This should be a zero review. My dryer was not working, so I called Don's. They came out and replaced the belt, so the dryer turned. But now it makes noise. It did not dry the clothes. I called them again and they came out, but the dryer still did not dry the clothes and it made more noise after they left than when they left the first time. That was over $220.00 for both visits. Then I called Ted's. They came out but did not fix the problem, the dryer still made noise and did not dry the clothes. They sent me a bill for $75.00. I protested, so they cancelled the bill. Then two weeks later I got a bill for the same $75.00 they charged me for the first time. Finally after calling two different electricians, we finally got the dryer to dry clothes. But it still makes noise. That was over $500.00. I could have bought a new dryer and saved all the hassle. read more

After using Ted's for 21 years, we're going elsewhere for our appliance repairs. Last fall I called to have my 2.5 year old Maytag washer serviced. It sounded like a belt was slipping. It sounded just like when a belt squeals on a car. When the technician arrived, he turned a couple dials, put it through a cycle, and told me the transmission on my fairly new machine needed to be replaced. He also said he had no idea when a new one would come due to supply chain issues. My options were to wait, buy a new machine, or as the technician told me "let my current machine run until it dies." I paid the $75 service call and he left. We chose option 3 because with the Holidays, and I didn't feel like putting money out for a new washer right then. Good thing I didn't! I called Maytag in February and was put in touch with Dimond repair. The technician came out, took one listen and said, "yes, it's a belt." He fixed it and within 30 minutes my machine was running good as new. I was told that since Ted's was bought out, the service deteriorated. I didn't believe it. The front office staff was as helpful as always, and the technician seemed to know what he was talking about. I never had a bad experience before and I trusted them. Not anymore. read more

Teds appliance was recommended by plum electric in mount morris. They called early in the morning and gave me a 1 hour window. He showed up right on time. He fixed my freezer after recommending several options. We chose the cheapest for us at this time. Ok.....the following week our stove started to spark...its a 1950s Nutone stove....the same guy came and fixed it for a reasonable price. The technician....Sean....was very good. I can't say enough about how great the service is from Ted's Appliance. Every single time we have needed a service call all the technicians have been so professional and respectful. I asked for a call before they arrived so I could get my dog who isn't feeling well in a room and they called and asked how she was doing. I just waited 10 days for a morning appointment. I told them I work nights and get home at 9:30am and go to bed by 11:00, so it has to be in that time frame. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. I come home from work and check my messages and their guy tells me 1pm-2pm. So I call him and he has the office call me back and tell me 1-2 is all they have open because their real busy. Why did I just wait 10 days to get the appointment time I needed only to be jerked around at the last minute? I promptly cancelled my appointment. This place AND the company that refered them to me are now on my no call list! They know how to set an appointment, but not how to keep one. Classic Seinfeld episode right there. read more

I purchased an LG washer and dryer from American. The dryer started acting up and would go to custom program without touching any buttons then if you hit start nothing would happen. We called american and they said it would be weeks before they could come out. I told them that would not work so they said we could all Teds they sent a young kid out at the time who put all his tools on top of the brand new washer and said the board was bad and replaced it. Soon after just like before the same thing happened we called but it stopped doing it which it had done in the past so we cancelled. Over the years it kept doing it and then it would work again so how do you call someone out. I open it up to check connections and found half the locks that hold the wires to the board are broken and if he had tried this moving the wires with it running it would beep and flash like a lose connection so I took foil tape and taped the connectors to the board that worked for about 3 weeks. Took it apart again and found if I moved the wires it would beep so I checked the continuity from one end to the other and it seamed ok so all I could figure is one wire or more at the connector is loose so I taped the wires down where they go into the connectors turned on the power and moved the wires around no beeping. Now it works for how long I don't know. If they replaced the panel board that has all new wires on it instead of the PCB board on the left it would be fixed. I don't have the 300 dollars for the board right now to replace something that at the time was under warranty read more
