Scam I received a call from Telplex the other day telling me they are from AT&T and that I could save money by switching carriers. While on the phone with them, I looked up their company and quickly ended the call. Hundreds of the same complaints. Disgusting act trying to say you are with AT&T and you are not. Misleading. And apparently these discounted rates they give you, they forget to tell you about all the added charges you will see on your bill. So...I made a complaint with the FTC, Ohio Attorney Generals office, AT&T office of the president, & PUCO. These guys should be arrested! this company is calling businesses misrepresenting who they work for. I am a business partner with CenturyLink and know that they are not contracted with CenturyLink. They called my place of business trying to tell me they were from CenturyLink over billing department which there is no such department. I have let our CenturyLink channel manager know but customers out there need to be aware they are scamming clients trying to claim to lower there bills. Yes, they're a scam. WHAT TO DO IF you only figure it out part-way through and they have some of your account information already - call your own provider using the phone number on your monthly bill. When you get to a representative, ask to put a "Pick Freeze" on your account (at least that's what CenturyLink calls it) What this does, is that when another company contacts your provider saying "We have verbal authorization they want to switch..." Your provider says NOPE. When you have a freeze in place, you have to call your provider directly and request to remove the freeze. Another company with verbal OR written authorization from you means NOTHING to your provider if you have a freeze in place. :) TelPlex had me for a bit until I caught them in a big fat lie (saying the exact opposite of what the prior person had told me) I realized they were not legit, and said I do NOT want to change and I do not consent to anything - but by then I'd verified some info for them and verbally gave the "Yes" answer to some of their questions on the recording. (UGH) Then I was worried they could splice the audio and make it seem that I'd consented and didn't want to risk it so I called CenturyLink to see if anything could be done to protect my account - and, yes! So if you're worried about scams like this getting a bit of your info and changing without your consent - call and ask for your company to put a Pick Freeze on your account. They apparently claim they have the power to take any numbers owned by AT&T and charge you 2 times over, which isn't really fair to me. Please do not entertain the idea of even switching to them. We were duped by these scam artists from day one. They called here pretending to be AT&T. Then, after talking to the actual AT&T and discovering that they were not, I called to cancel their "Upgrade and services" but they still showed up and converted everything. It was all very confusing because when AT&T showed up (because that's who does their work, we were told it was standard upgrades to our existing service. BUT it wasn't. Our service was switched even though we had cancelled the install. As a small business without we decided to just roll with it to see if our service would improve. It did not. In fact, our fax line essentially was useless. Our calls dropped or just didn't come in so frequently that some patients actually thought we were closed down. Their inability to fix anything and just shove it back on AT&T was the final blow. We arranged to have our services return to AT&T. Everything works great now that we aren't with them! So fast forward to returning the equipment. We were instructed to pack up the equipment and were provided a FedEx account to use for some random guy. We took the box to FedEx, but the account showed as invalid. We then called Telplex get a good account number but we were told it was right and to try to take it to another location or UPS because the account number was the same for both. This did not work. We went to MANY locations throughout Dallas only to be told the same thing. It was extremely frustrating. Finally, after nearly 2 months of trying to return their equipment and failing, Telplex finally offered to send us a box with a return label. It did take about a week to get the box but when it arrived we packed everything up and gave it to the UPS driver when he showed up. That was 3 weeks ago and Telplex claims to have never received it. They probably tried to give the same account info and its sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Now, they are charging us for the equipment. So now begins the job of tracking down a copy of the tracking number which we have somewhere but these fools who sent us all the information somehow don't have it? Wrong!!!! You know they do. I whole heartedly believe they bank on people not having this information and use it against them to charge them for equipment which who knows, they may or may not have. So conclusion here is these people are scam artists. If they manage to weasel their way into your world, turn them away before they can get their greedy like talons around you. read more

This company has the absolute worst customer service, not to mention their sales rep lied to me about what my monthly bill would be if I switched over. When I called to talk to them about it they said there was nothing they could do and laughed at me. I talked to two sales associates both with horrible horrible customer service skills, one by the name of Tracey. I thought At&t was the worst but they seem like angels compared to this company. Please do not give them your business. I immediately transferred all my services back to At&t. The worst! Misleading telephone telemarketers.. Misrepresented that they were an affiliate of AT&T and they had a mandate to lower our rates. After a long presentation about the rate reduction I became suspicious and Googled them, only to find everyone else had the same impression and bad experiences. While making the order I asked at least 6 times to ensure there were no extra charges and each time I was assured there were not. When I got the bill there were hundreds of dollars of extra fees. Teleplex calls our office at least once per week asking to speak with "the person in charge of the AT&T bill." The script is similar to what other reviewers are posting, all the way down to the hang-up when you ask the supervisor for additional information. When i realized i was scammed(a few short minutes as i called my business manager immediately getting off the phone with them and she had googled and seen all the very scary information re: this company) i called immediately to cancel this offer which had me paying more than $70.00 a month than i pay now to At&t. I spoke to someone named Angela to whom i said, I wish to cancel this contract i just signed, or i will be notifying both AT&T and Better Business Bureau. Angela began yelling me immediately-telling me to calm down--which i did because i knew she would be hanging up on me. Absolute scammers. A rep called stating they are partners with At&t but had no clue we are a corporate owned business not small business account. Wanted permission to add a "discount" for long distance and tried to get me to do it. As a former AT&T employee I know that even the contractors are issued an ATTUID. I asked for hers and she gave me a random 4-digit number. Definitely not an employee id. I reported them to my corporate office. SCAM ALERT - Calls several times per day and upon finally answering the phone, tells you in fast talking legal terms that they are not AT&T but a competitor and that due to FCC regulation changes on monopolies, are calling in regards to a class action lawsuit and on "behalf" of AT&T. Their claim is that At&T is obligated to hand over your account to smaller, local companies at a much lower rate and that they need your permission to transfer the account. They transfer you back and forth to a "third party legal office" then ask lots of yes / no questions that is recorded so that you verbally give them permission to contact At&T and have them release your account to them. By the time you figure out it's a scam and ask qualifying questions, they already have you recorded saying "yes." Luckily, after an alarm went off in my head I read up on them quickly, called At&T and put a "Pick Freeze" or "Freeze" on the account so they cannot call and say I gave them permission to transfer. SCAM ALERT! I've been called 3 times in as many days by persons saying they are with AT&T and are lowering my long distance bills by changing my long distance carrier. Each call lasted about 10 minutes and then they were going to transfer me to another person to finish up. I fell for this once. Nothing that Telplex claimed about saving money was true. My bills went up!!! I contacted my AT&T rep and this is NOT an AT&T call. When I asked Kelsey Anderson (employee #4626) if she was indeed an AT&T employee she replied yes. I told her I did not in anyway want to do business with TelPlex. Oddly, our phone call was disconnected. When Bryan Wilson (employee #5150) called the following day, I got the SAME spiel. But this time, he told me he would call me back in 5 minutes. Never called. I'm tired of wasting my time with these people. They talk so fast you can't talk to them or get a word in edge-wise. This "company" got me for almost 800.00 for 2 months of phone bills. They claimed they sent me an email and I signed off and agreed to this rate but I have no such thing. I offered to turn them into BBB and she put me on hold and came back with this "canned" information saying that they have my recorded voice agreeing to their rates. I asked if they have the recorded voice of the original salesperson who quoted me the low rates that were going to be huge savings over my AT&T rate. She said they don't record sales people. Today the agent told me I'm getting 23.00 back and I should be happy with the adjustments they made to get my first bill of 538.17 down to 478.17 and then my second and last bill down to 310.34. Beware: This company misrepresents themselves as being part of AT&T. They'll call your business and ask to speak to the person in charge of your AT&T bill. They then explain that you're going to see a reduction in your bill at the end of the month. This is all false - they're actually trying to get you to switch from AT&T to their services, which come with a ton of hidden fees. If in doubt, ask them to clarify if they are actually part of AT&T. If you do so, they'll either dodge the question or hang up on you outright. They are completely deceptive and actively try to mislead you. read more
