Due to Covid, they ask that you drop your piece off and pick it up the next day so that it can be sanitized, and that was no problem at all. After reading reviews and scouring the internet, I took a chance on Roland's last fall. My mother gifted me a pair of diamond earrings that had come from my father and wanted to have them reset next to my solitaire diamond on my engagement ring. Roland was super nice, thoughtfully examined my diamonds, and helped me redesign my engagement ring. The whole process took less than a week, and he gave me a great price given what the list price was on the new setting. In addition to completely re-doing my ring, he provided me with an updated insurance appraisal and sent me on my way. One of the prongs came loose on my ring just a few days ago, and I could feel my center diamond wiggling, so I took it back to Rolands to have it tightened. While there, I brought my wedding band (which I had purchased sight unseen online) to be appraised for insurance purposes. Roland appraised my ring for free after thoughtfully examining the diamonds and quality, and assessing that I had gotten a great deal in the process. In less than 2 days, my engagement ring was taken care of as well (despite the guy that usually does repairs his coming back from pneumonia) and also was done at no charge to me. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. The level of customer service I received was atrocious. My husband took my engagement ring here to be fixed because one of the stones had fallen out and while my ring was there for three weeks it was not fixed and THEY FAILED TO RETURN THE STONE THAT HAD FALLEN OUT OF MY RING. When my husband had dropped off the ring he brought the stone that had fallen out with him so that it could be set back in place. WHEN HE PICKED UP THE RING THE STONE WAS NOT RETURNED. On top of that it took them a week to give us an estimate on the ring repair. They told us they could repair the ring. Two weeks later they called to let us know they couldn't fix the ring. I didn't want to loan my ring to someone for three weeks. There is no reason on god's green earth that they should have had my ring for three weeks. If they were not able to fix the ring they should have told me three weeks ago, rather than today. They should also have returned the stone that was brought in with the ring. UPDATE: We finally received the stone back, but it was much dirtier than when we had dropped it off (it looked as if someone had drawn on it with a pencil.) The bottom line is when you are finding a jeweler to spend your hard earned money at (whether it be to purchase a new piece or get an old piece repaired) find a jeweler that respects you, your property and your time. It's always very busy and there's a reason why - they do an excellent job and everybody who works there is wonderful and friendly and kind. I called on a random Wednesday morning inquiring about getting my engagement ring "checked" for the first time since my engagement. Mary Beth was quick to tell me to just come on in! My husband and I originally purchased is wedding band from Roland's and I had them take my mom's diamonds and set them into a new band for myself. His ring was exactly what he wanted and mine came out totally beautiful. Considering they set my diamonds in a totally new band, without having to replace any of the diamonds, the price was even reasonable! Unfortunately, my husband and I had our wedding bands stolen from our home three months before our wedding (October of this year). We went right back to Roland's. Karen, one of the staff, was so kind and understanding, supportive and encouraging. She helped me feel better about the loss of my mom's ring and was so wonderful in helping me find a replacement. She took out her "secret stash" of bands -- I found the perfect one! My husband reordered the same band and we had them engraved. The staff helped us work out a price since we were loyal customers - coming back for our second set of bands. They took care of us the way that family does. They kept our rings safe and sound until the day before the wedding. We were given ring bags for safe keeping, the original ring boxes, jewelry cleaner and even a ring bearer bag to walk down the aisle with. Truly fantastic. I brought in a bracelet to the place I purchased it to get a very simple repair. They said it would take 2 weeks and would be over $50. I decided to stop in to Roland's having never been before; they repaired my bracelet on the spot, took less than 5 minutes, and insisted on not charging me. I would highly recommend coming here, they clearly are fair with their pricing and won't cheat you unlike the mass manufacturer where the bracelet came from. I went to the store to shorten one necklace, fix two other necklaces (the chain was in two) and change the battery in 3 watches. They were super quick, and brought my stuff back within 15 minutes and I realized they only charged me for replacing the batteries ($15) and didn't charge me at all for fixing the necklaces! Granted, it was an easy job, but still - it was totally unexpected and I was super appreciative. I came back a week later to pick up my shortened necklace and it looked great and it was cheap ($20). I come here every time one of my multiple watches needs a new battery and each time I have come in, a new battery is installed very quickly and the cost is very reasonable. Well during my most recent visit I was informed that the battery I had in this particular watch was replaced and installed by them only 8 months ago and they warranty their work for 1 year, so they installed a new battery free of charge!! I was so shocked, I didn't even know that they had a method in place where they can tell the date they install a battery nor did I know that they have a warranty policy so I was pleasantly surprised and quite impressed and appreciative that Roland's offer this service to their customers!! I will continue to bring my watches there for service and would like to acknowledge how rare it is to find such honest and outstanding customer service. A small side diamond fell off my engagement ring that I have had for about 8/9 yrs that I hardly wore because of the neighborhood I work in. I love my ring very much and of course it means a lot to me so I looked for a place that had great ratings that would take good care of my ring. Went into the store and was not greeted and I'm like okay...not friendly especially the older women that looked like I killed her cat. I told the guy that a diamond fell out of my ring and the older man was like "This is an industry problem...". These things happen so I don't care just fix my ring. They kept my ring for two days to repair that cost $70 and I was ecstatic to finally get my ring back. I did notice they melted the outlining and made a few marks but maybe they couldn't avoid it so I let it go. I wore it twice on the weekend (each time no more than 5 hours) and the same diamond fell off again. I went back and again no one greets me. Others have reviewed that they're friendly and professional and I have to wonder is it because I'm Asian, my brother in-law is white and they greeted and asked him if he needed any help. I'm really offended in the obvious difference in treatment. Anyways, I was told the same older women that the same diamond fell off again and she said it's not the same diamond that fell off from last time with attitude. I do have dozens of small diamonds all around my prong and the band but because of scratches they made on my ring the last time I know exactly which diamond and they melted the gold so that is an indication the repair, I know my ring well. The younger guy that also helped was nicer and told me if it falls out again I will have to send it back to the manufacturer. The jewelry store that my husband got it from has been closed about 11-12 years now. Roland's website has false advertisement, "...complex jewelry repairs", "40 years of experience" and you can't properly fix my ring? Went to pick up my ring and of course I had to start the greeting again. When the guy took out my ring I was so distraught, I saw from a foot distance that they RUINED my ring! They melted a lot of the gold ruining the structure, the design, the definition details and left many more deep markings on my ring. It looked horrible and it was very noticeable a sloppy job. Is it out of despite or just not experienced? I told the older man that the gold is all melted, he just said well "I wasn't the one who did it", took a magnifying glass to it and went on about "This is an industry problem...if it falls off again we will charge you.". Why would I want to entrust my ring again, I don't want a piece of a gold ball infused with diamonds back. I sped out of the store because I was so upset and wanted to cry, they RUINED my ring! I have had a diamond pendant necklace for 8 years and it only broke once before. It recently broke this spring, and I brought it to Roland's for the first time. I am highly Unsatisfied with their workman ship. I have had it break 3 times since they have repaired it! I went to rolands to "shop local" however i wont be doing this again. Terrible service. I took my wedding ring to be resized here. The ring had a matte finish to it. When I came back to get it post-resizing it was incredibly shiny. When I asked why they told me that the resizing process required that they polish the ring. They didn't tell me that before they began and when I pressed them in why hey didn't tell me that it would change the look of the ring they said first they didn't know it would happen and they didn't realize I wanted it to look the same. I had had it resized once before somewhere else without it needing to be transformed into a shine finish. Overall terrible communication and service. I am so disappointed and would recommend that anyone stay away from this place. read more
