I didn't know what to expect since I am not a big fair or festival person. My son has been in the parade for the last 5 years. That is usually it for me, last year I did the festival too. I realized that I wasn't missing anything all these years. It was just a bunch of vendors selling things I can find in stores. I didn't see many homemade items. The only booth that had some cool things was the one selling chimes . Other than that there was nothing I couldn't live without. Food ....meh, nothing I needed to have. I saw a lot of people drinking. Maybe that's why people are enjoying themselves , for me it would be the food. Nothing good in that department, so I think I will continue staying home during Mountain Fest.

The Big Red Barn has a lot of fresh fruit, baked goods, and other treats to choose from. The real fun is when you pick the fruit yourself though. We got ourselves some sweet blackberries to take home. Out on the farm, we had the best tractor ride and learned some fun facts about fruits, as well as slid on the huge slide and played some outdoor games. While we were here, we ate some oakie pies. My favorite is thanksgiving dinner. It tastes just like November-- Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. They have other tasty savory pies like the chicken pot pie, blueberry pulled pork, and the breakfast pie. Of course, you could get some sweet ones too! The service is very friendly and the farm truly has fun for everyone! I can't wait to come back for stone fruit season.

Super friendly Staff who really show their passion for trains & the history that surrounds them. They have a nice gift shop where you can find a gift for the train enthusiast in your life, or pick up something for yourself. If you are lucky a train will pass through and you can sit on the platform and feel the history as it passes you by, go see the Tehachapi Loop to complete your visit to Train Town USA.
