I had the beef sandwich, which was pretty dang good. It came with the world's smallest cup of mac and cheese, but that's okay because it's meant to just be a side. I'm not sure if we met the original Ted or not, but I am of the assumption that everyone in there was named Ted, which is neat. OMG! The March featured special of corned beef and cabbage on rye was the best! So tasty and delicious. My husband got the bbq pulled pork and said it was tangy and loved it. Great spot for a quick lunch! We stopped here while on vacation before going on the Fort Sumter tour. You order at the counter and get your food pretty quickly so great if you are short on time. I got the Waldorf chicken salad sandwich which was really good with a side of Mac and cheese which was served cold which was odd but good. People with me got a lot of the smoked meat. We saw the cook out back on our way in and I believe all their food is super fresh. They also had free water out in the middle of the restaurant. A deli and a butcher shop along with eat-in tables. They do dinner and also catering. Had the Pastrami sandwich, bread was very thick. Pastrami a little too fatty for my taste. We stopped in after we had a disappointing cancellation of our ferry trip to Fort Sumter due to weather. This spot is a combination deli and butcher shop so don't expect ambience. The sandwiches we ordered were delicious and large. The pastrami was made in shop and it took 3 weeks to complete the process. They are known for their beef sandwiches which was medium rare, the way I ordered it. If we are ever back in Charleston, we would stop by here again. read more

I read the reviews and was really excited to try this place. I ordered the veggie panini and the hubs got the waygu sandwich. My favorite thing between those two was actually the potato salad that came with it. The potato salad had good dill flavor. The mac and cheese side is served cold, it's not bad, but who ever raves about cold Mac and cheese? The sandwiches, in my opinion, were both overwhelmed by the flavor of caramelized onions. I love caramelized onions, but this was just too much and none of the other flavors were strong enough to come through. Totally edible, but nothing I really care to try again. read more

I'm mostly vegetarian, but my husband is crazy about his meat, so yesterday, we went to Ted's Butcherblock for lunch and to buy some meat. Ted's is a small-ish shop but they make good use of the space, and there's a lot of tables and room to eat, as well as a few tables outside. Also outside, there's an extra-large Big Green Egg smoker cooking up meat for those who eat it. My husband loves his BGE so that made him excited right away. There is also a parking lot in front (free) and if it is full, there's metered parking on the street behind Ted's. I can find something to eat anywhere and Ted's was no exception. They had several vegetarian items on the menu such as a veggie panini and build your own salad, and some vegetarian side dishes. I decided to get the Greek salad with the Greek dressing on the side. For $8, it was a pretty substantial salad and I couldn't eat it all. They do package it in a to-go container. It was topped with lots of delicious feta cheese and the mixed greens were delicious, no iceberg lettuce here! Most people probably don't think of a salad when they go to Ted's, but I'd gladly return and order this again. The lunch was just over $20 for the two of us so it's not a bad deal for the peninsula. read more

Wow, what a find, in Charleston!. There was a fair amount of people having lunch, servers were busy, friendly, attentive. We actually went in for some pancetta which was rather difficult to find elsewhere. But we found it here, they were able to cut exactly what we needed, they wrapped it up. I think that I was expecting more based on the numerous 4 and 5 star reviews. The staff is super nice and helpful explaining the various options and the daily specials. I ordered the Italian and although it was a nicely portioned sandwich I could not get into it. Most Italian hogies/sandwiches have a stiffer crunchy bread this one was soft and the meats were not traditional although very tasty and I believe possibly made in house. You get one side with your order so I tried their potato salad which had perfectly cooked potatoes but it was bland overall. The was an average non-alcoholic drink selection and an above average alcoholic selection. The best thing that I had was actually their beef jerky which was perfectly seasoned and not tough. I'll have to give this place another shot next time I am in the low country. read more

Teds is always delicious. They provided food for a work event of mine last year and I have been in love ever since. The Wagyu beef sandwich is truly the real deal. It comes thinly sliced with blue cheese aioli, mushrooms, and onion, and is pressed thin on fresh bread. The other sandwiches are top notch as well but the Wagyu roast beef is the unique one here not to be missed. Can't wait to go back. Would love to see a loyalty card/program from Ted's! read more

This place is delicious and have so many different options. From meats, fish, sandwiches, wine, cheese, to pre made picnics they leave everything a foodie could ask for. I will say the meats are a little expensive compared to other butcher shops in Charleston so if you're looking for high quality with the high prices this is your place. I'm going to piggyback off some other reviews I've seen on here. I love coming here: the smell in the place is incredible - pulled pork or some sort of smoked meat and it is just heavenly to walk into. The layout and the selection of baguettes, cheeses, meats, salads, is quite comprehensive. You get a little grocery store while you wait for your custom lunch! Absolutely great idea and what folks may not realize is that they're also a butcher shop. Really clever way to get a rare breed of store these days and mix it with a great lunch atmosphere. Food: I usually get the Pulled Pork sandwich. Like always. But today, I caught that specials board flirting with me ;) decided on the Smoked Chicken Thigh sandwich instead which was absolutely wonderful. It's amazing when I can taste the cut of chicken used, and also the smokiness at the same time. That's extremely impressive and speaks to the quality of ingredients and to the work involved here. You have a wide selection of drinks and desserts to choose from here and the atmosphere is wonderful for a quick lunch or meeting. Staff is highly trained, friendly, and provides a welcoming atmosphere. As for the WiFi, for me it needs a password and I couldn't find t anywhere in here? Seems kind of weird to review a sandwich shop, but this place was really good. We needed something quick before the Fort Sumter tour, and this was the only place nearby that seemed decent. This is one of the places in Charleston I have missed since moving up to Asheville. I came back for a visit and HAD to come here! The selections of charcuterie items are wonderful! Some imported, a lot house made. The staff is always so kind and will slice 2 oz of bresaola super thin just for you. There is always a nice seafood selection, this time they had tilefish, yum! Nice cuts of meat to take home and have gourmet dinners or impress your friends. I like to stock up on duck fat when I come here as well. Check out their freezers also! They sell wine and cheese too, I grabbed some red dragon (whole grain mustard seeds in it) while I was here. Up front they usually have local eggs, duck confit, meatballs, soups,etc. As well as drink items. They serve lunch too but I have never had it, I just go there to stock up on supplies :) I wish they opened a place in Asheville!!! read more

The quality of all their food is some of best in Charleston as everything is delicious and flavorful. There were three of us today. Two loved their sandwiches, an Italian and a roast beef sub. I did not. I got the veggie panini. They shredded carrots, yellow squash and zucchini and then sautéed it. Unfortunately that technique released a ton of liquid onto the bread leaving the too half of the focaccia crispy and delicious, and bottom half a soggy mess. Also, the veggie mixture was so over salted it was inedible. I would definitely go back, but I wouldn't get the veggie panini. The potato salad however was worth the trip! read more
