I never thought I'd ever see a chiropractor. The idea freaked me out and I thought, "Nah, I'm fine," despite everyone telling me how amazing adjustments are. Three people alone were recommending Dr. Jan to me but still, I procrastinated. One day I woke up with what I thought was a knot, maybe a pinched nerve from sleeping wrong because that's what happens when you're almost 40, right? Dr. Jan (Teitelbaum), by far, gives the best adjustments I've ever had. My friend, with an overworked professional ballerina's body, had been to dozens of chiropractors. She told me he was superior to all others. He doesn't just do the standard 1-2 crack. I watched him adjust my friend, and hers is much different from mine. For my needs, he is very gentle, and careful with my previous areas of surgery, whiplashed and damaged parts. He uses various equipment, working areas that no one has ever worked on before. I started going to Dr. Jan Teitelbaum 32 years ago. In addition to being one of the nicest people I know, he's also the best Chiropractor I've ever worked with. There was an 8 or 9 year gap in that period, as I moved out here. In that time, I had the chance to see a lot of other Chiropractors. That's because none were anywhere close to as good. One day in 2007, we ran into each other at a Chamber of commerce meeting here, and I've been seeing him ever since. Maybe 60 sounds old. And maybe, I weigh a lot more than I should. And despite my making some "OOPS!!" moves.....and now and then having some real back issues, I've got more physical flexibility than most people I know. He's helped me through several times when I've done something stupid to my back. And I've been back on my feet and functioning well in days, instead of weeks or months. I do a lot of walking. I have been going to Dr Jan for over 8 years. I have used several chiropractors in the past, but like Dr Jan the best. He has invested in the tools that help to make his practice excellent, like an x-ray, ultrasound, power tools (designed for the body), etc. ALL FIVE of my KIDS go to him, too. I began seeing Dr. Jan after I gave birth almost 8 years ago because the weight of the pregnancy and my new-mama-posture (carrying baby in all manner of ways) was throwing my back into spasms. I admit to being really hesitant to see a chiropractor because of prior negative experiences with chiropractic treatment. Dr. Jan was patient and thorough, and he explained what I could expect, and what I should not expect from treatment. What sets Dr. Jan apart is the individualization of his treatment. At each visit he evaluates where you are, what you've been doing (or not doing), and treats you individually based on what you're experiencing at that time. Over the years my treatment needs have varied. There have been days where I've done something stupid and tweaked my back so badly I couldn't get up without assistance. There have been simple maintenance periods where I'm keeping up with the exercises he's taught me to stay strong and flexible. The thing I appreciate most is the education Dr. Jan has given me about caring for my own back. At the end of the day, it means money out of his pocket because I don't need to see him as often, but Dr. Jan truly is committed to making you the best "you," you can be. Dr. Jan provided me with IMMEDIATE relief for Vertigo. He fit me in for an immediate appointment. Dr. Jan Teitelbaum changed the quality of my life! I had experienced sciatica over a 12 year period. This involved pain extending from my lower back down to the top of my foot. During that time, I tried physical therapy, exercise, massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture, etc. At best, these provided only temporary relief. By the end of this period, I was taking Naproxen (aka Aleve) twice daily and was desperate to find a solution. Long-story short, after finding and seeing Jan for a year, the chronic pain is gone. I had given up and was convinced I would have to live with this pain the rest of my life, but with Jan's help, my activities no longer revolve around the sciatica.
