We were down in Clinton for the Apple and Pork Festival & wanted to eat afterwards. I found Ted's, it's decorated cute, the food was very good and the service even better! We had the ribs and steak special, the ribs were tender, bbq sauce was good too I would order them again. The steak was really good, very tender and no steak sauce was needed, excellent flavor. Sitting around on Labor Day Sunday, everyone hungry but no one wanted to cook so we headed to Ted's Garage in Clinton, Illinois. If you have never been, you should certainly try this local fav! Full of fun car related decor, its a warm welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff, wonderful food and great prices! They were busy but we were seated right away. Our server, Sierra, got our drink order while we checked out the menu. Almost everyone got steak, except my uncle who got the taco salad. I ordered the Cheyenne Sirloin with sauted mushrooms and onions, a couple people ordered ribeyes and other steaks. The food came out fast, hot and fresh! My medium rare steak was perfect and came with a big baked potato. All the steaks were wonderful and Unc pronounced taco salad fresh and delicious! Besides the terrific food and fun ambiance, what made our visit special was our server, Sierra. She was very friendly, helpful and attentive with order updates, refills and checked on us several times through the meal. Terrific Service! Ordered Pork tenderloin for Lunch. Plate was HOT enough to burn yourself. Pork was greasy and overcooked enough to make the breading overdone and crumbly/crunchy. (NOT in a good way) Lettice, onion tomato put on in such a way that I had to take it off and put it back on to eat. Was going to comment on the sandwich when I paid (Left $5 tip on the table) but, I was asked if I wanted my change - was given a one dollar bill with a huge hole in it, (and she didn't have my change). By then? Thinking to myself "What did I do to piss you off?" I told her YES, I wanted my change and not THAT dollar bill. Stayed polite - and had to wait awhile. The quality has been going down. But this last trip 7/1/2024 might be our last. I ordered a burger and onion rings. I noticed a black hair on my plate, then I noticed another one in my onion rings. My first time there was not anything to disappoint. I had their version of a pony burger and it was delicious. The wait was not even an issue to be seated our waitress was quick to make sure we were covered with drinks but not rushing us to order. It was a family get together so everyone was catching up. Served me a rock shaped sirloin when I ordered a medium fliet. Then I got a better cooked sirloin but still not a fliet. I told them I didn't want another my birthday dinner was ruined my table was done eating. Then the cherry on top, they tried to make me pay for a fliet. I specifically said I didn't want replaced my guest were done. If I wanted reheated steak, it was going to be 22 fliet. So they got mad I wouldn't pay for them ruining my dinner and expected me to pay for a steak they screwed up 2x and go home and ruin it in the microwave. A nice little restaurant just down the road from my house so I frequent here often. I'm extremely surprised to read any negative reviews about the service, although they seem to be coming from people who come here one time, as I've always been treated excellently even though I'm not originally from here in town. Dorothy/Skyler/Jose all frequently serve me, enough so that I've learned them by name, and they've always been excellent. Jose is a master mixologist, ask him to whip you up something custom from the bar! My food experience is right on par with the service experience. I bounce between the Ranchero, Camino, and your standard burger. Consistency is definitely there, and they have some pretty solid daily specials throughout the week. I ordered 2 cheese burgers, an order of onion rings, and some chips and queso, I totaled it up to $25... when I arrived it was $33, weird. They tried telling me taxes was 25% which is BS. Then after I got home they didn't give me the white BBQ sauce that I ordered specifically with the onion rings. The fries that came with the burger were the worst fries I've ever seen at a restaurant, soggy, and tasteless. The chips looked like they have been reused, seeing previous bite marks in some of the chips. I used to love going here but it has gone downhill. First off. I want to say that this is a locally owned business that seems to really thrive on its regular 65+ customers. I always try to support local, but if you are just traveling through or you're working during a shutdown at the local power plant, this may not be for you. My son and I had to make a trip to Clinton for the DMV location and decided to stop for a bite to eat about 4:30pm. I understand that the time we stopped is more conducive for an older crowd, but as our meal progressed, It became clear this is the local spot for the older generation in town. The decor is meant to be like a 50's throwback with car themed menu items. But the atmosphere/ lighting and tables made it feel more like a themed nursing home dining room. I do want to point out the place was very clean and my son said the bathrooms were very well kept. We were told to seat ourselves and had no issues at all with the service. Our waitress was prompt and courteous and checked on us often. No complaints there. The food, however, was not great. We ordered the "white salsa and chips" as an appetizer while we waited for our food. Now.. I'm a Midwest girl. And yes. In the Midwest, we like ranch dressing. But.. DONT PUT A SALSA PACKET IN A BOWL OF RANCH AND CALL IT WHITE SALSA! It's RANCH DRESSING and corn chips!!! The first bite when I realized it was cold, my tastebuds immediately thought of poor mans cool ranch Doritos. No. Just no. My sons meal came with soup or salad. He elected the "loaded baked potato soup". But he wasn't feeling it. And this is a 16 year old kid! He eats everything. He said it had zero salt and tasted like canned potato soup with fake bacon bits. Ok. So not a great start. That's ok. Our meal came promptly from the nice waitress. I ordered the burger with Swiss and sweet potato fries. He ordered a chicken Alfredo dish. My burger might not have been cooked all the way through or it was medium. I won't complain about the flavor on that. It was ok. I risked it. The Swiss was basically a Kraft cheese slice. The sweet potato fries lacked any flavor at all. My son said the chicken Alfredo wasn't too bad. Reminded him of the ready made stuff at Cheesecake Factory. (This is a positive in his book). We wish we would have both ordered "the all you could eat walleye" honestly. Their daily specials seemed to be a hit with the crowd there and maybe that's more their specialty. If there was a way for us to give 0 stars, we would. We are from out of town, only 45-60 minutes away, but we were excited to try the breakfast. When we walked in, there were about 3-4 tables occupied. We read the sign that told us to go ahead and be seated and we did. It took quite a few minutes to even be acknowledged, even though there were 2 servers there, yet nowhere in sight. When our server finally came to us she said, "My name is ... and don't get too excited because I am not that good and I have already been throwing things". We did not know if she was kidding or not because she did not crack a smile, asked my wife what she wanted to drink and left. She brought me the same drink as her, even though she didn't give me a chance to answer. I asked her for suggestions, since we had never been there, but everything that she said was in a condescending tone. We placed our orders and waited. As we waited, we noticed that all of the other patrons that had her as a server were treated quite differently. She was, what seemed, very genuine, kind and attentive. This confused us since she was short, rude, condescending and seemed annoyed since "she had been throwing things". We then noticed when she brought out the pot of coffee that she went to every table, except ours. Knowing full well that she had served us coffee, even though I didn't ask for it. When she came and brought hot sauce "just in case", we asked for coffee. She turned around, walked away and said "yeah" down the restuarant. She came back, filled our cups and splashed it on the table and myself. Last straw. We left enough money for the coffee, a few bucks over since that was all the cash we had and left. I do not know why we were the chosen ones to be treated the way we were, but no one, absolutely no one, should ever be treated that way and we will NEVER be back, and we will make sure people are aware of the treatment given to others that may be different from them. read more

That was the perfect time because, after we ordered, people were streaming in. We both had the fried walleye special and it was delicious! The fish didn't have a heavy batter, so you could taste the fish instead of just batter. I had fries with mine and my husband had a baked potato. My fries were OK -- frozen instead of fresh potatoes, but I think that is the norm. They were OK after a little salt. If in town again, we'd go back! read more

Food was just Ok Service was pathetic We waited a long time at the "wait to be seated sign"as 2 servers rolled silverware at the Bar area. One server was working and 2 others leisurely walked around. Ted's food is filling and tasty! They serve the Best French Toast I've had in recent memory. The family who runs the restaurant is so generous and they give a free Thanksgiving dinner to the community. Prices are not an issue, food comes out really fast, waitstaff is cheerful, and the restaurant is absolutely Pristine clean. Their parking lot is always packed. Every time I have come here, I'm always pressed to find a place to park but it is worth being patient just to get in the door! read more

Having spending every summer in Clinton growing up, I can only regret that we didn't have a place like this when I was younger. My sister and I recently came to town for a few days and we ate here twice. It was so nice to see a place that had beer other than Bud Light or Busch Light and I happily ordered a Modelo. I got the stir fry the first time and there was a bit too much sauce for my liking but I reminded myself that's probably really common in the midwest unlike California where everyone asks for it on the side. But it was very delicious! We also came for breakfast on a Sunday and the place was packed! And understandably so. There are so many yummy breakfast choices to choose from. My sister got an omelet that I swear was bigger than her head. Both times that we came the service was friendly and great and the food came out so quick both times. I hear the owner is opening another spot soon and I hope I will get to try that place out as well the next time I am in town. Thank you! read more

We have eaten here several times and had a really good experience with a waitress (Donna), but this last time UGGGH!!! It wasn't the food that was bad but the service was horrible...We had this waitress with a scarf in her hair (thinks her name was Dorthy) that was just horrible. We asked for Donna but was told she may not be back. This scarfed waitress flew around the restaurant like she was busy but we had to wait forever for her to take our order. Mind you there was only two other table besides us and they already had their food. Once we got our order taken she was up at counter complaining about a co-worker loud enough that we could hear. (It was very vulgar) We saw our food up an ready but she just keep talking about her co-worker all awhile our food was getting cold. This place needs a new waitress if this is all they have.
