Ted's sport Center has in stock somewhere whatever you came in to buy! Friendly advice is also offered if you ask them what fishery is producing and what depth with which lure or bait is working to catch them too. They will also keep you legal with what catch is in season and whats not, plus sell you the license or tag to keep you safe from the long arm of the law! Everyone who works here cares about why you're there and what you're trying to accompliash. Every single employee know how to fish and, if they are not an expert on what you're doing, they'll tell you and put you in touch with an expert if possible. Been to plenty of high class fly shops around the greater Seattle area and found that none of them compare to Ted's. This is not a "fly fishing only" shop but they stock more "useful" tackle/equipment/tyeing supplies than any other shop I've been to. Best part is, the people are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and their prices are way way reasonable. While fly shops tend to be painfully over priced, Ted's Sport Center remains to be down to earth. It's obvious that the guys that work here love fishing. read more

Great store with a great selection and reasonable prices. During the Summer/Fall months I'm stopping by here more frequently, as it's convenient and they usually have what I am looking for in gear. Sure, their prices aren't as low as Wal-Mart, but what you don't save in .40 on that $3.00 lure, you make up for in selection and knowledge. It may be that I am not a fly fisherman, and that is why I don't feel more at home in Ted's. For some reason it always feels that they would prefer if we weren't in there bothering them. Conversely they do know their stuff and you can generally find all the basics for crabbing, trolling or river fishing for Trout, Steelhead and Salmon. The one thing that is consistent is that if you go in there to get a license, the machine will not be working right and it will take forever. LOL. So all in all it could be a lot worse, and with the few remaining fishing stores there are in the area, it winds up being one of the best. read more

Even on an extremely busy Saturday at the shop, we received in-depth, personal help. Occasionally, we had to wait for other business to take place, but John promptly returned to us and gave us his attention. Both he and the other salesman regularly checked-in with all customers and apologized for the wait. No one seemed to mind, as we all were able to be helped. Prices are fair, especially considering all the expert help for free. I am sure we would have spent more had we not been so well-directed toward our needs. We are mostly new to fishing, but John educated us for our upcoming adventure, and set the stage for the next fishing trip to try. We will be back. read more

just now I would never recommend anybody to buy anything from Ted's Supporting center Lynnwood I had the worst experience ever and it was my first time there This is my Experience: I never been to Ted's prior to yesterday I went there with my boyfriend and he was looking to buy several fishing poles that cost over $1000 Mike the owner was helping him out He was unfriendly and it seem like he didn't even want to sell anything to my boyfriend Because maybe he was Asian And made us feel like he was discriminating against Asians, he was very rude and aggressive towards us when all we were doing it was trying to buy some fishing supplies, my boyfriend told me he's been A faithful customer for many years And have spent a lot of money over the years at that store to find out that Mike the owner never liked my boyfriend That was very disappointing but was willing to take his money Over the years he was very fake to his customers and then yesterday while trying to check out he was very disrespectful started yelling And just grab the fishing poles right out of my hand and told us to leave Because Boyfriend took a little too long reaching for his credit card to pay for the items I guess this is probably one of the reasons why his Business went downhill and he's closing the doors Because he has very bad customer service Does not appreciate his customers I've also heard from other customers this is not the first time that he has acted this way towards his customers, I would never recommend anybody to buy anything from "Teds sporting center in Lynnwood." Who wants to shop at a "fishing store" that does not sell Washington State fishing licenses?? I have shopped there for many years, because it is close to home. Went today to get my winter crab card. Mike says they don't sell fishing license any more! I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on. Usually spend $200-$300 there at least every year. NO more!! read more

i have lived next to teds for years always popping in and out ub iyt getting stuff, the employees are very helpful and friendly except for who i believe is the owner, what a crabby old A$$ hole,the last time i went in and got a licence, a and a discover pass. to make this short i paid him a $20 he claimed ten, i just came from the ATM and had only 20's in my wallet so i knew i was right, we argued for a bit about it but he gave my my change, then there was a miscomunication about passes so it had to be redone...HE WAS NOT HAPPY, he lectured me about being clear in what i wanted then proceded to print the other part out and what do you know THE MACHINE IS NOW BROKEN... i doubt it. good place but i will never give a dime to this place ever again.. read more

I've lived in this area for nearly 30 years and I've never darkened the doorway of TED'S Sporting Goods on hwy 99 in Lynnwood. TED'S was recommended to me by a friend when I mentioned that I'd like to learn about fly fishing and after visiting several other fly shops in the area I decided to visit TED'S. I was surprised to see the store as busy as it was and even more surprised when I was waited on as quickly as I was. I was really on a learning mission about fly fishing and wasn't going to buy just yet, but I was so impressed with the time given to teaching me and knowledge of the sales person that I ended up purchasing a rod, reel and line. He showed me the difference between like rods and reels and didn't try to get me into more than what I could afford and easily learn how to handle. I went home and got on the internet to check to see how badly I'd been taken, when, to my surprise, I actually saved about $125 buying from TED'S over the least price for the same equipment had I purchased it on line. I highly recommend TED'S sporting goods. I'll be back for more stuff in the future. read more

Ted's is, as everyone's posted, a fantastic icon in the Seattle fishing scene. There are many places to purchase fishing supplies but none rise to the level of service, selection and friendliness. Everyone there makes you feel like a family member rather than just a customer. When I first started fishing, it was Sean who gave me advice leading to a first year count of a dozen steelhead. When I started fly fishing, it was Steve who set me in the right direction. As for Mike, he's an all around nice guy always willing to take time out of his day to share stories and advice. read more

I have been going to Teds for a few years to get my salmon gear. They have everything I need to catch salmon in the salt or in the rivers. I kind of like fishing stores where you know if you act like a jackass they will return the attitude. I've always liked a store that you just know if you're that arrogant customer that gives them a hard time they will just kick you the F#$% out. That being said I think everyone here is a big help if you have any questions. I've taken broken rods back and they always take care of the warranty process and give me a few options. Last time they just swapped it with an identical rod they had in stock. It certainly is not an Orvis store but I think thats why I like it so much. read more

This place is the place to get information about the hottest places to fish. Everyone on staff are pro fishermen and catch lot's of fish. These are the guys you learn from. I've recently caught many fish because of the advice they have given me. Even though they seem a little grumpy at times. It's only because they would rather be out fishing than selling fishing gear..lol. Anyway I can't not stop by this place even though I don't need to buy something. John is a steelhead slayer. All the fish he talks about catching I thought he was full of it untill I saw him catch steelhead after steelhead at reiter. Don't be fooled this guy is a steelhead himself under human skin. Insanely nice and helpful. I've been there twice and both times I was helped by someone different. Both gentlemen were very knowledgeable and never tried to upsell me on things that I didn't need (HUGE plus). I've definitely been talked down in the past for being a girl in outdoor stores, but these guys were very respectful. Bottom line - even though this is a solid 45 minute trip out of my way they have earned themselves two loyal customers (my boyfriend and I) - I see lots more fishing trip in our future! read more

Living in this part of Washington, the are is huge on salmon fishing and trout fishing and things of that sort. Naturally stores send to focus on what's popular in the area. Ted's is no exception, they'll have everything you need. But where they excel and what I hugely appreciate is their knowledge base on other fishing prospects and their willingness to walk with you and explain little perch baits and similar. I usually get shrugged off pretty quick at other bait and tackle stores or talked down to regardless of whether they're busy or not. I can confidently say that has never happened at Ted's and will drive out of my way to go to Ted's if I need something. read more

Always been stopping by Eds to pick out the tackle I need for my next trip. I like their selection of gear & tackle. Plus its always nice to have small shop instead of wadding Through all the camo, camping, clothing before you find what you want. Its been the only fishing shop for me for 15+ years. Sometimes I get help other times they are so engrossed in stories or working to get high dollar person taken care of my Questions. I wish they were a little bit more customer focus with everyone who comes Through the door. Due you think a person who buys 350.00 on 1 purchase, is better than a person who shops a the store over 30 times in a season with average purchase price of 25.00 to 35.00? If yes you need to rethink your math! What I'm saying is a little bit more focus on customer & less BS. I'm currently living in Olympia,Wa and I hope next year when I move back to King/Snomomish County they will have worked on customer care. Ted's is by far my favorite fishing store north of Seattle. They have a great selection for all types of fishing and seafood harvest, including oysters, clam, and crab. And if they don't have what you are looking for, they are happy to order it for you. They staff is also very friendly and helpful. They always have helpful tips on gear, techniques, and locations. Yep! Years ago when I used to go there and spend BIG change, the service by Mike was excellent, Once I got all my fishing gear from both fresh and saltwater done, I didn't spend large amounts of money there anymore. I use to go there for small items. i.e. line, downrigger weight etc. Seems like the service you get from Mike goes along with how much you spend. I've shopped this place for years. Experience of services from the three guys (owner, son, & their friend) have been dismayed. I consider this place a white angler club. It has been a repeated experience that if you are not cucasion, you will not be greated going in and be ignored thru out the process including at the check out. They will intentionally ask to check out another white customer behind you unless that customer tell them that you are in line ahead of him. read more

Called teds to ask about a surf rod and was told that a 12 foot rod was to heavy to fish from a pier in this area. I have used a 13 foot and a15 foot rod from Edmonds pier and caught ling cod and cabazion for years. The person was rude and had a know it all tone to every thing he said I would never you that place. I was in there a few years ago and waited around while they help persons who came in after me,I think the brown of my skin made my money less important. read more
