acknowledge that every child is different and do whats best for each. We have been very happy with the place and were sad to leave it as we were relocating out of Boston. Teddy bears will be missed and I hope we find a daycare as good as this in the future too! read more

My daughter started at Teddy Bears at just under a year old and has been there about 8 months now. We have been beyond satisfied! As a first time mom and also having previously had a bad experience with a daycare, it means so much to me that when I drop my daughter off in the morning, I feel 100% confident that she is safe, well taken care of, properly fed, is engaged and feels loved. Teddy Bears has helped with my daughter's development so much and I am blown away by how many activities they do and how much she is learning. They have helped with everything from transitioning to solid foods to learning to use the potty. I am so impressed with the diversity of the curriculum - for example, in just the last couple weeks, the class has helped to make cupcakes, is individually growing bean sprouts (which my daughter gets very excited about watering every day), and worked as a group to make a poster and learn about the solar system - at 19 months old! It's incredible! Additionally, she is understanding Spanish and starting to speak a few Spanish words. She eats well when she is there and takes great naps - which is no small feat! I think my daughter's favorite part of the day is the dance parties they have before pick up each night! She loves the friends she has made there and talks about them daily; I also love that the small count of students allows me to personally know each of the other parents. In the summer the playground is located on the property, so the kids are never taken off the property. The cost is extremely reasonable, given the area, and includes all meals and milk. The staff here, including the owner, Clara, are knowledgeable, qualified, and caring. I can't say enough good things about this daycare and would recommend it to anyone. read more
