    Walkup and Order here!
    Kirk M.

I popped into Teds on a whim while waiting for the wifey to get her hair done and I was not disappointed. This place was packed on a Saturday for a reason. The walkup and order counter is a busy but well orchestrated place. Burgers, Dogs, Tenderloins and Gyros are the main items on the menu. They offer some beers and fountain drinks. They also had a kids menu! The staff was fast, friendly and very attentive. I ordered myself a Gyro and a side of Cheese sticks for my better half! Now I want to go back and try some hot dogs! Take cash and save yourself some money since there is a surcharge for using plastic.

Friendly service and pretty good food options. The guy working the counter was cheerful and polite. You get a lot of food when you order the basket, including what I believe are homemade onion rings. They're a good cross between the thin ones like you get at the Tavern and the thick ones like you see at Applebees. Cole slaw is shredded KFC style, but has red cabbage thrown in. Fries are straight cut and are nothing special. $9 isn't bad for the whole package...drinks are extra.

Service is great. Although I'm a visual person. The staff describe the food to help me choose. Glad with my choices. Definitely will cone

The gf and I stopped by Ted's West yesterday for lunch the other day. She got the coney basket and I got the tenderloin with chili and cheese basket. With one soda and a water it ran $20 and change. Booths were clean, but I think the fountain drink dispenser must have sputtered and sprayed my hand with cola syrup. I noticed some kind of brown crap all over my hand and my cup when I sat down in our seat. I noticed one of the women at another table vigorously scrubbing her hand off too. Glad it wasn't just me... Unfortunately it ended up ruining the gray Patriots shirt (Superman-like logo only available online) I had on as I hadn't noticed the syrup right away, it didn't come out in the wash, and stained the shirt. I can't say I've ever been stunned by Ted's, but it makes for a $10 plate of solid food... Their gyros, tenderloin, dogs, etc... The onion rings and fries... All good. Just not knock it out of the ballpark, game's tied up bottom of the ninth, home run amazing for me. Date of service: 08/03/2018

I have had many gyros over the course if my lifetime, and I'm a big fan of them. I absolutely loved the gyro.with feta I ordered from this place. The sauce was perfect and ill definitely be ordering it again.

Since the Chicago Dog on Douglas closed and they only have the University location open now, I wanted to find a place closer that offered something like it. I saw that Ted's Coney Island West offered a Shap Dog and noted on the menu as Chicago-style so I ordered it. I must say it's pretty darn good! It has the poppy seed bun with all the toppings so it's definitely been "dragged through the garden" like a true Chicago dog. I also like that they ask if you want sweet or hot peppers with your hot dog. If you read my reviews you'll know I love spicy so yes to hot peppers please! It just gives it that tastier kick. So if you're on this side and craving a Chicago Dog, I'd recommend checking it out here. PS I ordered the basket with extra onion rings and they are tasty too!

Awesome food, hamburger coney style is great as well as their gyros. I live in Polk City and drive to Ted's whenever I can.

I ordered the rice platter with falafel, and wow, flavor explosion! The tzatziki tasted homemade (because it probably is) and was super creamy and delicious. Now, let's talk about the tiny plot twist -- they charge $0.75 each for olives and feta. Not a dealbreaker, but for that price I was hoping for more than five lonely olive slices and a baby spoonful of feta. Still, everything else totally made up for it -- the food came out fast, fresh, and full of flavor. I'll definitely be back!

The seating space indoors was small but there was substantial patio seating available if the day was sunnier! We ordered two ginger lemonade which were fresh and delicious. Started with an appetizer of pita and red pepper hummus which was average. For mains, we did a falafel burger and a moroccan chicken skewer which were AMAZING. I mean, like flavors that made me so happy. The chicken skewers had a strong seasoning and were accompanied by a sauce that created a dynamic flavor pairing. Finished with baklava that was average; had a good flavor but it was a bit dry. Will be back!

Their food is fantastic, service is quick, and it tastes great! It's fast casual "build your own bowl" style place, very similar to Chipotle, just with Mediterranean options. I ordered a harissa chicken gyro with lettuce, cucumber/tomato, and tzatziki. My husband got the basic lamb gyro. Both were very tasty and made well, but the pita bread just fell apart and made it very messy to eat. All the options are customizable and similar to a "chipotle" ordering where you pick your option, protein, veggies, and sauce. The staff were friendly and efficient even after telling us they were short staffed. Their soda machine had some fun choices to choose from. We enjoyed the strawberry and cream soda. Pricing seemed medium-high at $11 for just the gyro and Ala carte add ons for drinks and sides. The interior had plenty of booths, tables, and patio seating. The bathrooms were ok, could've been cleaner. Overall, I'd come back but just not my first choice.

The food outshined the service!…read more Ambiance: 4 stars Food: 5 stars Service: 2 stars Well, I came here with a friend for lunch. He loves the place and said the Gyros are fantastic. So I went with his recommendation. First impressions: The place is small and nicely located in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. They have adequate seating and were only slightly busy when we arrived (I would say it was at half capacity the entire time we were there) We stood at the reception location for a while before we were 'greeted' and finally seated. We sat for quite a while before the guy with the headset to came back to take our orders. This was the weird part - he was fine, but he spoke so quietly we were not sure he was addressing us or talking to someone in his headset. Eventually we got our orders in, and we again waited. Some time later the water showed up, then after another pause the drinks we ordered were delivered, and sometime later the food showed up. He even remembered the dipping sauce which I thought I was going to have to ask for. We ate our entire meals without once being asked how things were, and eventually after the food was all gone, he came back to unceremoniously plop the bill on the table, and after another extended period he came back to process the payment. All-in-all the interaction with this guy was 'just weird'. (It was suggested that he might be the son of the owner...) He was doing his job but there was absolutely not any extra effort put in to make us feel welcome, and the total lack any real interaction was off-putting. The overall appearance of the place was nice and appeared clean, the decor was fresh and classy. However the bar area around the kitchen was very cluttered and looked like it was being used for overflow storage and it was a bit chaotic and had lots of clutter. Please forgive the fact that I forgot to take pictures of the delicious food. I got into conversation with my friend and just forgot! It was a very well made traditional Gyro with generous portions of meat, fresh hummus and a perfect portion of super fresh tzatziki sauce. I ordered fresh jalapeños and they got that right too! The side of fries were delicious as well, seasoned perfectly, crispy and fresh, and the garlic sauce...well did not lack for garlic! Wowza!! Overall I do recommend this place for the food! I will most likely return and I hope that the service will be a little better next time around.

Still, it was nothing that would ever draw me back given the discomfort we three felt from the waiter. Sorry, we were hoping to find a gem.
