This is a cute and delicious butcher and deli. We came here for a late lunch after going to the African American museum. I had a fantastic bbq pork sandwich with aside fruit salad. What a fabulous establishment this is! We shared the pastrami sandwich which was phenomenal with these unusual and wonderful pickled cuke slivers. Even more phenomenal was their mushroom pie. I know I would gain 20 pounds in the 2 months of living near here. Their deli cases were filled with wonderful meats and sausages, pates have never heard of, side dishes, such as potato salad and coleslaw. Indoors there is plenty of seating even on a busy day, with a cool busy downtown vibe overall. Teds Butcherblock is a great spot for oh so many things. As the name implies- it is a butcher shop- think 6 different kinds of the best bacon you have ever had and may other high end types of meats. This is a great place to order your organic Thanksgiving Turkey! They also do sandwiches and other prespared food and it is a great wine shop! This time I stopped in for wine and I found a favorite Riesling from the Finger Lakes- looking on the winery's website this is one of two shops in the Charleston area where you can find this wine. There are so many options to choose from, with wonderful sandwiches, salads etc. I had the barbecued pulled pork panini with a fruit salad side, which provided just the right mix of the tangy BBQ sauce and the sweet fruit salad. I even loved the organic iced tea, which was flavorful tea and required no additional sweetener. Pricing was very affordable averaging less than $20 per person, quite a value for all that was delivered. The location is a well-designed meat/cheese shop, and restaurant all wrapped into one, with comfortable seating and a very friendly staff. The staff was very accommodating, especially to my friend who was gluten intolerant. It's a great atmosphere for everyone from families to singles. Ted's is my favorite butcher shop in town! They have a small market area with local products, frozen meals, and a great wine selection. The employees are super knowledgeable and always willing to help! They are quick and welcoming! This is a great place to grab a delicious lunch. There is casual seating indoor and outdoor. Some of my favorite things include the macaroni Gouda shells, pasta salad, sandwiches, and chili. They are known for having lovely Friday night sit down dinners although I have yet to attend. There is a nice restroom in the back for use. Parking can be a nightmare during lunch times but there is plenty of metered parking on the back side of the building. read more

I ordered the special sandwich for lunch, with a side of mac n cheese and Lowcountry Kettle chips. Root beer to wash it down. The sandwich was a spicy rotisserie chicken with jalapenos, onions, pesto, cheddar, on a ciabatta role. Each bite was perfect. This sandwich special was truly special. Taste and flavor had just enough kick but not enough to make you regret biting into it. We arrived around 1pm, and if you have flexibility to do so, do so. Getting there at peak lunch time is not advisable if you plan on sitting down to eat. They're popular and busy for good reason. read more

This is a cute place downtown, next to East Bay Deli. My friend took me here after raving about how good it was. We ate lunch. I was craving a hotdog (which I was originally planning to order at the other place we had planned to go to) and was happy that they had one on special for that day (i.e., they don't serve them everyday). I ordered a hotdog, a San Pellegrino drink from the fridge, and loaded potato salad. My friend ordered a sandwich with macaroni and cheese. The place is pretty expensive for a quick lunch, but it's reflective of the quality of the food. My hotdog was good, but not the best I've ever had. I didn't love the chili on my hotdog, but there was nothing wrong with it - just my preference. It was more of soup chili with beans and not "hotdog chili." The loaded potato salad was delicious, and it would make a great side dish at any party or dinner event. My friend's chicken and parmesan sandwich was absolutely delicious, and at the same time, it is something that could be purchased (or made) at most sandwich shops. The macaroni and cheese was also good - cheesy and creamy - but needed to be heated up a little more. All in all, I really liked this place. I don't think that I will ever go out of my way to go here again, but I would not refuse or complain about coming here if someone else wanted to take me. I say give it a shot. Stopped here while killing some time and hunger pains before heading to the Ft. Sumter tour nearby. Overall I like this place, but my sandwich was tough to deal with - in a literal sense. We ordered at the counter, with my choice being the wagyu beef panini. I can say I didn't read that it had mushrooms - so I had to scrape them off which is my fault. However, the beef was inedible. The gristle outnumbered beef pieces, ans I found one bite meant pulling all the beef off the sandwich- chewy and crunchy with all the gristle that ruined the sandwich totally. I liked the bleu cheese aioli on it. The sides of potato salad and cole slaw were very well done - full of flavors But the meat again ruined this for me. Ted's is a great butcher located off of East Bay Street. I haven't eaten there for a meal but have always picked up meat to grill later. I didn't give it 5 stars because honestly while the service is great, the meat never seems worth the exorbitant price you pay. They have a deli that you can order sandwiches and sides (a lot of "to go" and pickup orders) as well as the butcher where they will cut meat up for you.
