I visited Wisconsin Meat and Cheese for a meet-and-greet event with local elected officials and candidates running for office this November. It's true that folks in Wisconsin love cheese, and this shop has tons of it, as well as other artisanal products. Whether you're looking for meat, cheese, wine, crackers, bread, or other items for a charcuterie board, they've got it. They have a good selection of gifts and home items, and they sell wine by the glass. Many of the items are Wisconsin based, but some are also local to Charleston. These meats and cheeses are in coolers with doors that slide open. That keeps the cheeses cold and not out in the open like some of the grocery stores. The charcuterie boards we had for the event were beautiful and delicious. Wisconsin Meat and Cheese does make custom boards, which is not a bad idea if you are hosing an event or party. I felt like the prices were very fair, especially for the quality and personalized service. I love that the business is owned by a young local couple. What a fun place to visit! I came in to get a sandwich after three different people recommended them to me. I had no idea they also had a very large selection of different types of cheese as well as meats. Bratwurst flavors I never knew existed. In addition, they have wine. There are a number of parings like mustards, jams, pickled vegetables, crackers, and charcuterie essentials. I ordered the charcuterie sammy and also purchased some Ruben brats to take home. The sandwich lived up to all the hype. Super fresh bread, flavorful Brie, and fresh greens. I also found a cute little slice of apple pie tucked in the bag! Visited Wisconsin Meat & Cheese for the first time and loved it! The store is adorable and packed with cheeses, meats, snacks, wines, and great gift ideas--they even make custom gift baskets. This is such a great addition to James Island! They have a wonderful assortment of cheese, brats, summer sausage and everything you would need for a charcuterie board! I have spent a fair amount of time in the midwest and I love having a selection of some of the best brats, cheese and summer sausage close to home. This is a cute little sandwich shop. They use and sell cheese from Wisconsin. The place is small so I would not recommend it for a large group of people, but I would recommend it for two people to grab a quick casual lunch. my son and I both had charcuterie sammies. They were fresh and delicious! The menu is à la cart and I do think $2.50 for a small bag of chips and extra money for a drink was kind of expensive but I understand it with today's economy. We were THRILLED when we read about Wisconsin Meat & Cheese; we made our way over to see what all the hype was about...and we're glad we did. As cheesy as it sounds, we felt at home. Background: We're both from Michigan, have MANY WI friends, travel through WI a few times a year, and have been to the Cheese Castle eleventy times. Yes, WM&C is a mini Cheese Castle, set up with *sharp, clear, intuitive stations and familiar foods and products. It's a small store with a big selection. We quickly filled our basket with bison beef sticks (dynamite), a cheese parade, and crackers. Our faves were definitely the beef sticks and the bacon cheddar. WOW-whee. Coming in at a close second was the tomato and basil mozzarella. Going forward, we'd love to see WM&C make their own beef sticks, carry a bigger curd selection, add some paired wines, and (like up north) make you a grilled cheese while you shop. You can also order a variety of delicious sandwiches. I've enjoyed in store with a glass of wine or to go and both ways are amazingly high quality. I love the atmosphere in store, and the way the food is packaged to go to maintain its beautiful set up. The couple who runs this place is so sweet and knowledgeable! I've even had to bring in my own board for a specific beach picnic and they were able to set up the charcuterie right on that for me so I wouldn't have to transfer it myself. If you like artisan food stuffs from Wisconsin you are in for a treat! This little gem is located between AutoZone and Truist Bank, in a small retail strip. As your headed to Folly Beach, it'll be on your right. I purchased 9 & 5 year old Cheddar cheeses, go get you some! That is going to become a guilty little pleasure!! Also purchased a couple of types of summer sausage, a Amber beer mustard, meat sticks, and a smoky bacon cheese spread. Everything I've tried so far is on another level from available options around Charleston. The young man behind the counter I spoke with is also the owner, entrepreneurship! The place is not huge, they're just getting off the ground. The interior decor was nicely put together, and the six coolers all have clear pull up screens to keep the cold in the coolers and not in the main of the store. They also have other Wisconsin foods such as bratwurst, bacon, bread cheese, candies, etc. If you don't see an item that your looking for that originates in Wisconsin, I have a feeling they'll see if they can get it. read more

It took me a bit to get in to Wisconsin Meat and Cheese, but, it was well worth the wait. I had the Fancy Ham Sammie and it was marvelous. Ham, cheese, spinach and a honey mustard on what appears to be a baguette. My spouse had the Brat'o'the'day, which happened to be a jalapeño and cheddar brat, also on a baguette, served hot. We dined in as they have three tables inside and four outside and our sandwiches came with a little slice of their Apple Kringle, a sweet treat to finish the meal. The young couple who own and manage this adorable niche shop were knowledgeable about their products and are actually from Wisconsin. Due to this we also walked out with a selection of their cheeses, their brats, dried snack meats, jam, mustard and olives. Their price points were very reasonable, as in equitable with the local grocery stores. Our two sandwiches were well under $20 and the bag of goodies ran around $30. Money well spent in my humble opinion.
